  Irish people are absolutely terrified if you ask them directions......The usual Irish response is, " I'm only new her myself ", even though they were born in the house across the road in 1948. I think they think that if they actually tell you how to get somewhere that you are getting one over on them by being the beneficiary of 'information'. Also, they are also scared shitless that when you get to your destination that you will sing the praises of the direction giver, and that your host will respond in this fashion...."OH, SURE HE'S SO AND SO, HIS BROTHER IS THE CHANPION COW TIPPER OF THE TRI - COUNTY REGION OF GALWAY, LIMERICK AND LAOIS., SO HE IS ...."

  As a kid in little Kerry village would sit on a wall waiting to give tourists directions to Dingle, we'd send them on what's called "the round" big circle around the parish, waited for them to return and say you must have missed the turn, not out of badness, just craic as kids, loved having the craic with the Yanks, never failed to ask of there were any (as they pronounced) "lepreachens" around? Ah the yanks 🤣🤣

  I was in Nenagh, Co. Tipperary, parked and looking for a fishing tackle shop - I was headed for Lough Derg, and I asked a Gentleman if there was one nearby. He virtually walked me to the door, 200-300 yards in the opposite direction to the way he was headed! I love Ireland!
