I have a staffy lab cross with that condition, she was 4 when we adopted her and already had symptoms, she is now 8 and we are at the stage of knowing that we will have to make the decision soon and I just want to make sure that I do before her quality of life declines too far . It is such a hard thing to have to do because she is such a happy girl but she is getting to the stage where she falls over continually unless she has support.

I say the following in love. So you know not to presume otherwise. 😉 Dogs are not people. Right. This is an obvious truth. Yet, many people treat dogs, and even cats as if they are more important than us bipeds. 🏃‍♂️ As a delivery driver I have seen more signs that state: "cats\dogs welcome, people tolerated", than I can count! To be honest; I find that to be hateful. They may find certain people detesable but that does not mean we all are. Facts. Dogs and other critters belong outside as much as possible. Yes, take care of them, make sure they are treated correctly and use them to keep vermin and evil people away, but please know they are not sentient human beings. And the amount of money vets charge (especially in America) is sinful! Predatory loan sharks have a better moral compass than some of these vets!! 😮 This is all very true; sadly so! To say otherwise is to show a lack of understanding. Peace and blessings.

And yes, if you are wondering; I see dogs and cats in the window all the time as i drop off deliveries. 😔 I love em but cannot pet them or interact with them; the non security type that is. I have even met a few Sheppards and one Dobberman that are trained to guard/protect but are also house dogs. Pretty cool! And i respect that. I was able to pet them and then the owners explained why they were so approachable. Yes, sometimes they are mean and I need to keep away. I got it. 😉 But every time I see a critter in the window looking at me with that sad look, I know they want and need to be on the otherside of that glass. 😔 Shalom

My Scotch Collie has them. Yes it's bizarre and sickening. I used occipital compression at first sign ( usually vomiting). Sometimes it prevents and sometimes it shortens. It often happens in wee hours of morning. I'm giving him nuroplex. Seems to significantly reducing frequency. But I really need a couple years of data. Most recently he went 5 months between them. For that I am very grateful!

He would ideally be evaluated by a veterinarian. If it seems like a neurological problem, then he should be seen by a neurologist. It’s really tough to give good advice without examining him in person.

This is so informative thank you!!! My girl has 2 copies of IVDD w cddy, AND hemivertebrae w kyphosis. She has weird "episodes" daily, where she will pace across the room, plop down, then pace across again, back and forth tons of times- she trembles, her tongue sticks out (with mouth closed), her eyes widen & look far away, she drags her Hind end sometimes, involuntary bead jerks.. Her breathing I is very different. It's very scary, and we don't Even know what the cause is after taking her in to 3 vets! I feel so helpless, I'm so heartbroken for her :'(

My large cat was picked up by the scruff of the neck without having his body supported. Within days had urinary issues and started missing jump. B/c he then kept deteriorating over a 8wk period the vets seem to not believe that it's connected to a trauma. You'd think they'd want to know if scruffing is unsafe in overweight older cats. All his bloodwork (but the one that's suggestive for parasite) were normal. Vet thought blindness at first as he stopped jumping up. Staying low and near ppl. After giving him the parasite med he deteriorated or had a reaction Vet put him on steroid 4wks ago and he's better but still neurological compromise. Relapses if we try to wean him off meds. Without a MRI vet can't say. The cost is over over $3k so unlikely will be doing it.

Hello, I would like to know from you what this means for you if you have such sad experiences about what the animal goes through to film it and then put it on the internet, in the background you can hear a woman crying, I get it every time I see something like that because I don't understand you, would you also film it if your animal was If you died, you would also film it and then post it on the internet. It's really sad what the animals experienced. Shame on you

My 17yr old maltese-poodle mix got this just recently. She had never had a vestibular episode or ear issues before and it hit very suddenly. After I noticed it I had her to her vet in under an hour and we got anti-nausea medication, steroid inj, sq fluids etc to help with the symptoms. At first her head was tilting to the side a little bit but she was able to get around and walk with some occasional stumbles. 30 hours later though the balance issues were significantly worse to the point she could not do anything on her own. The anti-nausea medication wasn't helping anymore either, and she was not able to eat or drink or stand to urinate. I ended up taking her to an emergency vet, but opted not to pursue hospitalization and MRI testing. We put her to sleep just last night. A lot of what I was reading says this is normally a condition that gets better and pets are able to live a relatively good life afterwards, but with her age, worsening symptoms and other underlying health problems (renal failure that was progressing) had me and my family thinking it may be better to let her go peacefully. Been second guessing myself a lot, but I feel like it was the right decision for her own comfort.

What would be the treatment for paralysis caused by a concussive injury and what would be the prognosis. My 19-year-old dog fell forward onto his face two months ago, blacked out and four days later could not use his hind legs. He holds them rigidly straight and thus, his front legs can't reach the floor. He also holds his head down. Please help!😢

He should ideally be evaluated in person by a neurologist to determine IF the problem is neurological, WHERE the problem is, and what are the possible causes. Only then can an accurate and appropriate treatment plan be formulated. Where are you located?

My sweeet boy is 16. He started having these problems a few days ago. I'm total he's had 2 episodes... But it breaks my heart and was very scary when I first found him falling. I took him to vet and they said he was stable enough to go home and would need an appointment. He may have a ear infection, which i read can also cause this issue. He's my light and joy. I've had him since he was the size of my hand. Tony is the sweetest little Chihuahua and has never been mean or high strung. I just want him to be ok

An Era is over .. but he Rests in Blissful Peace at last.

Seizures are terrible Our not even 2 year old dog suddenly started having seizures IDENTICAL to the first dog Never seen seizures like that before Unfortunately he did not survive and we never found a cause to it but I have suspicion on brain tumor Nothing he could’ve ingested other than a PEA size amount of ringworm cream but we mentioned it to the vets and they said it couldn’t have caused it I don’t understand how a young dog can go from perfectly healthy not a single issue ever to all of a sudden having CONTINUOUS back to back seizures that would NOT STOP despite MANY MANY medications and vets Even with all the meds he kept having cluster seizures other than his last day where he was seizure free other than one Despite all that he still acted normal the times he was seizure free! I don’t understand how he wasn’t brain dead already Days of cluster seizures and rushing to the vets he went 18 hours without any Thought he was finally getting better and all the treatment was working But then one more seizure and he passed Wanted to get an autopsy but it was too much and no one would do a payment plan But after hundreds at multiple vets there was no way we could’ve afforded I wish we knew the cause Part of me questions toxoplasmosis cause I found mouse feces in the back entry where the dogs things are
