    You definitely can water a lot at one time. My set is for twice a day when it’s hot.

    How long can a fern last in a small pot like the ones you get when you purchase them? Most plants become root bound and have to be repotted but ferns are often sing in smaller pots. Should they be put in larger pots at any time?

  • @ButchFagan
    @ButchFagan3 ай бұрын

    I think that would depend on the individual plant. If the fern seems to be doing ok and looks healthy I see no reason to transplant it.

    Hiw do you mount the hook/ find an anchor point in ceiling? Do furns like full sun?

  • @ButchFagan
    @ButchFagan3 ай бұрын

    In my situation I could attach to solid wood. Every situation is different. Ferns mostly like shaded areas but mine do get plenty of sun on the porch. I have to make sure that they get plenty of water when the weather gets hotter.

  • @raczyk

    @@ButchFaganwould you say the ferns get full sun?

  • @ButchFagan

    @@raczyk mine are on a porch so they not in full sun put they do get a lot of afternoon sun. That’s why I have to make sure I give them plenty of water.

    Americans actually seem to like the sloppy messy looking brickwork and even call it “ the farmhouse look “ or even the “ grunge look “ ( hilarious) I personally Do NOT but if someone actually wanted to Pay Me to Slop Up their brickwork I would probably try to just use White Portland and mason sand ( the white masons sand) and splash it up that way Why use Grout? Way more expensive and not really compatible with brick like mortar is. I need to find out what German Shmearing actually is first though probably a specific mix?

    Did you add the screws from the top into the studs that were mentioned in your pre-planning?

  • @ButchFagan
    @ButchFagan8 ай бұрын

    I did not. The beam was so hard to get up against the wall I didn’t need to. If I had of drilled the holes a little larger, which I would do if I did it again I would install the screws into the studs.

    Great video! Thank you. You mentioned you wanted the beam to look as natural as possible. Why not leave without finish after it was sanded? Just curious. Thanks again.

  • @ButchFagan
    @ButchFagan9 ай бұрын

    Thanks for the compliment! I didn’t think I would be happy with the mantle without a finish on it. Even though it was sanded I feel it would have rough spots and eventually splinters. Moving decorations around wouldn’t be as easy. I really like the mat finish I used.

    First off you did a great job. I am currently working on two beams myself. Here is what my take would have been. I would have secured the template material to the wall first, then drilled the studs for the bolts holes. Doing so allows perfect alignment. You were correct in suggesting to drill the holes in the beam oversized. This would have allowed the use of either a little epoxy or construction adhesive in the beam holes, securing the beam to the bolts.

  • @ButchFagan
    @ButchFagan11 ай бұрын

    If the holes in the beam were larger and I thought it might pull off my plan was to angle some screws through the beam into the framing. Thanks for watching!

    I had a fern business. Frond Ideas. The fern is an ever dieing plant. If you take the old fern, cut it all the way back, (divide it if you want) keep watering it through the winter, you will save some money. You can also cut the root ball back to half and put it in fresh soil. It will grow to what you want quickly. I love ferns. Those are beautiful. I like your irrigation, it seems to work very well in some cases. 🎉❤
