I love walking for the cortisol lowering effects. It's just so hot right now and the deer fly are a bother. If I miss the morning window around 6am, I dont walk that day. Glad you can incorporate the walking into a gym trip.

Good job! It's getting very warm here. Trying to convince myself that walking inside on the treadmill isn't super boring!

Same here - we are in the mid 90s already (30s Celsius) - if I’m walking on a treadmill I usually watch KZread to help the time go by. I used to use the time to memorize and meditate on scripture.

I keep my makeup in a plastic makeup holder container stored in cupboard and have drawer in my bathroom holds extra stuff and skin care. I have a small zippered bag that holds my lipsticks ( I have lots of lipsticks). I go thru my makeup often, if I use a product and realize I don’t like it I toss it. To clean your brushes use a glycerin bar soap ( pears brand) which I find at dollar tree. I lay them flat on a towel to dry. Enjoy videos of decluttering makeup. ❤

I going to try the glycerin soap this weekend - thanks for the tip!

I think it's great that you make a point to get out for a walk even if its short. The act of getting up and out the door always feels the hardest.

Just now came across your channel for the first time. This topic is one I have faced. I tried doing the daily walking as part of a healthier goal. Didn't work for me because I hate doing anything because "I should". I joined a running/walking group whose mission was to walk for health and/or train for a 5K, half-marathon, or marathon. It was awesome being with like-minded and enthusiastic people. Everyone got a printout of their walking "homework" for each day of the week, depending on what their specific goal was. This daily walking was a pleasure to do because I looked forward to meeting up with everyone, and we all wanted to keep up with each other. I lasted some years, but eventually stopped because the Summer training in 100+ degree weather became too much for me. During my time with the group I participated in many 5K's and completed a half-marathon. I also learned that although I never want to do a marathon, I enjoy 5K's and participate in as many local ones as possible. This coming May, I have two: May 4 and May 19. I walk because I want to participate and be around lots of people of all ages having a good time enjoying the outdoors and caring for their health. I walk, not because "I should" and it's a good health practice, but because I want to. I suggest you check with your newspaper, hospital, community center, etc., to get information on upcoming charitable, or fun walks/runs. Also Google "upcoming 5ks in (type your city in) and you will get a listing. You will also see that there are a number of organizations that you can subscribe to that will alert you of upcoming walks/runs in your area. I'm subscribing with the hope of, over time, seeing the discouraged woman I am now watching, become one aware of all the lovely possibilities. P.S. I empathize with your migraines, as my husband also suffers terribly from them. Blessings...

In March I decided to try to get back in to walking and try to stay active even if it’s playing tennis for 30 minutes and for the most part I have 5 days a week . Today we walked for 44 minutes and it felt good! Walking buddy’s

I haven't started moving yet but I am starting my first attempt at eating healthy now at 50 years old and around 165 pounds. Developing new habits takes a big change in mindset and determination to make the change. Baby steps have been my approach, as I can be a perfectionist too and I don't want to fall off the bandwagon if I set my goals too an unreachable high. 10 days in, I already feel an improvement in my health. When I get this healthy eating more of a routine, it may finally be warm enough to incorporate the exercise. Hopefully by winter, my habits will be ingrained enough to keep going! I will watch and be encouraged. Best wishes!

That was my thought also. It's why I got a dog. She makes me walk. It's difficult to say no when she goes and gets her leash and waits by the door.
@mckilliplife4 ай бұрын
Thanks for tuning in! I agree it would be of benefit except neither of our dogs walk well on a leash and makes it so you can’t walk at speed. So either walk for yourself, or walk for the dogs, but not both. Also, Dutch the fluffy one, is going blind and both of them get anxiety when separated so it’s really best to walk them with two people.

In an evil twist of irony, my Sicilian American wife is gluten-allergic. We usually make two of every pasta dish, one with “normal” pasta and one with the gluten-free version that usually tastes like epoxy. Which brand do you find works best with this? And does the final product have the mouth-feel of wheat pasta or the more clumpy feel of many gluten-free versions?
@mckilliplife5 ай бұрын
I agree, finding good textured gluten free noodles is challenging. My favorite brand is Tinkyada. I also enjoy the rice noodles you get when eating Thai food - they have a nice bounce. Also, whenever working with gluten free noodles I tend to check them frequently because they can go from hard to mush or even crumbly quickly. The directions can vary as well, some want you to soak the noodles and not boil them.
