With how much Assassin’s Creed’s lore seems to be inspired by Mesopotamian mythology, I’m honestly a little surprised it has yet to be a setting in the franchise. On one hand it does makes sense since it’s not well-known to western audiences and companies don’t usually like to take risks but on the other hand the Isu are basically the Annunaki in practically every way. I just can’t help but wonder if UbiSoft at least took it into consideration, especially with how much Mesopotamia (when people bother to remember it that is) gets compared to Egypt.

A lot of people underestimated the potential of this game including me it’s fascinating… We did not forsee the plans they had for this game
I don't think it was underestimated, I think its more so that people were infuriated with the amount of content offered in the base launch for the $ and to call it a mainline entry when it initially resembled a glorified SAGA Title. Also to only have three cultures at launch imo hurt its replayability. Thanks to the backlash, CA had to reflect and I hope for the future consider what to actually place as full game out there before committing to it.

They will, there's no way they're going to be just minor factions

I expect that they'll be less about mechanics and more about bonuses and specializations, like Rome 2 or Attila.

@@mariusbehm9874 They have unique units from the major factions, for example Assyria is a minor faction as opposed to the Hanigalbat (basically the Mitanni that got conquered and incorporated into the Empire so they have that Assyrian influence)
The best part of the concept of minor factions is that it unlocks a lot of potential for future Total Wars too. I initially thought that due to the way Total War needs to be developped today, it's impossible to release the games with more than ten-ish factions at release. But with minor factions, you can easily make ten in-depth factions representing the major players of various regions of this era at launch, and add to them less-developped factions that represent smaller entities or factions you haven't had time to develop fully.
It's great for replay value.

The other aspect is, this could be a great way to do future factions in total war - fantasy or historical. This would then help with DLC expansion by itself
Good base for mods. Especially middle eastern factions. Would love for them to span to north west India.

What about Assassins Creed set during Persian wars, Scythians and Assyria or Alexander the Great and his conquest against Scythia. A Scythian Assassin, who wanders with his horde through the steppes, living a life full of freedom until life sets him to a serious quest and adventure. Some Scythians were savage and also great warriors and skilled with the bow while on horseback. They even made it to Egypt and forced the Pharaos to pay them tribute. Their empire is very underrated, yet, I think, their pantheon, the crazy blood thirsty Amazon women, also the small touch of a mixed Greek culture and legends of Greek and Indo-Iranians would give the great spice to the lore in the Assassins Creed universe. But I fear this scenario would be butchered, seeing a Black Samurai was enough for me to see.

Brah if you hadn't kept making videos about Pharaoh, nobody would have any KZread content. It's like all the creators boycotted the game. That doesn't help anyone. Just hurts the game. Thank you for keeping it up with the videos. Also, not mythology. YHWH (Almighty God) really did spank Pharaoh and all his gods. He's my God. Not mythology if there are still people who worship this God even today lol
Haha, thank you! But when you see Great Book of Grudges/andy take and Termi they've also posted content on this game too. I have been arguing for this update and am really glad that we have it. But yes, it doesn't help the game when you make one video, rag on it and then never come back on it. I might be the ONLY positive youtuber (there are other channels but they are small in the sense, that they don't have an impact) and the big ones left. I'm nowhere near big, heck I'm smaller than Asmongold lol. But I do know that Pharaoh is a fine game that was judged too unharshly. And also, how can it be true that to support CA Sofia, you troll their game on their social media marketing, you claim they are a great studio given a bad direction, and then you remain mum for months while I'm the only KZreadr that made videos urging CA Sofia to add Mesopotamia and Greece. No one's given me credit for that, but it would be unwise of me to claim it either. Either way, I've gotten what I want, as many other Pharaoh fans wanted it as well. But I cannot and will not claim to boast here. It would be wise to stick where I am.
Feel like you could do a great game on the end of the Julio claudian dynasty with Nero, or go to the pax Romana with Trajan or even later with Marcus Aurelius/commodus. Most Roman games are rts. Ubisoft has a great opportunity to make THE definitive Roman RPG
THANK YOU! For saying the truth. We DON'T HAVE A TRUE DEFINITIVE ROMAN RPG. Seriously, you said it right. There's like 50 damn Medieval RPGs compared to 2-3 miniscule Roman RPG games. And picking any period of Roman history is just an excellent time period for Assassin Creed

I was using the 10th anniversary mod that changed the looks of the units/campaign map
I hope they do like they did in Odyssey where they give you a tourist mode that dives deeper into the history and culture. I feel like that would help drive a bigger appreciation for Shogun 2. If CA is smart, they'll run a discount on the game when Shadows releases and ride the hype
They will but ppl already saw that "japan" showed in AC have VERY chinese architecture and cloths. And "historians" they hired to Odyssey were ACTUAL historians, not some libtard creeps with specialisation in lgbtqwerty. History "based" AC died with Origins. Why not Odyssey? Coz it was nightmare to complete it. I did 100% run and now i hate this game to the bone. Valhalla was joke, from history, throu culture, religion to weapons and armours. Even in trailer you can see weapon that was not developed for 400 years. And now we got Shadows - game that was developed by idiots for idiots. And yes we know that, insider already sold Ubicrap that they scrapped original idea for "representation". Thats why its already looks halfbaked.
They'll have a tourist mode. Guranteed. Every big AC game is going to have it. And it'll be a lot. CA could but they won't. Unless the two companies collaborated with each other for a special promotion or discount.
I absolutely agree with your statement on city builders that use a Middle Eastern esthetic. The ethnocentricity of developers is horrible
I wouldn't say ethnocentricity, but a bias towards a certain era. In the 2000s you had a much better range of diverse city builders. Now, it's all one period or just poor range Medieval stuff. And I quite frankly am baffled why city builders don't go to other parts of the world. The Medieval Islamic World was at one point a bastion of stunning architecture. To see that being ignored for wooden thatched huts is just mind boggling.

does this game still getplayed? heck after the failed launch and the treatment of 3k i was sure it was dumped in the ditch. always thought this should have been a total war troy DLC. imagine trash talking rome because it has less cinamatics. Rome 2 especially with it's mod support has WAY more depht and gameplay. i played pharoah and it was lackluster and had the same issues of troy only worse cause even troy had an option that at least made the core battles interesting. which this game does not have

Pharaoh is my favorite total war game so far. I've been playing since the first Shogun and can say with each title, they keep improving. The AI, graphics, depth, everything is improved.

It did seem for a while that CA would drop Pharaoh, given all the unwarranted criticism that it endured even before it was released. To their great credit they have persisted with the game and now Pharaoh is shaping up very nicely.

CA literally wanted to scam people with Pharaoh.Troy has very serious issues to this day that haven't been addressed (their engine is a complete mess that needed to be fixed 10 years ago), but CA threw us a Troy dlc that wasn't even finished, for a full priced game, calling it a historical entry with immortal faction leaders. Even the 3 kingdom heroes can be killed despite their mythological nature. And speaking of 3 kingdoms, that game was dropped like old socks, because the subpar dlcs didn't sell enough. So tell me, how can we trust CA with anything? As for the long term support of Pharaoh, we will see. Looking at CA's recent track record I have little faith in them, the era doesn't interest that many people (sadly, i might add, the bronze age collapse is awesome), it carries a ton of baggage from Troy and CA completely lost the trust of large parts of its player base. Whether they actually change, or if it just some pandering because they got scared, we will see in the future, it's not something that can be determined just in a few months since things exploded. If the rumors are true and the next game is 40k, that game will bring in a ton of money, reinforcing CA's ideas that they can continue to ignore the historical titles and just make money wherever they can. I hope I'm wrong, we will see it in a few years.
@@mikloskoszegi I do agree with you that CA's past track record is not good in terms of treating their customers well, but it does seem that recently they are genuinely trying to get the historical fans back on side. Regardless of whether CA were trying to scam us with Pharaoh, the game itself is actually very good and all the updates that are planned will undoubtedly make it even better. Pharaoh is my opinion one of the best historical TW titles and I've been playing them since the very beginning. While I understand and sympathize to a certain extent with your complaints and anger, CA appears to be trying to atone for their past mistakes. We have already been treated to a good bit of free content for Pharaoh and there is even more on the way. And even the immortal leaders - which I dislike too by the way - will be replaced by family trees. So, there is a lot to look forward to, and perhaps we should all find it in our hearts to offer CA a little forgiveness.
@@adrianthompson5250 The thing is, it doesn't matter what they do right now. What matters is what they will do in a year, in 3 years, in 5 years. We've already seen CA apologize and "fix their ways", just look at Rome 2's release, it's basically a mirror to Pharaoh's (tbf Pharaoh was in a better state at launch....). The difference is that they didn't have the safety net of fantasy games, so they've put a ton of effort into fixing it. Even Attila got some decent support... but afterwards CA just gave up. Thrones of Britannia was a complete mess, 3K is also in the running for one of the best total war games, but it was shot down because crappy dlc surprisingly doesn't sell. It's the same story again and again. Now, I'm not saying that I'm not happy that Pharaoh is getting some much deserved love and care, and total war games always change a lot after 1-2 years (when they are not thrown away early), and I'll surely check it out when some updates/dlcs are out. But I've been burned by CA too many times, it's that simple. It's just too early to tell if they are making a genuine effort or if it's just a token gesture to appease the historical fans.
Love to see Invasio Barbarorum for Medieval 2, especially because it's the Julian part/era

It would be nice if the Elamites, the Kaskians, and the Libu would be playable. I'm hoping this update increaes the player base so that we can get some talented modders playing and modding Pharaoh too. RafSwi7 who made Extended Factions for Troy could have a field day with Pharaoh if he set his mind to it.
