My current fave tennis player, now that Thiem is set to retire, and Nadal almost 😭 Andrey reminds me a lot of Faramir in LOTR, the actor who played that role. Love love love Rublo 💖

Nothing on Fearnley winning at Nottingham? First tournament back from injury in January, came through Qualifying to win 7 matches for his first Challenger title. Moves up 254 places to a career high of 274. Also gets his first top 100 win.

Fantastic achievement but with it being such a busy and big week on the ATP and WTA tour, we weren't able to cover challenger level as well!

Agree with the prospects of Draper. He definitely has all the tools to make the top 10 and potentially top 5, it's just a case of whether he can put them all together consistently to perform on all surfaces across the season. I think he should be aiming higher than De Minaur, he should be aiming for the World Tour Finals and Masters titles in his career. My only fear is that he may end up like Shapovalov, where it all looked like it was coming together before it all fell apart right on the cusp of the top 10. I am excited to see him face Alcaraz at Queens and finally have a seeded run at a Slam. A better draw will give him the chance to approach the top 20 after Wimbledon with the chance to be seeded at Masters in the latter half of the season which he really needs.

Rublev plays like a scary guy the way he gets angry the hard way he strikes the ball. But he's like the kindest guy I believe he's only mean to his knees when he's beating it with a racquet. Much respect hope he stays a top ten player for many years and he usually does beat who he should so he can stay there as long as he doesn't get injured like Berrittini and fall into the 90s. It's insane how Zverev got Injured for 7 months and got back to the top 4. That's not only really hard but almost impossible without winning a slam. The question is can Rublev slide into the top 5 with Ruud Rune and Fritz on tour?

‏re: players who won their first three Grand Slam finals - it is worth mentioning that on Saturday afternoon Iga Swiatek has won her 5th Grand Slam title - in her 5th Grand Slam final (she is the first player to win 5/5 GS finals since the great Roger Federer, who got to 7/7 before losing to Rafa at the French Open in 2006) Also, a shout-out to her rival in the match of the tournament - and comeback player of the year candidate - Naomi Osaka, who has won her first 4 Grand Slam finals... more to come soon?

Not to forget that Rybakina choked to Paolini, so for sure Ryba vs. Iga would been more a popcorner match! These are things out of Iga’s hands, literally, how other players perform.

Re: on players winning their first 3 grand slam finals, it’s easy to forget that Federer won his first 7 from 2003 to 2006 until losing the 2006 French against Rafa. Also his compatriot Stan Wawrinka won all 3 of his finals as well. Some nostalgic Swiss excellence there ~~

It's a big business and that business depends on people wanting to watch

  • @broncoguy4862

Tennis is about generating revenue like any business. If the fans aren't entertained, they won't watch. No fans = no advertisers = no revenue. Tennis, especially on the women's side, went through a period of self-reflection in the 90's in an effort to boost the fan experience...that's why Wimbledon now has on-court interviews, and tournaments add little moments like the winner of a match autographing balls before hitting them to the fans. It's often said that interest in the Williams sisters saved tennis for the US market.
