Hey! It's me Secretlifeofabionerd outside of Secretlifeofabionerd. I escaped that channel a bit to be a normal human being. Refreshing right?

KL WHERE ARE YOU?! I MISS YOU
Great explaination
I tried this recipe but the nem chua is not that sour, did I do something wrong?
You cook the pork skin but not the beef? Make sense 🤔😐
After being a YT veteran of 16ish years, I love returning to my old Favorites playlist and finding these gems. I haven't made this recipe in so long, but I still remember the intro to every Cooking with Mom video 🥲 I can't believe this was uploaded 10 years ago!!
Haven’t had beef nam before always the pork from the store. But I can’t wait to try it with beef. It would make more sense right since we eat more medium rare, raw beef instead of pork. Good stuff
Didn’t mention the baking time and temperature
Hi, I just wanted to confirm one of the recipe ingredients. At the beginning of the video it's showing all the ingredients with one pink coloured package and reads 'Alsa Baking Powder'. However, throughout the video you were referring to Baking Soda. So I just wanted to confirm, which should be used?
shouldn't the pork be raw when putting into roll??
FYI, you should ground your own beef and not buy them already grounded. Grounded beef from store comes from separate cuts having more chances to get bacteria.
Pretty sure its supposed to be pork
@ 5:46 is what is in the meat. 😂 jk
I miss this series! <3
Other than the half cup of sugar, (which seems excessive) this looks pretty good. The only other thing I wonder about is the fact cabbage and onion hold so much water. Doesn't it make for a 'soggy' roll? BTW? Those are 'spring roll' wrappers....not egg roll. (there is a difference)
Real Vietnamese egg roll (Chả giò) is wrapped with the thin transparent / cellophane / rice paper wrapper and *not* the Chinese spring roll / Chinese egg roll wrapper. Vietnamese rice paper (Bánh Tráng) doesn't soak up a ton of oil like the Chinese wrapper does; therefore, it makes real Vietnamese egg roll (Chả giò) taste so much lighter and crispier than the heavily oily Chinese roll. Vietnamese transparent rice paper can be purchased in Vietnamese-American grocery stores in North America. Chinese roll wrapper is way too coarse, is way too thick compared to Vietnamese rice paper (Bánh Tráng), and will soak up a ton of oil. It is suitable for Chinese food which is much heavier and much more oily when compared to Vietnamese food. Chinese wrapper isn't suitable for Viet rolls.
These are the best!
One of my absolute favorites. I usually buy in little cups from the Asian market. Im ready to try making this myself. 😊
You have such a cute voice.
Hello, Is that your Dad playing with the dog? I think I know him.. Thanks
Does the beef tasted almost the same with making with pork? Texture wise? I was told you're supposed to make with pork the classic way.
Hi I hope you still make videos like this 🥹
Hi. I'd like to try this. Can i skip the pork skin? Will it affect the result if i don't put pork skin? Cause I don't know where to get it 😒
awesome wil try this recipe
Had zero idea that it was beef that I’ve eaten from those Vietnamese delis:) so so so good! Thank you for this video (even 8 years later!)
What would be the optimal substitute for the thin slices of pork skin, bean threads or something?
Yummy 🤤 and I love your beautiful Pomeranian too!🥰
Making Nem Chua with no gloves , bare hands ? No thanks .
I tried looking for your channel! Because I remember getting hooked. Then I stopped. Now I found it again but ur not uploading anymore??? I think the last time I saw a blog. You were having a baby. 😁 Anyway I hope you get back to me on whether ur still on social media. 💓
Why is it that your “grilled pork” isn’t grilled but is pan fried and steamed?😆
So cute how she narrated for mom!
Thank you for your recipe, turn out great! Simple and easy.
Thx mom!
I found some nam powder in a market, didn't know what it was, so I bought it in the hopes I'd find out what to do with it. Thanks, KL, I'm gonna try y'all's recipe.
"If you don't like onions, you can surely leave it out." I use shallots instead - the ones that still look like small brown or regular onions. A much more subtle, mellow/mild onion flavour. They are also easier on tummies that are sensitive to strong foods. Glad I found this channel... 7 years late.
I'm eating some Nam rn
