How does this work when you need 20000-50000 officers after being gutted for 10 years ?
All my questions are relevant for recruitment to the Metropolitan police service: 1. Does the police apprenticeship of three years cover the probation period or will that have to be taken aswell to then contribute to a total of 5 years (3 year degree course + 2 year probation period) to becoming an official police officer. 2. What is the structure of the entry route, do you have to go through selection process and interviews prior to degree or do you enroll on the degree first and then seek employment 3. Do you need a ckp level 3 or can you use a level 3 public service college qualification aswell as a level 4 hnc in policing. If i have these qualifications, must i still enroll the ckp?
The first thing I notice are no ties. This looks scruffy. Also I heard someone mention recently that 18% of Police are obese.
Linking into the issues raised by a previous participant who talked about ex-military personnel, etc. and the skills they could bring, Rachel suggested that Chief Constables had some discretion about appointing people as officers who could bring in other life life experiences rather than any academic achievements and I think that could be a little misleading. As from January 2020 there are only three entry routes as a constable as defined by Police Regulations, two of which require graduate level qualification and the Police Constable Degree Apprenticeship and there is no discretion in that.
