Your experience has been so useful to me, after seeing a video where you talked about your dislike of moss and love of leca, I moved my dying polyneura cutting (very expensive in the UK!) from moss into leca and it's grown a bunch of roots and now sprouting a new leaf, so thankful for that advice!

Yay a new Lessya video! So informative! Thank youuuu 💕 +a note on yellowing new growth (from my recent experience) - might want to check for pests! I have a rotundiflora that suddenly started to yellow and drop baby leaves, and it turned out to be mealybugs 😭 But no worries she’s all better now and pushing out new baby leaves 😉

I have , i think it's a publicalyx splash. And I swear. I have to constsntly be checking on it because most often than not I will find aphids on the new tender growth. My friend owns a nursery says she sprays with diluted fabuloso. I started doing the same with diluted, diluted fabuloso. Also thos black/brown fuzzy worms like to take up residence underneath leaves and come up at night to eat. You can tell by droppings on leaves. Hunt them down!!!!

Lessya I really agree with you about diluting the fertilizer that makes a lot of sense

I came across the same issues as you with lechuza pon... price, access and apprehension that my plants wouldn’t take to it. Then I deep dove into alternatives and saw the mixes that folks were making online. One day I came across a bonsai soil that was the exact same concept. So it may be a fun tip for people to opt for an inorganic/compost-less bonsai soil. It’s definitely cheaper than lechuza pon and you don’t have to fuss with buying several components or testing proportions.

I am completely new to fertilizing, and I don’t want to overdo it with nutrient dense soil, slow release fertilizers, and liquid fertilizers. I recently tossed all of my MG products (thank you again for your Hoya Soil Mix video!!) and bought some new organic soil that contains bat guano and other fish nutrients. I added worm castings to my soil mix - which looks very similar to what you created in your soil mix video - but I don’t want to overwhelm my plants (Hoyas, Pothos, and Peperomia mostly) with fertilizers. Can you go into detail about how often someone should use each type of fertilizer, and if the various fertilizers are exclusive of one another? Is leaf burn the only sign that tells you to back off fertilizing?

I just use osmocote on my Hoyas when repotting and that’s all they grow big lush and with peduncles, I started doing that when noticing my Hoyas from Gardino always had some

i have all my hoyas and monstera albo in lechuza pon and they looooove it ! and no flushing day ! very easy and safe , i dont like leca at all only for propagation sometimes

Just purchased my second Hoya its a small starter I believe its Krimson Princess.. I put into leca and its loving it. I'm new to Leca . My other Hoya is the all green one. I've had for years and its so so big and in soil and very root bound. Can't wait for the Little Princess to grow up.

If it's rootbound, why have you not repotted? Just do not go to a much bigger pot.

I recently got two Hoyas and although I have them under grow lights, I feel like the soil mixture for one or even both isn’t helping them at all. I want to switch and wanted to know how to go about transferring my plants to the mixture you’re using in this video but also how the watering works. Would be the same as with soil?

I’d spent over a year only watering my hoyas when the leaves were flimsy (as soon many people recommend). I kept getting baby leaves falling off and someone told me it was because of underwatering. Since then they are all doing SO much better! I also just tried leca for the first time with my callistophylla and she is LOVING IT. I may need to convert the rest of them but I’m a little scared 😂

I was just thinking that today! I have had two baby leaves fail recently. One on a macrophylla and one on a deykeae and it made me so sad. I was just thinking today that I may be under-watering them.

Do you do the finger in the soil test? And what I have begun to do lately is water from the bottom. Let them drink to their hearts content, then be sure and drain the excess. It is trial and error; just don't wait til the plant is dying. Also before fertilizing, make sure you have watered the plant , i would think straight fertilizer on the roots would be a bit harsh. I am doing the 'natural' fertilizer method: crushed egg shells banana peels, etc. But be careful, you don't want to attract unwanted visitors. I had brought my hoya inside for the 'winter' and check on them. Had notice a leaf on one that was kind of eaten away. Took a close look today and had a snail attached. Must have been munching all that time

is it fair to say that hoya bella, lacunosa and polyneura tend to need more water than other hoyas? I can't seem to get the watering right on these

I've been collecting Hoyas for the past 4 years and I fertilize my Hoyas once a month and it works. I also use the Alaska fish fertilizer and they love it.

I have the fish emulsion and have been intending to try a diluted portion; but, quite frankly, since there are stray cats am afraid they will knock the plants downs because of smell? Just my theory

Does the pon use a reservoir like the leca method?

My most prolific bloomer is my Krinkle 8, summer and fall. Don't know what you mean by sun stressing? Direct sun? I wouldn't do that cause the the leaves would definitely burn. I get dappled sunlight; use a screen as a barrier

Yeah, this growing season vs last growing season is like night & day since I upped the fertilizer 🙃so much so, that I might continue fertilizing during the winter, but with just an organic/weaker one. & you’re hair looks much healthier & bouncier since the chop 😉💇🏽‍♀️

I use ebsom salts, and grown green it's chicken poop. It's organic. I only have vanilla orchids inside. And outside roses, Barbados cherry, anochio orchid tree, fire spike humming birds like it.

I LOVEEEEE Hoyas!!! But. They. Don’t. Love. Me. Back...

I switched over a ton of my plants to inorganic bonsai mix. I think it's similar to Pon. I buy the Bonsai Jack's brand. They sell big bags of it for like $30. If you follow winter_morgen on Insta she's got really good info on soil-less growing. She's not doing hydroponics or anything.... just subbing soil for the bonsai mix. The roots grow really well in bonsai mix.

This video was super helpful! I just got a Caudata in LECA and Rotundiflora in soil. Do you have any care tips for those? Also, I was thinking of getting a small cheap humidifier and indoor greenhouse to keep more of my Hoyas in. Do you think you could keep grow lights in one of those indoor greenhouses? Do you have any indoor greenhouse and small cheap humidifier recommendations?

I always have my recommendations linked in my description! ☺️ the caudata and rotundiflora are very similar to other hoyas in terms of care and I dont think I have any specific tips for them! 💚💚
