Yoshi is a dinosaur, and here is why: Yoshi's full name is T. Yoshisaur Munchakoopas. "Yoshisaur" means "Yoshi Lizard," so that would imply that he is a reptile. Furthermore, if he was a mammal, more specifically a marsupial, hed have a distinct nose, a patch of skin not covered by fur, exposing the nostrils. This is how we can tell yoshi has no fur, as if he did, it'd be shown within the design. But since the yoshi is a dinosaur, he wouldn't have this. Most mammal skulls have one thing in common: their lower jaw is made from a single strong bone, using other omnivores for a reference, bears have this. The thing is, we havent seen yoshi's skeleton- let alone his skull. But we can assume that because of how small it is compared to his upper jaw (his noze may be made out cartilage or pure fat, either way proves my point because many reptiless like crocodiles use these kinds of tissue when storing fat) that it is made from multiple bones, like reptiles and by proxy, dinosaurs. My last point will be on comparisons to other dinosaurs, specifically the rexes. Rexes are purple dragon-like dinosaurs (or dinosaur-like dragons idfk) that are a native on dinosaur island. Not by all means, they qualify as dinosaurs. They have a sharp horn sticking from their nose, which can be comparsd toma rhino, but also to a ceratasaurus. Furthermore they have a detailed underbelly akinned to crocodilians, which are apart of the archosaurid family (birds, dinosaurs, marine reptiles exc). With all of that being said, why compare them to the more the simplified yoshis? Well? Removing their wings, fangs, horn and spike and you get a slightly angry looking yoshi. Call it convergent evolution but the fact is rexes and yoshis are related, thus my final reason on why yoshi is a dinosaur. I spent too much time on this.

Actual paleontologist here- some dinosaurs are hypothesized to have attacked with their tails. For instance Google "MIRAGAIA TAIL BIOMECHANICS AND DEFENCES. EVALUATION OF THE TAIL MOBILITY AND RESISTANCE TO LOADINGS AND COLLISIONS" from last month. Also, modern reptiles like the Komodo dragon use their tails to attack, just Google "Biological Significance of the Komodo Dragon’s Tail (Varanus komodoensis, Varanidae)" from this month. It says "The primary striking force from the tail comes not only from the tail’s base but also from the pelvic part supported by strong hind limbs. When attacking, the animal often positions itself sideways to the prey, allowing it to precisely observe the location and force of its strikes. The Komodo dragon can also overturn prey by undercutting its legs." Ignoring 'cosmic' ideas of horse-ness/transportation, I didn't see much evidence in your video justifying a mammalian identification. In fact, you could have gone further and noted some mammals like whales lose their hair completely, extinct glyptodonts had shells, some ground sloths had bony armor in their skin potentially like Yoshi's midline dorsal structures, and even if Yoshi is scaly, mammals like opossums have scales on their tails so the genetics for reptile-style scales on the whole body are still there. But ultimately, the problem is that Dinosaur Land and the Mushroom Kingdom are not necessarily part of the same evolutionary history as Earth. Super Mario Odyssey certainly suggests different planets are involved. So if that's the case it's all convergent evolution and e.g. Monty isn't really related to Earth moles, so Yoshi and the koopas are not technically reptiles or mammals. Which puts them in the same thought space as many Star Wars creatures, which are technically called repto-mammals in their alien taxonomy. It also adds up with Yoshi's claim to be a dragon, for what are dragons if not beasts outside of the actual evolutionary lineage that combine reptilian and mammalian traits, can often breathe fire and/or fly? So is Yoshi a reptile or a mammal? Nope. They're a dragon.

Neat theory, but what about Yoshi's name? T. Yoshisaur Munchinkoopa. The "T" is specifically referencing the T. Rex, so we can assume that it stands for tyrannosaurus. Though, even if that's not the case, the species name is still "Yoshisaur" which clearly denotes it as a species of dinosaur.

9:41 narrator admits the whole thing is a sham, the creators made yoshi a dinosaur, yet for some reason continues the video. What five characteristics do mammals have in common? Mammals have hair or fur; are warm-blooded; most are born alive; the young are fed milk produced by the mother's mammary glands; and they have a more complex brain than other animals. Yoshi lacks evidence of fur, even in the most high def depictions. Yoshis do not give birth to live young. Yoshi lack mammary gland, the gland that makes mammals mammals. And yoshis brain is not more complex than a koopa. he partners with someone who regularly kills him. Finally, yoshi is hermaphroditic. They have aspects of both sexs humans experience. Look up the mourning gecko, they do something similar. Lay eggs without the influence of a male.

Milk isn't an ingredient in mayonnaise. However, if Yoshi has fur it may be possible to wash his fur with a solvent, Yoshi may be able to extract Yoshi oil. I'm not really sure where to start on Yoshi acid (wouldn't recommend gastric juices, they'd coagulate the egg), but you're clearly well equipped to find your way over this hurdle. Godspeed.
