    i would love to try these things but the problem for me is that any raw fruits or vegetables cause my throat, mouth, and lips to become irritated, with what ive tested at least, with some fruits such as bananas and watermelon causing the worst irritation. idk if its correct but from what ive researched its called oral allergy syndrome and it has to do with the immune system seeing the similarities between plant pollen proteins and fruit/vegetable proteins, causing an allergic reaction

  • @AndrewFolts
    @AndrewFoltsКүн бұрын

    Dang that's really rough, watermelon is my favorite. Are you currently eating dairy, gluten, eggs, or soy? Sometimes it's not the fruit, but other inflammatory foods that put the immune system into a hyperactive state.

    Are you still raw vegan now? have you heard of Paul Nison? his channel is the raw life health show. You might get something out of it. For me though I am a foraging botanist, who believes in adding to the gut micro biome not restricting unless it is causing allergenic reactions then it should be permenantly cut out. I foraged a chicken of the woods mushroom a few months ago ate it pratically every day for a month and was fine with me but some people can have severe reactions off it, but what's interesting is this mushroom must be cooked like many other fungi to consume. So the issue I have with this raw vegan philosophy is it contradicts nature and what our ancestors have done since the dawn of time with fire to consume certain foods. So sorry no restricting to raw for me the micro biome is missing out on to much.

  • @AndrewFolts
    @AndrewFoltsКүн бұрын

    No, when I got my next HTMA hair tissue test, my results from raw vegan were very poor. I had dropped down in almost every trace element. I still eat a lot of raw vegan food, but I added back in some cooked vegan, along with high quality free range elk/bison and wild caught salmon, which made a big difference. Raw vegan was a great learning experience, but (at least for me) not sustainable as a full diet.

I wish I could eat meat though Just chucked away all my venison cassarole about an hour ago as I know it's just too risky for me to consume right now especially as the itching hasn't stopped, but I'm still going to eat wild caught fish twice a week as that's much better on the digestion than meat.

    Very interesting story. I have just started using cold pressed organic rapeseed oil on my skin as an alternative to olive mixed with lavender, aloe vera, and making fresh saint johns wort tea to help with my depression. One of the coperates are causing me severe itching. I'm going to start using black seed oil as an alternative ro the rapeseed as that is known to help with allergies, but as for the saint Johns wort my question is if it was the pollen in the flower causing the reaction, would it make a difference just using the leaves? I really need this plant and like you I never had allergies as a child but since my immune system got very week everything now seems to be an issue for me and if it wasn't for my extreme dicipline I would no doubt be dead, but despite everything being organic real food i'm still fighting a battle because it's that bad.

  • @AndrewFolts
    @AndrewFoltsКүн бұрын

    Yes...there's a reason they call it "RAPEseed" oil, ha. It can be quite irritating to the skin and digestive tract. Black seed would def be better. Coconut oil or shea butter are also good options. Your allergies are most likely coming form something you're eating. The most effective strategy is to eliminate the top allergens to see if that helps... 1. dairy 2. gluten + grains 3. eggs 4. nightshades (peppers, eggplant, etc) 5. acidic (citrus, garlic, grapefruit, etc) For vegan foods make sure you're soaking ALL your nuts, seeds, legumes, and pseudo grains (quinoa, etc) for 4-8 hours, because plant foods contain harmful "anti-nutrients" that can be mitigated by sprouting and then dehydrating or cooking/baking. More on this in my raw vegan video. kzread.info/dash/bejne/k4Cr0MVskbOvkps.html. For meats, I'd avoid chicken/pork (they're fed soy and grains) and stick with organic grass-fed free range beef/bison/elk and wild caught seafood, like salmon and scallops. I get my meet from Northstar Bison, which is excellent. bit.ly/3KuYS4g Also make sure you're filtering your drinking water, as chlorine can also cause allergies. bit.ly/48dm9lC

    @@AndrewFolts Very good advice my friend, and thank you. Most I already know. I think I will go back to using olive oil despite it not being native. Dairy have been free from for about year gluten and grains I don't have the strengh to give up, but I only have sourdough, sprouted and i just discovered soaking flour. So I am only now having rye which contains the least gluten and will be soaked. The rest of grains like millet I always soak anyway or cook very well. Nuts havn't been doing that as much but I don't consume that many often. Eggs don't have the strengh to give up but I buy them from a local organic farm. nightshades I take all of Dr gundrys advice in preperation, (removing skin and seeds to reduce the lectins) and the only one I consume really is tomatoe because I can't give up my favriout food which is curry and you can't have a curry without a tomatoe 😊 Wasn't aware of acidics causing issues but generally I only consume native foods anyway unless there reduced in store. Meat and fish is always wild definately won't eat anything farmed unless like my eggs I know the people. Remember through this itching has only come about recently so it can only really be a number of things iv'e added in recently like the rapeseed despite it being organic and cold pressed why I brought it either way it's going off the menu again! Will check out some of the videos anyway maybe I will learn some more wisdom in all this diet restriction unfair madness!

    Every material comes with its own ethical issues. Even vegan materials can have serious issues, like deforestation, habitat disruption, shooting/trapping/poisoning animals to protect crops, poor work conditions, waste and toxicity from plastics, or even from chemicals required to process natural fibers. If I tried to only review products that eliminated all those issues 100%, there would be nothing left, nor an audience large enough to make a living. So my goal is just to move people in a better direction. I'd rather someone buy a pair of Toetem sandals that's made in the USA with leather from animals that were respected and given a high degree of freedom to live as naturally as possible than a pair of cushioned Nike's made with slave labor that will ultimately damage their feet and the environment when they wear out in a few months.

    Did you mean iodine is controversial as folk get too much of it or because they get too little?

  • @AndrewFolts
    @AndrewFolts2 күн бұрын

    Too little. The official RDA of iodine is set only to prevent goiters and (literal) mental retardation, but I regularly take at least 50x that amount with consistently positive results for focus/energy, etc, Iodine is the precursor to thyroid hormone synthesis, which is why the standard is set so low ("do no harm"), but in my opinion this leaves most people in a state of chronic brain fog and exhaustion needing caffeine/sugar just to function. As with any supplement, it's important to listen to your body and scale up slowly.

    I like that style with a cork on top but I use the zero Shoes Z Trail whatever it’s just the rubber bottoms and I love them, but it would be interesting to have the cork and one thing I don’t like about my zero shoes is it heal cup and you know I do get that it does protect your heel when it’s put on something so if you have your feet up and you put your feet on something Your heels are protected, but I don’t think that’s too many use cases too that there’s too many use cases to make that point of having. I I may be getting these when my Zee trails are done as far as usability perhaps next year, even down to the logo it looks very much like a shoe but yeah that’s a it’s a cool and I will likely buy these at some point thank you for the review that it’s really cool to see different brands come out with things I’ve heard of Moki Shoes, but I haven’t bought anything from their site. I pretty much have what I want. I got a couple pair of Evo, barefoot Gies, I’ve got the trails. I’ve got Merrell vapor gloves and what else I have anyway I have pretty much all the different varieties. I’d like I wanted the I wanted the Wildling Shoes that slip on they’re called the jami I think. Hey Andrew! Love your reviews. I am new to barefoot shoes, but after buying a pair of Vivos and experienced the comfort they provide i don´t see myself coming back to "normal" shoes. Anyway - I am a mountain guide in Madeira and Canary islands and looking for a breathable, yet water resistant barefoot shoe/ boot. The terrain here is a mix of rocky trails with some sharp rocks, some softer ground and occasional wet/muddy surfaces. I am abit undecided between the Magna Forest ESC (like the more rugged sole as the one in my current Tracker decon low wears quite quickly) and the Magna lite WR, which in theory looks more breathable. Which one would you recommend for warmer climates for surfaces as described? Thank you!

  • @AndrewFolts
    @AndrewFolts3 күн бұрын

    Hey Jan, props on taking the barefoot leap! The Magna Lite probably wouldn't be a good pick if your Decon's wore out, because the tread is even more geared toward soft ground. The Magna ESC could be a good pick and offers excellent protection, but it does feel heavier. The Magna FG would be a good alternative with some solid protection and much better flex, more like the Decon's, but also more versatility for firm ground and rocks. kzread.info/dash/bejne/gI19uattZ8vVn6Q.html

    I wonder how long it may be before the upper starts separating from the outsole. I wish they stitched the sidewalls also, like the Decons.

  • @AndrewFolts
    @AndrewFolts4 күн бұрын

    Yea, me too. Stitching can compromise the WP somewhat, but I think it'd be worth it for some extra protection from wear. That said, I've not had any of my Vivo's separate significantly, even after seven years with some. Keeping your stride shorter helps, so that the rubber/upper don't crease as much and get strained.

    What would you pick between the tracker decon & Scrambler mid in terms of comfort?

  • @AndrewFolts
    @AndrewFolts4 күн бұрын

    Tracker Decon. The Scrambler was very stiff and not really barefoot, IMO. The Xero Denver is a much better option kzread.info/dash/bejne/k3ptj8aCl5XPn9I.html and more similar to the Decon. kzread.info/dash/bejne/a4Vt27CPm7zcl7w.html The main difference is that the Decon is better for all-season use, while the Denver is insulated and best used below 70º.

    Its always strange when a channel you're subscribed to posts something relevant to your recent interests. Have been looking into getting the Remarkable 2 for note taking and ebooks. Also just ordered my first pair of barefoot shoes today. The Birchbury Bramfords. Anyways, thanks for the vid. I'll use it as a sign. Haha

    Yea, I love it when I find a channel that's weirdly aligned with a number of different things I'm currently thinking about. I tried the Remarkable and even though it didn't work for me as an illustrator due to the lack of larger brush sizes, the drawing experience was fantastic. Birchbury's seem great, let me know how they work out!

    It's actually easier than having to plug in to a computer, because you just go the dashboard site and upload your MP3's, which automatically get transferred to your LP.

    Watching all your barefoot content and I just saw this. They had this in the late 90s, it was called Palm Pilot. 😏

    Yea, the shape is quite Palm Piloty! I remember when I won this fake Blackberry thing in a school raffle back before cell phones had gone mainstream. I was the most popular kid in my class for like a solid two hours, ha.

    i saw you turn your carboard LP3 sideways for texting lol do you know if it'll have sideways texting? that's one of my favorite things about the LP2 and I'm afraid i'll miss it if i upgrade. Great video though! I'm thinking of making a cardboard LP3 myself so I can feel it out.:) It kinda seems really big and clunky compared to the LP2 but I do love the design

  • @AndrewFolts
    @AndrewFolts4 күн бұрын

    It probably won't need sideways texting due to the larger screen I just did that reflexively after owning the LP2 for years, ha. But yea, I do hope they'll give users an option to flip it. It's certainly bigger, but there have been a few moments where I had to text someone quickly and the tiny LP2 keyboard was a real nightmare. The battery too is a big deal. I was just traveling and got stuck into a real bind, because my LP2 died and I forgot my charger.

    Hi Andrew, Couple of questions. Do you recommend these as a casual item as well? And, do you prefer the black or dress blue colour in this boot?

  • @AndrewFolts
    @AndrewFolts4 күн бұрын

    They do look classy in black, I'm not a fan of blue, but that's just me. They'd be overkill for casual, especially for lots of walking on concrete and in hot weather, since they're WP and insulated for winter. The Gobi Boot (uninsulated version) would be more comfortable and even more classy. kzread.info/dash/bejne/ioujo8V-h9HSe84.html

    @AndrewFolts the new ones look very different and have leather styling whereas a few weeks ago they also launched some lace-up canvas shoes in other colors. I ordered the gunmetal color. The new canvas, freestyle 2.0, the trim on top appears to be less offset.... if that makes sense. I haven't received them yet.

    if they confirm spotify api id heavily consider this

  • @AndrewFolts
    @AndrewFolts4 күн бұрын

    They're working on it, but it sounds like it's more a problem with Spotify no cooperating than with technical challenges on Light's end, so I'd send Spotify a support request, which I've done also. Drop in the water, but hey, at least we can try. One workaround is to use the tool NoteBurner to download some of your Spotify playlists as MP3's and then upload them to the LP.
