I bought my DX7-IIFD way back in 1987 when it was first released along with the Tone Module TG-55. This is essentially the DX7 gubbins without the keyboard! Happily, I still have both, although I've hardly played them for years. The little battery in the DX7 has expired, so the thing won't boot up. I'll have to replace it; I do hope it isn't a big job. I'm glad to see the Old Queen still has some life in her and is being rediscovered by a new generation. It really was an amazing machine for it's time and was played on many of the 80s hits by those long faded Pop-Band combos!

According to measurements from Innerclock Systems, the R8 has the worst MIDI jitter value of all hardware devices, groove boxes and drum computers ever on the market. The device is therefore useless as a MIDI slave in conjunction with a hardware sequencer or similar.

Listening to these on May 2024 is making me want to listen (again) to one of my Don Dorsey albums, *Beethoven or Bust.* I think Mr. Dorsey utilized the module version of this synthesizer (among others) in the making of that album.
I mostly used Logic Pro's built-in Chromaverb on every track, the stock chorus on FullTines, and the stock echo on Super Bass. I also have an Alesis Midiverb ii that would like to get running.
