have you ever watched Queer as Folk, Ben Whishaw, because I watched QAF then A Very English Scandal, I don’t know, yeah, isn’t Russell T Davies irresistible? So someday a fan girl I knew from fandoms, she said to me, like that yeah you should watch Cloud Atlas, then I was like I didn’t know, the movie was in the package of my television, but strange, i clicked it once, the movie wasn’t in play, I gave up. however i watched Cloud Atlas, I really liked it, yeah I think QAF is someway more catchy, but Cloud Atlas is reflective, like The Matrix

Ben was a tiny bit too throaty on certain notes for me. He was really good though. I haven’t ever heard him sing it and I thought it was nice. I cannot say that anyone is better than Ramin though because his voice and method are so pure and his natural talent just impresses me so much. And John Owen-Jones I enjoy listening to as well, but I just don’t get phantom vibes from him haha

16 years later :D Great video. I don’t believe in the unfair „canon“ story of James. I feel like creators just wanted to show such fate, but didn’t really take his true character arc into account. I remember watching it some years ago as a kid (for the first time) and not believing in his downfall at all. Very sad, because the trilogy is actually great, excluding this one story messed up. I totally understand, why he would get drunk after losing his life, but the pre-story of that is a major plot hole. Commodore Norrington is a noble officer of the British Royal Navy, very skilled, concentrated and responsible. He would’ve never behaved foolish and lost his ship and crew. He would’ve never resigned or gone to Tortuga. According to Elizabeth he is a rich gentleman. Ne, I don’t believe he would literally lose everything and become a homeless dirty drunk person)

By the way, Agents of SHIELD series got launched, because thousands of fans have „signed a petition“ for bringing Phil Coulson back - the hashtag bringcoulsonback has swept the internet after his death in Avengers:) Maybe, it worked, because Marvel creators are a little bit like a fanfiction community - open-minded and more connected to the audience. Maybe it would’ve worked for James too, but it was other times back then and there weren’t enough supporters out there. Maybe the authors just wanted him out. Anyway, seeing the „new“ Pirates, I think it‘s better James is not there. This is not his level of quality. The picture is bad, the plot is bad, the make-up is bad, the wigs are bad, the supporting characters are bad, only Johnny makes it look ok from time to time. James deserves better) and he gets it in our fanfiction and fan videos. Now, as they killed him off, he belongs to us only and we can tell his true story with all the respect😏

This is a tough decision: In staging, I truly prefer Ben Lewis and the Australian version over the Ramin Karimloo and the West End version. Both gentlemen have put an indelible mark on the role, so choosing a favorite truly depends on my mood at the time. If I'm in a contemplative mood, then Mr. Lewis is the one I choose, if I'm feeling the need to express darker emotions, then I choose Mr. Karimloo. Having said this, I must confess that this is my first exposure to Mr. Owen-Jones in the role (so the ranking could change).

Yes Ramin’s version is more raw to me, the wound still feels very fresh as if he lost Christine just yesterday, but then his Phantom has always come across as more wild like that to me. Ben’s take is more of a deep deep anguish, you really get the sense that he’s suffered with this pain for years and it’s a wound that just won’t close…I love both versions for how different they are. As for John, I like how he sang the song but I haven’t seen him play the role in Love Never Dies so its hard for me to really judge his version, it’s beautiful but then he always has a gorgeous voice.

I'm just gonna say, I am not a huge Ben Lewis fan. I think his acting is surface-level and quite cartoonish. Nonetheless, I think Anna does a spectacular job as Christine. I do not AT ALL think Ben could have done POTO. I'm trying to set aside my bias for Ramin in this. He was quite young when this was recorded, only in his twenties, and was originating this version of the phantom, so he had literally nothing to work off of. His 'Til I Hear You Sing' is absolutely enchanting. In all honesty, though, I think he is more suited for POTO. Maybe now, now that he is in his fourties, could he try this role again. I feel like Ramin and Sierra well do the younger versions of these roles while Anna and Ben do the older versions well. I'm struggling to say I prefer Ben in this role as I'm not a fan, but I think Ramin brings a younger energy to the role that doesn't really work in this production. Nonetheless, Ramin is overall a much better phantom. He can move mountains with his voice. Now that his voice has aged, I would like to see him try this again, maybe when Funny Girl closes on Broadway. Maybe even with Anna. That would be interesting. I know I'm saying what many comments have said, but Rierra is better for POTO. I'm overall not a big fan of LND, so this is weird territory for me. But no doubt is Ramin the better singer/actor. I struggle to understand how some people overall prefer Ben over Ramin. But everyone is entitled to their own opinions. I do think both sets of actors have different ways of doing this song. Ramin and Sierra have a more melancholy take on the song. Ben and Anna play it angrily. One is a stage audio and one is a cast recording. God, listening to Ramin's voice right now, it really is ear candy. I don't understand why any would think that ALW should call this Lewis's show. Both men do fantastically. All in all, Sierra and Ramin are the best and most iconic Phantom-Christine duo. Fight me.

I don’t feel you can really just go by a voice recording of the song to judge it, you have to WATCH them perform it, and frankly I don’t think their is much contest once you’ve seen Ramin and Sierra actually do this scene together, they just have this once in a lifetime, chemistry that is rare to find between actors but when it’s their EVERYONE and their mother can see it. I personally have a hard time watching Ramin perform with another Christine or Sierra with another Phantom because they just seem to go together like pair in my mind LOL. That’s the reason they got Phantom 25th because Webber fell in love with their chemistry. I wish they had just filmed the London version of Love Never Dies instead of the Australian version so everyone could have seen their take on it…because bad sets aside it was their chemistry that really made it work the best, in my option. And I don’t hate the Australian show, nor do I hate Ben and Anne but Ramin and Sierra are just in another league to me.

Ramin has an ability to emphasize the right words and in the right way. His musical articulation is just amazing. They all have wonderful voices. Ben Lewis is a good singer, but I don't feel a desire to hear the song again when he sings it. JOJ is fine, but the song doesn't flow enough because he pauses just a bit too long on certain words. But I do appreciate that they all attempt to own the song while they sing it.
