    So what happens when there is only one gigantic black hole left in the entire universe and no more mass to consume? Another big bang and it all restarts again?

  • @EpicSpaceman
    @EpicSpacemanКүн бұрын

    Currently it’s believed the Universe is expansion so fast that everything will end up isolated so perhaps eventually there will just be black holes with an empty observable universe around them, and black holes very slowly lose mass so in the distant future there will just be blackness and nothing happening. Which is…nice!

    What an absolute legend!! Amazing work indeed. It's nice to see the effort you put into your work, as they say, "A job is not a job if you love what you do," and this comes across with how you craft the story of your videos. It's nice to see a different way of understanding the true beauty and distances of the solar system, Galaxy, and the nebula in your videos. Your love of photography is noticeable with your eye for detail and rule of 3rd and stuff like that. I watch a lot of space and science stuff on astronomy, but I have to say they way you bring your audience on the journey with you is amazing. And it's not just "here's some pictures while I confuse you with numbers " looking forward to seeing your future projects and videos. ❤❤

    quick question, did you program the blackhole raycasting yourself or use an existing program to do it? If you made it yourself, did you use actual general relativity to move the rays? Because the one I tried making uses newtonian physics because relativistic is too hard😅

  • @EpicSpaceman
    @EpicSpacemanКүн бұрын

    Mine was an artists impression really, I bent the rays with a glass material that I adjusted the IOR and shape for and made it track the camera, I settled on a shape kind of between a doughnut and a flying sauce, it’s not super accurate but I found it similar to proper simulations that bent the light in similar ways

    the biggest black holes are Phoenix A* and (some protest it's S5 0014+81 which according to some is 140 billion solar masses and Phoenix A* has 100 billion solar masses)

  • @EpicSpaceman
    @EpicSpaceman3 күн бұрын

    Phoenix A* hasn’t been reliably measured and was recently measured to be much smaller (though again not reliably), generally the one in TON618 is still considered the largest directly measured one, I’m sure it will be overtaken at some point

  • @Guinea54
    @Guinea543 күн бұрын

    I'm not sure if this scale is that accurate..according to this scale the milky way would be around 214333 light years across.. that's at least double the size it actually is.. I used the 1cm from the sun to neptune to calculate it. Light takes about 250 minutes to reach neptune..so each 1cm =250 minutes..usa is about 2800 miles across...it's still amazing....just not sure about the sizes matching up perfectly

  • @EpicSpaceman
    @EpicSpaceman3 күн бұрын

    When I started the video the MW was considered to be 185KLY +- 15KLY in diameter, it’s more recently been revised back down, basically significant numbers of stars have been found out as far as 100KLY from the centre but it’s all about which model is used and how we define the edge. As that seemed to change a bit towards the end of me making it I made sure to put the galaxy well within the border of the US in the images I used. It’s pretty fuzzy really and I wouldn’t be surprised if it increases in size again in the future as we find more stars further out. It also depends on how big your finger is!

  • @Guinea54
    @Guinea542 күн бұрын

    @@EpicSpaceman That's a good point. I always just thought it was roughly 100k light years across.. Your videos are absolutely amazing. My only complaint is I wish there were more. Plus your relaxing tone of voice is enjoyable to watch. This blew my mind.. I would have never imagined the Sun was anywhere near as small as a blood cell. I was thinking more of a basketball.. It blew my mind so much I almost didn't want to believe it.

    While the rendering of the content is impressive and I love to see such high quality work put out, I have a couple constructive criticisms which hopefully can be implemented in the future: 1. You should try implementing smoothing on the motion of the character. The spaceman kinda does that weird animation thing where his motions feel rigid because they're not smoothed out. Using a sigmoid curve or some other curve would vastly improve the quality of the animation, which at this time seems somewhat amature and compensated for by the high quality rendering (which can be achieved with raw production budget, giving the sense that the content is somewhat manufactured as product instead of being made out of love) 2. The sharp edge at the end of the sphere of warped light around the black hole looks very unrealistic. Light behaves normally outside the sphere, and suddenly begins warping at the edge of the sphere. There should be some way to use distance from a point to warp light instead of whatever rendering technique you were using to create the warp. The current method looks okay at the small scales, but looks like a strange version of glass at larger scales. 3. The rendering for the edge of the black hole is still incorrect, since it only has a couple copies of the wrapped light. In theory, there should be increasing frequency at which the light is bent around the core as you approach the black hole. That is, the first loop of wrapped light is the furthest away from the others, the second is closer to the third than the first, the third is closer to the fourth than the third, etc., as if a geometric or harmonic series.
