Texas Search and Rescue is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit founded in 2005. TEXSAR's carefully screened and professionally trained base of more than 200 active volunteers support emergency management, law enforcement, fire departments and other first responders across Texas during times of emergency. Deploying at the request of the Governor; local, state and federal emergency response agencies; and relief organizations, TEXSAR responds on a moment's notice around the clock. There is never a charge for TEXSAR's services. TEXSAR's member volunteers pay for the majority of their training, gear and equipment. TEXSAR volunteers provide support in search and rescue; wildland fire; flood and swiftwater; incident management; and emergency response. TEXSAR personnel are certified according to state and federal standards.
