Hi Corey, Thank you for this. I have a question regarding views at the base of Diamondhead. Is it worth it if you can't hike? Also have you tried the Circle Island Tour? I was wondering how accessible the buses and the stops are? Thank you for your time.

Aloha Michelle, I haven't checked out Diamondhead because I heard it's not very accessible. Makapuʻu lighthouse trail is fully paved and that view is worth it. Tours should be fully accessible with accessible buses, if it is planned in advance.

I almost fell out of my chair once because I was pushing a door open, and someone came from behind and "helped." Even pushing the door I'm pushing without letting me know before can off-balance me. Offer help. And if the answer is no, accept that. Not all "help" is helpful.

I was going to comment on each point individually but i basically agree with everything except the people asking about your disability one, just for me personally, i was born with spina bifida, i think people asking is a good thing, i like to educate. And in some ways talking about it i educate myself, even though i was born with SB i was your age before i took a real interest in what it is, i just never cared before. I couldnt walk. No big deal, But, i have to add a point myself, and its something you seem to call yourself which surprised me, the word Handicapped, here in the UK that word thankfully went out of fashion a long time ago. Except for some older people who were not taught better, disabled is a much better term, to me anyway. Handicapped should be locked away in the same box as words like cripple, or Spaz, which i know in america has a different meaning but in the uk is an offensive term for disabled people, i have been known to 'accidentally' run over the feet of people using that word.

That 'bible basher' comment at number two should definitely be at number 1, there was a guy a few years ago here in the uk, an ex football/soccer player, who had been religiously brain washed, he said disabled peoole are the way we are because we were bad people in a past life, i mean, for one thing there is no such thing as a past life, or future life, theres just this one. But saying stuff like that iswhy i will never ge a 'believer'.

There a guy in north shore named Kevin where the shrimp trucks are wouldn’t allow my dad to park in the handicapped parking space for me to get out of the car. I have cerebral palsy and it’s difficult in some situations for me to get out of the car. Apparently there’s more rules? I’m currently waiting on a wheelchair to be shipped out to me. So thank you for your video

Do they have a similar system at Waikiki beach in the area of say where the Duke statue is an the beach boys surf rentals? I’m a para and have surfed there in the past. I want come back and surf my kayak. In the past I always had a big guy lift me in and out of the water..but having that beach chair would be much better..👍🏽

I have a SPC now but I’m a C6 and used to self cath. I used Coloplast Speedicath Compact and it feels like it was made for us. I use my mouth to twist the container open and then put my thumb through the P bag that way the catheter never touches my hands and prevents UTIs. Just thought I’d share. Thank you for the video bro I have friends with our injury, and this will help me show them what my mornings are like

Some people think if your in a wheelchair user due to past traumatic brain 🧠 injuries. You dont look disabled. But some use a wheelchair to get around town. SCI in the past after i fell from height broke my back and bruised cord with four unhealed fractures since August 1,2007 bridge collapse a very long time ago and arthritis in both knees.

Praying for people in wheelchairs is so misguided it sends a message that your life is unduly, irrepairable damaged because of your mobility. If you are not offering prayers to the masses respectfully, do not single my daughter out.

Wheelchairs should be voice activated. You are on the seat. Tell the chair to drop anchor and lock. Tell chair to lower the sidearm, raise the seat you are already on. Extend the board with you on it. I’m on the bed. Retract.

I was riding on my e-bike when someone hit me with their car, but they called the fire department and they left the scene. The paramedics put a neck brace on me and took me to the hospital. I was in shocked but no pain . The nurse called my wife and told her what had happened to me. So the doctor took me for X-rays and told me that my neck was broken c5-c6. I couldn’t breathe very well and I didn’t feel anything and I couldn’t move my arms but I didn’t panic. I heard a voice telling me that everything is going to be ok relax. The next day I had surgery and it lasted over 8 hours. After the surgery I was in intensive care for about 3 days. My body was bloated. I was in the hospital for 5 weeks afterwards they sent me to Shirley Ryan rehab for 6 weeks in Chicago. It was a very nice facility and I had my own room facing the lake on the 22nd floor. The physical therapist and the nurses were great. I had 3 hours of rehabilitation 6 days a week for 6 weeks. After that I was taken home. I had full use of my arms. The doctors and nurses were surprised that I gained full function of all of my fingers. At first my diagnosis was quadriplegic to paraplegic. After two week at home I was able to move my big toe and started to get feeling in my legs tingling feeling. I started an outpatient visit at Shirley Ryan rehab 5 miles away from my home . I went there 3 days a week 2 hours a day. After 3 months I was able to move both my legs and 2 months later I was able to stand not by myself but with a walker. All the while I was praying to God to heal me. I didn’t get mad at God because I know it wasn’t him that caused my accident. It’s been almost 2 years since the accident and about 75% of my feelings in my legs are back. I’m not walking yet but I have faith in God that it’s coming soon. Bad things happen to good people so don’t let your pride keep you away from your God. Oh yeah.. I still don’t know who hit me but Whoever they are, I forgive them.

If you need help it’s nothing wrong with accepting it. You don’t need to justify your decision for independence. You’re doing awesome!! I’m c5 incomplete so I get help too (even though I can do it independently, it just takes twice the time)
