My aim with this channel is to share what I've learned as an above-average miniature painter and to share my love of wargaming, especially skirmish wargames. The vast majority of my experience is with the Warhammer 40,000 universe, but I have recently decided to broaden my horizons, both within and outside of the Games Workshop family of games. Current plans include talking about games including Conquest: The Last Argument of Kings, Marvel Crisis Protocol, and Warcry.
In addition to hobby and game discussion, I'm a bit of a lore nerd, so you can expect novel reviews and other lore discussions, especially for the 40k universe.

If I can find the right parts and figures, I'll try to do a custom Grimaldus from the new JoyToys Black Templar Sword Brethren figures
Oil paints diluted with White Spirit ?
The loop hole is as long as you are crusading you can keep recruiting to make up for loses due to a constancy of combat operations. You can send a company on crusade say, to take the sabbat worlds. While they are gone you can recruit neophytes and promote marines. Figured this out working on the Chapter Master game back in the day on the elegan/tg/entlemen board.
I've heard of many of these titles on Reddit and BGG, as I'm new to solo miniature gaming. I've only been adding these titles to a "wishlist", but haven't researched yet. Your video was great at summarizing the titles, and I appreciate the Pro/Con commentary. Thank you!
no mineral spirits on the sponge when removing?
Phillip, any plans to continue gaming 5PFH anytime soon? Thanks!
"Llan du gor" in Welsh roughly means "Church of the Black Heart" I feel like that's definitely intentional. "Gor" can also mean "dwarf/stunted" So I feel like the author is taking some poetic license and might be attempting to mean something approximating "Lord of the Shriveled Heart"
I Just recently picked up newsh and did a similar verdigris effect. one thing i've learned is to add water for finer details that you want to shade. Also, use a wet makeup sponge to get smoother wipes/cleanup vs dry sponges for rougher weathering effects.
Hi! Thanks for the great tutorial ^^ May I ask if you dilute the liquitex black ink with water? With what proportion?
Just added Forbidden Psalm: Cloth Goblins to my kit. Building terrain and waiting for the minis from Statuesque minis now.
Great Review. I liked the extra detail.
I have been playing the solo expansion for Relicblade, Catacombs of Kural. It's tough as heck, but quite a lot of fun. Also, not sure if this really counts, but I have been playing a lot of Hero Quest with the app playing the Evil Wizard. It's pretty basic, but very nostalgic and very easy to get a game together.
Thank you for doing this video. Although I don't have a 3D printer yet [my birthday's in August and I'm dropping hints left, right and centre] I'll have one before Winter is Coming :) I've spent the last couple of evenings looking at various STL subs, quite a few of which you've mentioned in this video and the one from 2023. I really appreciate your taking the time to put this up on YT. Subscribed )O(
"In fact, my pile of shame is probably bigger now than it has ever been..." As it should be. It means you're doing things right.
Surprised you didnt cover Zombicide! Great game you can play solo or with others. Has tons of versions with expansion for each core version. Also comes with minatures and a game board! So no fiddling trying to buy extra things
bug hunt sounds great. I don't care for character backgrounds and story building. I like objectives and a good solid rule set. However I like the the whole credit system when jumping from turn to turn in 5 Par Secs.
Funny that you commented about how loot was hard to unsubscribe from but didn't mention that Heroes Infinite is the same. Love both
Such a fan of Co-op and solo games. So glad I found this. Painting teams up now.
have a look at at Fleshcraft. beautiful but dark minis, and each month comes with stunningly designed modules for 5e, pf, fp and opr.
What's recommended for someone who doesn't yet know if she likes miniatures games and therefore has none yet? I prefer SciFi over fantasy but will try either
Maybe a little late but you can just use paper "miniatures". Google it, there are free samples.
Just picked up the Forbidden Psalm end times Kickstarter as my beginnings into FP. Great listening to this interview even in 2024, thank you
Thanks for popping these videos up. I have a few of the Unit 9 models on the way now. One other that I have liked the look of is Lord of the Print, now known as Rescale Miniatures. They have some glorious dragons and other large fantasy beasts, but I really enjoyed picking up and painting some of the mice from their Archduke of Mousin release. They made a lovely change to the usual sort of fantasy of sci fi models that we are used to.
I just recently starting using Newsh and also found it to be very effective. It's major limitation compared to tradition washes is that some sculpts just won't be practical to use with it. For example, I have a demon miniature with a LOT of spikes and there is no way for me to effectively wipe off the Newsh after applying it. And some models have very closed off poses making it difficult to wipe down... just a word to the wise. It's not perfect for every sculpt but it's an excellent product nonetheless.
I Love opr! As a casual gamer, I always Had a hard time remembering all the rules and stratagems from Warhammer 40k. I also like to kitbash and convert and I feel Like I am more free to do so here. So its also cheaper, as I can use cheaper kits from other companies. The alternating activation system also makes for very exciting moments on the Board!
The BEST way to apply this is by thin layers! Let dry and adjust depth (color affect) as you see fit. The color is dependent on the thickness or layers applied! I recently started using that technique, and it is super.
OPR continues to get more and more popular. Love to see it :)
I know this video is older but a couple to add to it would be Acolyte- an INQ28 inspired game that uses combat similar to Kill Team. Deep, Abandon (and the upcoming Deep Space Abandoned) that is a miniature agnostic game similar to the newer Warhammer Quest games like Blackstone Fortress, Silver Tower and Hammerhall in it utilization of dice to perform actions. I have subscribed and will check out your video log for follow ups that you may have already done since this video.
Using a damp brush it's really good for doing fade/blends
Love da Orks! 💚
Thanks for the video. Keep them coming
Final girl is a pretty cool solo board game. Just picked up demonship and made my own terrain for it. Havent played yet. Also been playing ironsworn, and apothecaria
What’s up! Nothing like a good solo. You left Battlespace off, it’s a modiphius release as well 😁
I Have your game! My sister bought Rusty Dagger for me and I really like it. I want to make art for it, I`m a graphic designer, can I contact you?
With the random rolling and some fudging/reinterpretation this might be a good way to work through some of the minis I've got languishing from Reaper kickstarters.
It absolutely would. This and Rangers of Shadowdeep
A bIllion Suns has Single Player Rules as well.
Waiting for a youtuber to play this
Thanks for the info. Due to disability i am forced into commission painting. Really appreciate your insight.
Magnus did exactly two things wrong, and even then his hand was forced.
Great shout-out for Mech Factory. I use it pretty much every day. I've customized and printed out so many record sheets for 'mechs, and I'm considering putting my son on the path to glory on Solaris VII with a Panther he can customize between matches.
The odds? Does not matter how many times you roll. Each die roll is a 1-in-10 (10%) chance of each face when using a D10. NO MATTER how many times you roll. Just like tossing a coin -SAME ODDS EVERY TIME
Gothic bob the builder
Sub. I like the way you present information in this video a lot
They look exactly like the hobby lobby versions only difference is the color....
Cool figures 👍
Fallout: Wasteland Warfare should have been on this list.
Great video. I am learning about this stuff at the moment and not tried it yet. One question, if you are using a Contrast/Speed Paint shouldn't you put a layer of varnish on the model before applying the oil wash?
It's not strictly necessary for Contrast. That said, a layer of gloss varnish is never going to hurt between acrylic and oil layers.
pls check your cameras focus.
What’s a good way to contact? Are you still in Wasilla?
Excellent tutorial for new painters such as me, thank you!
I have a question about using oil paints for a wash. Every example I've seen of this shows them using artists paints, but my question is does Testers work the same?
I have to admit I'm not familiar with Testor's oils. The stuff I used growing up was all enamel.
@@MTFTabletop Your answer tells me it prolly won't work. Good enough for me!
They claim they're the best at defense but my brothers of the Iron Warriors would like to say otherwise
