Hey Mike, Mass Effect had its own book series. But I’d recommend the Revelation Space series if you’re interested in a Mass Effect-like universe and story since Mass Effect itself was heavily inspired by Revelation Space.

I can’t do audio for fantasy books. There’s too many characters. Even a series I’m relatively comfortable with like Game of Thrones… can’t do it on audio. I do like audio for mysteries or celebrity memoirs or even sci fi sometimes. Single POV books are probably the better ones to try on audio. I do mostly read with my eyes, but if I reach for an audiobook it’s usually one of these genres.

You’re not supposed to like Holden Caulfield in Catcher in the Rye, he rails against all of the adult “phonies” living a lie, but the point is he is ALSO a phony. I get not liking the novel because of that, but don’t misconstrue the main thesis of the novel. He’s supposed to be correctly perceived as a narcissistic, immature, phony. He’s a walking contradiction, trying to save children from turning into phonies as they mature, but he’s clearly already starting to turn into one as the book progresses. I also have my own personal interpretation on the book which is that it’s healthy as you mature to question things and be skeptical at times, but don’t let skepticism turn into cynicism. That’s something Holden clearly hasn’t figured out yet or guarded against. That’s when you’ve lost the plot of life.

It's not any of the good cards the Coach brings them to his private lessons with the kids. My son uses them to place bets on sporting games. Im' going to try and read Demon Awaken this month so can join in on the talk of the book.

Anyone read 70s & 80s series The Chronicles of Thomas Covenant, The Unbeliever? First 2 trilogies fabulous, the much later 3rd set less so IMO. Stephen R. Donaldson. Start with Lord Foul's Bane. Main characters has no idea if world is real or in his dreams. So innovative starting 2nd trilogy, the publisher was furious and wouldn't print a hardcover, thought he had ruined the world ppl lived

Just finished Declare by Tim Powers. It’s a secret history/fantasy that may be up your alley. It’s got spycraft, faith, djinn, fallen angels, Noah’s Ark, non-linear storytelling, all kinds of stuff, and it comes together so bloody well in the end. It’s like watching a Christopher Nolan film, where you’re just barely holding on but you keep your grip well enough that by the end you’ve got the general picture and you’re eager to go back for more.

There is still a market for sports cards. My understanding it is all about getting select limited edition cards. Outside my own card collecting. I currently collect Disney Lorcana as I try to get my young nieces and nephews into cards and as Magic the Gathering has moved more into the sports card gimmicks. Read: 'Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers' by J.R.R. Tolkien Reading: 'Money Shot' by Christa Faust, 'You Like it Darker' by Stephen King Watched: Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes, The Iron Claw Listened: Pallbearer and bunch of random stuff as checked my old radio email account Played: Still deciding on next 100 hour plus game while battling the courses of 2K23 Golf

I just finished Fairy Tale this morning. Really enjoyed it but I had a problem with the way it's told. The whole book is told in the past tense, from Charlie, which means that Charlie is going to be fine. I prefer it when the story is told as it's happening if that makes sense. Nit pick, but otherwise, I really enjoyed this book.

This comment may be a spoiler for some so please look away… but if someone can clarify it for me, why do people seem to think Willie is now “grampa?” Just cause he made the gesture that grampa does? Why can’t it be perceived that grampa was a “weirdo” too, made up all those stories,, and now Willie is just replicating a man that he was able to relate and see himself in?
