Coma Of Souls is my all time favourite, the perfect balance between aggression and melody. The first stuff is absolutely essential and It was a huge influence for the first black metal bands. Last stuff, for me, is not as good, abusing of sing-a-long choruses, lack of the classic evil in Kreator's music.

Big Van Halen fan here, grew up with my dad really loving them so I've gotten big into 'em over the years. Whether it be the DLR or Sammy solo stuff, Sammy Hagar & The Circle, all of them, I love them all nowadays. For my ranking this'll be a weird one as my tastes have changed with Van Halen, as I used to dismiss the Sammy albums due to the mixing and production, always saying there was some amazing material in there... but then the remasters came out (I think they're more like remixes), and what I always thought was there shined through, now I love them a ton. I also was lucky enough to have seen Sammy on the Best Of All Worlds Tour last week which was AMAZING and made some special songs even more special for me now. Truly in my #10 favorite bands of all time man. #12 - VH III: Never need to hear it again, like ever... the songs are too long, seem to have little direction, and Gary didn't fit with the group in my opinion. #11 - OU812: Never been a fan of this one, I enioy some songs such as Sucker in a 3 Piece, Source of Infection, and A.F.U., Finish What Ya Started as well. But the mix in general isn't my thing and it just seems flat. #10 - A Different Kind of Truth: Once again a great album, despite Eddie's guitar and the Alex going crazy on the drums, Dave's vocals were already going out, and it just feels as incomplete without Mikey's vocals / screams. #9 - Balance: I really enjoy this album, it's heavy and Grungy for Van Halen. Seventh Seal is heavy, Big Fat Money sounds like an oldschool DLR Van Halen track, Can't Stop Lovin' You, while cheesy is fun and something for the ladies lol. #8 - 1984: Contrary to your views, this is a hits album for me, the deep cuts just don't do it for some reason in my opinion. Yes they're all classic Van Halen, and great when I'm on a Van Halen kick, but I've found when I go for this album, I just want Panama, Hot For Teacher, and Jump and the rest is just "enjoyable"... Maybe that's because I haven't worn them out yet though haha. #7 - Women and Children First: This album is definitely where the heavier side of Van Halen came in. Romeo Delight, Everybody Wants Some!, And The Cradle Will Rock are amazing; however, Toro Toro! and Loss of Control just don't do it for me. - Going forward these are all interchangeable depending on the month haha! #6 - Van Halen II: What used to be my favorite, I've since soured on just a little, maybe I just overplayed it... D.O.A., Women In Love, Light Up The Sky, Somebody Get Me a Doctor, holy crap the whole album is outstanding, I just overplayed it most likely. #5 - For Unlawful Carnal Knowledge: Coming back to real drums on this one, thank god, there's a real kick on this again, it's heavy, it's rockin', it's Van Halen baby. Judgement Day, The Dream is Over, Top of the World, Pleasure Dome... this has been spinning the most lately in my household. #4 - Diver Down: Strange one here, but I love this album so much, the vibe, the mix and production, the tracklist. It's just a very fun album, it's like a summer album if that makes sense. Where Have All The Good Times Gone, Pretty Woman, Full Bug, man it's fun. Love Happy Trails as a closer as well. #3 - Fair Warning: Unchained and Sinner's Swing, need we say more? Well yes, the bass and guitar tone on this thing are absolutely brutal. Mean Street, Dirty Movies, Hear About it Later... man cannot go wrong. #2 - 5150: Since the remix came out last year, I've been in love with this one. Love the intro to Good Enough, yeah it's cheesy but Dave was always cheesy so it fits for me. The Bass sound is killer, Eddie was being so innovative with the Synthwork and Guitars as always, Mikey and Sammy's voices worked very well together. Only thing that could make this better would be if Alex dropped the drum pads for REAL drums. But 5150, Dreams, and Best of Both Worlds are favorite of mine, not just from the album but all time. #1 - Van Halen I: It just has to be for me, Ain't Talkin' 'Bout Love, You Really Got Me, Atomic Punk, could go on with all the songs... it's perfect! Wanted to add this as I love the band so much, top #10 songs in no real order: Unchained 5150 The Dream is Over Best of Both Worlds Runaround Top of the World Runnin' with the Devil Humans Being Sinner's Swing Panama If ya read this essay, thanks brother haha, very much appreciated :)

Always happy to share my opinions in relation to music, especially when they're so drastically different from others' haha As for Sammy, yeah he truly is ageless, he sounds as good as ever in my opinion, Mikey too, he still has that high note, and then Satch and Jason were phenomenal on the guitar and kit respectively. Only been to three shows technically so far... Metallica (did both nights), Garth Brooks and now Sammy haha, don't think I have a favorite honestly, they all blew it out the water with how good they were!

Man I really dig Exodus, glad to see a truly great live album from Exodus finally. Really want to see them on the current tour, coming 45 minutes my place for 41.50 USD only. Trying to get my father to go but man we're going to a ton already and at this point, getting more time off is a bit of a deal breaker for us, maybe... If you've ever seen Exodus live, do you think it's worth it?

Like I say you have to pick your battles lol. For me shows ALWAYS involve travel, at least 2-5 hours by car or the bigger shows I’d have to fly to Edmonton or Calgary. I don’t go to many these days, mostly I just don’t have the time. I’ve seen Exodus 2 times, 2004 & 2010, both times the crushed! Let me know if you end up going & if it was awesome 🤘

  • @Duality_of_Man

@@darcysixstringsninelives3493 fair enough, totally feel you with the travel. Got a few shows already lined up that are roughly 2-4 hours depending on traffic, so I was very surprised to see Exodus play a small venue "close" by lol. That's really cool that you've seen them both with Zetro and Rob, both are great singers and somehow fit the band so well. Definitely will let ya know how it goes if I end up getting some tickets!

Definitely agree with you about Technical Ecstasy, it's actually a very pleasant listen... the remix on the deluxe box set makes it even better in my opinion. My two favorites are: Paranoid - Despite many of the songs being so overplayed in my youth, I still love the title track, Iron Man, War Pigs, etcetera (I always forget how good the latter half of Iron Man is, the solo is great) Electric Funeral is also a favorite of mine Love the mix as well, and it's a perfect length album, I like my albums shorter, 30-40 minutes. Sabotage - this is what got me into Sabbath, I'd heard Hole in the Sky from Pantera, and Symptom of the Universe from Metallica's little mid concert jams in the 90's. Those tracks are heavy as all hell... Megalomania is my all-time favorite Sabbath song, definitely their magnum opus song in my opinion. Thrill of it All and The Writ too? Phenomenal, something about the mixing and production, Ozzy's vocals on this, all of it makes a perfect album in my eyes. Glad to see we were on the same page about Sabotage, seems I'm always seeing people put it lower for some reason... but hey memusic is subjective, that's what makes it fun haha.

I used to love the live albums in my collection but i'm not so fussed at all now. Much prefer watching dvds/blurays. Totally gutted when i found out that two of the tracks on the UFO - strangers in the night 'live' album were recorded 'live' in the studio and not at a concert and what's more, they released the two mixes (without the crowd) as a 10" RSD release. LOL. The world needs a re-release of the W.A.S.P. - Live At The Lyceum, London video on dvd/bluray, WITHOUT the garbage 'americanised' crowd overdubbing they did to it. The crowd noises don't even match up with what's happening on screen. Hopefully they have all the footage somewhere with the original crowd noise but i doubt it very much after all this time

I go back a ways. The live albums I was raised on: 1. KISS ALIVE 2 (btw - the studio songs on side 4 are GREAT! I thought "Rockin' in the USA" and "All American Man" were good enough to play live) 2. QUEEN LIVE KILLERS - I was raised listening to this favorite band of mine. 3. JUDAS PRIEST - Unleashed in the East - the first live album I owned. 4. IRON MAIDEN - Live After Death - the DVD concert still I think remains their best. 5. UFO - Strangers in the Night 6. Honorable Mention goes to... SAXON - Rock & Roll Gypsies

I saw Slayer on the "Decade..." tour. They announced an aditional show just one week before in my area. Before the internet the news didn´t spread so I saw them in front of 400, maybe 500 people. That was probably my fave concert ever out of the hundreds I´ve seen over the decades. One of my favourite live albums is still "Tokyo Tales" by Blind Guardian. Recorded in 1992 on the "Somwhere far Beyond" tour. It´s a raw, stipped back version of the band without the bombast, I love it!

Great choice on Savatage! Priest Live and Maiden's Live After Death will always be special to me. First albums I bought from both bands. (Of course, then I went back and picked up their entire catalogs!). I remember getting them on cassette the same day at the local mall's record store. Actual music stores back then lol! They surprisingly had a TV commercial which drew me to Priest Live. My brother also kept stealing the Maiden tape. We wore out multiple copies. Great memories!

Sometimes a live album is a good introduction to a band I know decade of aggression was mine with slayer while I'm not the biggest live album person I do enjoy them but it has to be a 2cd one these days great video darcy also have you done an annihilator album ranking yet? I have the 1st two albums and have recently picked up a couple of the latter era ones really enjoying their music thanks as always!
