    Sorry, don’t want to sound rude but feeding a preamp with another preamp is pointless. Unfortunately you can’t bypass Apollo Twin’s pre with the line input, so you are spending money for some gear without having the sound you are actually paying for. The twin has its unison technology that works great: try and make a comparison with the same chain you are using now (your pre and the WA2A vs. the Avalon and LA2A plugin you have with the audio interface) and try to hear the difference. If you want to use your gear, which make’s totally sense, you could try using another audio interface with inserts or real preamp-less line inputs. Try the audient ID 24 or 44, they have the chance to bypass the preamp section 👍 hope it helps

    Thanks for the feedback! I looked into everything with connections and even spoke with people at Sweetwater and UA team Members. You are correct but there is a way. I have a 18i20, An MAudio, I have used the Audient 44 which is an awesome interface. You can not bypass using XLR to mic from preamp. The only way that we overcame this. Is you need to use a TRS into the line input in the back of the Apollo. No phantom power needed from the Apollo. No Gain needed on the Apollo either. There’s been debates left and right on this but this is the way that “works” I wish I can make it make more sense but it’s all trial and error haha

    Ssl2 sounds clean man! But you should have 2 inputs. Connect the 1/4in into input 1. It should work without activating line button or 48v. Should be just a plug and make sure within your DAW you choose the correct track to record

    I have a la 610 mk 2 channel strip modded with NOS tubes and the la 610 at 0 gain already adds in 4 db.. plus you're still getting 10 db of gain going thru line input on the Apollo twin x... its not an actual tru bypass which only the Apollo x6 and x8 have.. you're getting the ua preamp gain still if you're not using the -15 db pad on your hardware.. I would highly suggest that and then really get your preamp going I've owned a twinfinity and it sounds great on transient aka solid state.. but there using stock jj tubes 20 dollar tubes in there lol.. nothing like audiophile tubes

But I bet you’re set up sounds great! You have any songs demonstrating the sound?

  • @ururozu
    @ururozu3 ай бұрын

    Great question! I love using the UAD 710 since I have full control of all settings while recording and I can manipulate sound. It has a great mix knob that has “transient and tube” I love it just for that feature. Transient is more modern sound in my opinion and tube is of course just that warm sound you hear in some rnb or indie music. Or you can mix it to be more or the other. It really has anything you want to do with recording. It’s also nice to have it so you’re not running a lot of CPU power with plugins. But plugins they are cheaper and great emulation in these plugins that sound great! If you have the money then get outboard gear but if you don’t want to spend then splurge on some plugins! Both are great and have pros and cons
