    Thanks for your positive review of this lens. I own this lens and would like to use it to shoot video of an outdoor wedding on an a6700 because of its range. It is not a professional shoot and the lens would help with being discrete. With the variable aperture, do you recommend using the auto exposure setting to keep exposure constant across the zoom range? Thank again for your review.

  • @DigitalOutdoors
    @DigitalOutdoors29 күн бұрын

    If you get good results with auto exposure on the a6700 then go ahead and use it. I would recommend putting your camera on a tripod and manual focus with an aperture of around f5.6. Auto focus on this lens can't handle too many subjects moving at once 😀

    So you're recommending a bike carrier for e-bikes with a max weight capactiy (for 2 bikes) of 70lbs? Almost every fat tire e-bike weigh more than 70lbs each. From the Amazon listing...."The bike carrier has a maximum weight capacity of 70 pounds, with 35 pounds maximum per bike, as stated in the product description and confirmed by multiple customers. However, some customers mention exceeding this capacity by hauling heavier bikes weighing up to 60-75 pounds without issue."

    Hello, I need help. I have a Sony A9 and a Tamron 17-28mm lens and I’ve tried multiple variable ND filters but get a lot of vignette even at the 22mm focal distance even with an 82 mm filter on a 67 mm lens ring. What filter do you recommend? I’ve tried larger filters with step down rings but want a system that would work with my lens. I’m open to larger square ND filters and it doesn’t have to be variable. I’m shooting only video outdoors in mostly bright light. Thank you.

  • @DigitalOutdoors
    @DigitalOutdoors2 ай бұрын

    It sounds like you already tried this solution and it didn't work for you. I don't know if it's because the a9 is a full frame camera, but I chose the Haida NanoPro ND because it listed wide angle on the box. You shouldn't get any vignetting if your filter area is larger than the lens.

    I got this as soon as it came out, I also got the Atomos Ninnja V+ external recorder, this gave me better cost effective recording, because i don't need any SD cards, and i can record all my video to the Ninja on a SSD drive, i got 2 SSD drives for this (1) 2TB WD blue and (1) 1TB WD blue both work great and never had any skipping or anything. I can record up to 2TB of video footage this way in order to do that with SD cards i'm looking at way over $2,000.00 in SD card Prices, The 2TB WD blue only cost me less than $200.00 The Atomos Ninja V+ Cost around $800.00 but not only do you get to record on SSD drive but you get a great monitor, with all the bells and whistles and shooting out doors i can see the image even in harsh sunlight.. I highly recommend getting the Ninja V+ with this camera it will make your entire shooting experience way better and put you more at ease.. I'm using 2 lenses for this mostly what i use that works great is (1) Sony E PZ 18-105mm f/4 G OSS Lens (2) Sony FE 12-24mm f/2.8 G Master The 12-24 gives me the sharpest results and so i use that lens the most, i only slap on the 18-105 if i need that extra reach, but for the most part the12-24 is my go to lens, that is the one i always have on my camera almost always.. You can see on my channel here the results of what get from this system, and Because i have the Ninja V+ i have the ability to shoot in 4K RAW, which i do from time to time, but most of the time i have no reason to shoot in RAW i just shoot at 4:22 ALL I Prores, i just make sure i have my white balance set well when i shoot and i have no worries. Now i do have 2 ProGrade Digital CFexpress 2.0 Type A Memory Card (Gold) 480 GB size, for $ 449.99 each, I use these incase i need to shoot at 120 FPS i mostly shoot at 60 FPS recording to the Ninja V+ works fine, how ever if i need to go to 120 FPS i use the CF express type A cards for that.. For some reason the Sony FX30 Blocks you from shooting at 120 FPS to the Ninja V+ which it can do and does it with other camera's but Sony Blocks you from going to 120 FPS to the NINJA, WHY MY guess is because Sony wants to sell their CF express type A cards, because they own the CF Express type A system so when ever a CFexpress type A card is sold Sony Gets paid, they don't own the CFexpress type B which is faster and you can get 1TB cards cheaper So Sony insist on the Type A cards, that is the downfall they are expensive and not as good as the CFexpress type B system. Sony Can fix this with a firmware update easily to allow you to record at 120 FPS to the Ninja V+ because the Ninja V+ is capable of doing it, you can do that with one of the Canon Camera's.. So Sony needs to buckle down and come up with a firmware update to allow this.. Other than that, the Sony FX30 is a great camera, and if you insist on a Full Frame System go with the Sony FX3, it will cost more but you get better low light shooting.. But if your ok With Super 35, (APSC) system the Sony FX30 is the best out there right now, and works fantastic, no complaints with this camera, very reliable camera system.

    Looks bad and too jerky for tracking but likely perfect for framing when the camera is in physically hard to reach place like near ceiling to get overhead shots. This is actually what I was looking for. And unlike a remote controlled gimbal, it does not require careful balancing (who has time for that?). Btw, I think some gimbals have the smooth tracking feature that you want.
