Glad you are all safe and powered. I lived in Florida about 20 years ago and spent 2 weeks in summer without power because of a hurricane. Not fun without AC in August in Florida! The only reason I bought and read the last few of my Stephen King books was because of Holly. Love that character.😂 A lot of his other stuff is just so-so (11/22/63 excluded).

We lost power during the wild snowstorm here in Texas for 2 weeks - small town, though, so the volunteer firefighters brought water and neighbors helped with anything we needed. What was interesting was having to charge my insulin pump and phone in the car!

Speaking of natural disasters in Texas, you may take an interest in Sean Stewart’s fantasies about Texas, specifically Mockingbird (which I had a mixed experience with, but mostly like) and Galveston, which is miraculous. The latter was inspired by the 1904 hurricane that submerged Galveston and so he sets it in a version of Texas where Galveston was submerged in a defund flood in 2004, this one of magic.

Glad to hear you're doing well! Tornados are scary for sure... we've had an active spring with them this year. I agree, Apple TV is taking their time with shows and choosing quality of quantity. Worth the price for sure.

That's great you and yours are ok! It is definitely an experience being without power and internet. Really makes me notice how much I overuse them. Read Thrawn this week at the request of my 13-year-old nephew, and enjoyed it more than I thought I would (not much of a Star Wars fan). But I now think Thrawn should rule the galaxy.

Yeah good luck with the weather events. Tornado alley is apparently moving east here and we already had to drive home through a big storm where tornadoes were apparently touching down somewhere behind us. We're so screwed. I'm grumpy and need a new book to read.

The fact you have so little knowledge of the Rememberance of Earth's Past trilogy has me so jealous. It's major themes are going to change the way you view outer space and the universe.

I am going to have to try The sage of the forgotten warrior. If there is one major problem I have with most fantasy it is how slow moving they are.

i always wanted a fantasy book in the pace of blake crouch i dont go well with the slow writing that many fantasy have

I don't know about Dark Matter, it seems a little too stiff and amateurish at times probably because Blake isn't used to writing for TV.

There is no shame in being such an effective story teller you can one and done it
