Lessya’s Leaves

Lessya’s Leaves

Hi guys! Welcome to my channel! My name is Alessya, and I'm 22 years old. I want to share my love of plants with you all! I've always loved plants because I come from a plant loving family, but I recently got into houseplants. My collection has grown a crazy amount, and I want to be able to bond with other plant lovers! My channel consists of plant unboxings, hauls, tours and plant care tips. I hope you enjoy my videos! 💚Thank you so much for watching! 💚

Yes your video makes us keep an open mind when buying splashy or variegated hoyas or plants in general...the variegation or splashiness sometimes revert back to the original green ...and this is because sometimes they are not stable, sometimes they need more light and exposure...knowing this, like you, I'm not too interested in variegations because it's harder to check for pests like mealy bugs and others that are camouflaged in the splashy leaves...also when they flower, it's a better contrast on a green leaves than variegated leaves....it looks more stunning as it doesn't compete with the variegations....

Help! My hoya carnosas are dying! (All 20 of them!) We had a really bad freeze 3 years ago with no power and everyone of them froze) i started buying some this year at different H.D. and they are all dying. I'm thinking that i may need to repot them. What type of soil do you recommend? It looks like root rot even though a few of them seem to be dry. In other words, some have moist soil and some dry but they are all dying. (Got them from the same big box store just different locations.)

So you said don't buy a plant that's going extinct and is hard to grow but you got another one and crossed your fingers. It's gonna go extinct if people follow your lead. Don't you think? Crossing fingers isn't a method of preventing a species extinction.

Fascinating I have some vermiculite I may try that! The simplest way for me though was actually water! I didn’t have to buy anything , just cut off an existing plant.

I killed three lacunosa. I know they take more water than hoyas like carnosa, but they dice like bottom watering at all!

I just got a Villosa and the fuzzy texture of the underside of the leaves sent me looking for other fuzzy hoyas. It's the best!

Any plant enthusiasts on here that say they use Miracle Grow send me away from their channels. In my college biology class we studied the company, and it’s unscrupulous. On top of that the ingredients/chemicals in many of their fertilizers have been linked to Parkinson’s disease.

wish there would have been more info... how much light? humidity? temps? that way we could figure out if they could grow for US not just in whatever conditions you grew them?

I once in Miami Beach found a discarded bird’s nest and used for my hanging hoya off a tree outside the kitchen door, I used a wire clothe hanger for that , worked just fine, sprayed it with Lipton tea regularly, I like coconut coir , coconut bark

Dont forget to rotate your plants! Theyll always stretch towards the sun, but rotating keeps them from leaning over in a single direction. Literally just spin the pot around every few days lol

Kid what the heck are you doing to get so many leaves on those hoyas? I'm looking at that Elliptica and it's got more leaves than mine(mine is 18 inches tall). You're on to something and I wanna know what it is!

Hi. Thanks for your video. I’ve been looking into this plant to grow out of a fish tank. It will definitely be a humid area so hopefully it works out. I love the look of it and I read it’s non-toxic to cats which is what lead me to this one.

If it looks like little tiny pieces of cotton, you've got mealy bugs......they LOVE to build up in the crevasses between a stem and a new leaf/stem about to emerge OFF that main stem. They are hard to get rid of in one fell swoop, def keep an eye afterwards!

Can I use artificial light to try to get my hoya to bloom? My house has no north or south windows. Only east and west. I live in Eastern Washington (the state) and this time of year it us usually overcast every day. I have one Hoya near an east facing sliding door and the other is next to the west facing living room window. Because of the type of window treatment on the slider (east side) it doesn't get quite as much light. I try to adjust the blinds as to get the most light. Can I just turn on the light in the room??

I use moss in huge prop boxes and never have rot. If used properly. Moisten and squeeze out the excess water. Keep the lit on the box you never have to add water!! I have 87 varieties of Hoya and this is how I prop them all. Use clear totes with clear lids!! It does not touch your leaves and works amazing!! I hate Leca and water prop. I am with Harley on this one.
