Wildlife Photographer UK

Wildlife Photographer UK

Welcome to my wildlife adventures, follow me as I learn all about wildlife, as I get out with my camera to photograph the wild side of the UK

My plan is to get out at least once a week and create a video of my travels around the UK as I document my wildlife photography and adventures.

My name is Ashley Barnard and I am a full-time professional photographer based in Lancashire UK on the Fylde coast.

I have been a professional photographer for around 15 years, and have recently started with wildlife photography, here on my KZread channel you can follow me as I dive into this minefield of wild birds and animals learning their names, identifying them, and learning the calls of the wild.

So please feel free to like and subscribe and follow me on my journey into the world of wildlife photography.

Your photo at 9:52 is absolutely stunning. The crisp sharpress of the image and capturing both the bird and the water looks incredible

Is sparrow hawk eating the other birds that come to the hide?

  • @coldclimber

Hi, many thanks for your comment. No, it would appear not, although I'm sure it is not through the lack of trying but it doesn't seem to. The birds are aware that the sparrowhawks are around and are on high alert.

So many backyard birds ! And I love that the sun rises at 4:30 am… here in Northern California on our longest day, the sunrise is 5: 38 am. You are so much farther north than we are.

I've been doing the same over these past few hot days - just sitting on the patio under an umbrella, with a mug of coffee, and my 70-300 and 150-600! We have had a good variety, for here, but only in ones and twos, really. No starlings at all though. Gosh those pointy bills look lethal for the juveniles! Enjoyed this video very much. Thanks for sharing.

Hi Ashley, continuing to watch and enjoy your fantastic films and photography on wildlife. Every time I watch I just have to say out loud “just beautiful “ The bird towards the end is a robin, just a very scruffy one which I have noticed with blue tits as well when they are busy feeding their young. They just don’t have time to preen themselves because they just don’t have the time 😅therefore end up looking particularly scruffy. I’m not sure if they are probably getting a new set of feathers as well towards the end of summer ready for the cooler days to come? Thanks for the enjoyment you give me watching your films anyway 😊👍🏻

I'm confused by the shutter speed and the power of the flash. I understand that the low flash power of 1/256 has the fastest ability to stop action. So for example if I set my ISO on my camera to 400 ISO. I opened my aperture to 6.3 on my zoom lens. And I set my shutter speed to 250th of a second and the power of the flash at half. Will the flash power freeze a hummingbird? Or should I set my ISO at 400 and my shutter speed at 2000 and then set my flash at one quarter or half power. I'm confused by the difference between the flash power and the shutter speed I'm not sure which one needs to freeze the hummingbird. Is it the flash that freezes the hummingbird or the shutter speed or both?

Fantastic Ashley, what a cracking day to be out along the cliffs! Beautiful array of wild flowers and nature all around! Also some beautiful pictures of the seabirds, Gannets never fail to amaze me, such striking feather detail and the eyes are beautiful. This is probably one of my favourites of yours so well done mate. Shooting down is never the ideal but you've done well to capture the beauty of the birds doing their thing. It seems Bempton is one Hot Spot for Naturalists, Photographers and Vloggers, but I think your video and enthusiasm has added to the one of the best ones. Well done buddy. Rich
