    Nice swell! Looks like all the main brands are doing constant foil upgrades to these higher performance levels. I’m fine with the technology moving forward since we all can decide if/when to upgrade. I’m pretty sure I’ll upgrade to the new system. I’ll do the new mast (14mm) first and sell my current HM85. The new aluminum fuselages are all pretty cheap so I can do adapters to my current V2 Veloce’s and V2 stabs. I’ll wait and see how the V3 foils play out and most likely upgrade there as well. If I was on a tighter budget I’d have no issue sticking with my current foil rig. I haven’t switched to a skinny mid length board yet either.

  • @christomo
    @christomoКүн бұрын

    @targadave yes the new foils and connection look good I keep pricing a new xl veloce and fuse stab really can't afford it tho haha I also need a 3.5m wing for this winter love a dw board the list is long , and no mid-length here just can't find funds . I've always found a front wing to make the most difference on a set up , so I'm interested why you are going to change mast first and not v2 mast adapter to v3 front and v2 back to use existing stabs or v2 mast v3 front and v3 back . Ty mate

    @@christomo I’m not really sure which V3 front wing I want to upgrade to. Want to see more reviews first. I was also thinking that they were going to be introducing some more V3 front wings as well. Figured I’d just start with the mast first. I’m a firm believer in ultra stiff low drag HM masts. Also here in the US we pay a duty fee for purchases over $800 usd (at least I think it’s $800). So cheaper not to buy everything at once. Either way I’m not in a rush. My current setup works great, and it’s not like this new gear is going to suddenly make us older blokes ride 10x better🤣

Yes, the dw foils look great. I was leaning towards a veloce h v2 myself before these came out. Hope they do a plane stab front and fuse package deal. It might take the sting out of buying almost a new system . Again, thanks for watching and kind comments. Have a great week .

    Hi Chris. I compared the Veloce XLH V2 and V3 frontwings. The dimensions are about the same. Gong says you can go 200cm2 lower for the same lift with V3 compared to V2. But Gong also says: an XL is an XL. From V1 to V2 indeed the area was made less for an XL, but from V2 to V3 I still see 1150cm2. Of course the shape of the Veloce is new and more in line with competitors, but I am not convinced of major improvements. About the fuse: it would give 12% more glide...... I think they mean that that the rounded shape has 12% less resistance than the square one. I believe that but how much is that in the total resistance of the complete foil? Almost nothing. I will hang on to V2 for the coming year :-)

  • @christomo
    @christomo3 күн бұрын

    @watercrazylion yes I feel the same as you and happy with what I have, but I will probably get something next year as funds allow, I agree with your statement of less resistance in fuse its all good marketing I'm sure the pros can feel the difference but not sure i would 👍over next few years we will slowly move over no doubt,an ever changing sport . Loved reading your opinion 👌 good winds speak soon. I'm sure the general rule would still be a large is a large and a small is a small and some of the models wings have dropped in area some have thicker profiles and reduced spans but I'm pretty sure the model would be same , otherwise it would be to confusing the statement can take a foil smaller would probably be in reference to some models smaller large v2 vs v3 at a guess marketing blurb that's confusing. However im just guessing and not 100%

    I think the reason people will still need to buy v2 foils, is all the beginner & advanced foils are still v2 right? ( X-over, curve, veloce, fluid). But if buying a carbon mast they might want to just straight to v3 mast.

  • @christomo
    @christomo4 күн бұрын

    @timtravelnomad yes your totaly spot on there . Personally, I think the intermediate and beginner foils will follow soon and be the same fittings, but the v2 stuff is very good and won world titals, and there are some good deals to be had Thanks for watching and commenting.

    Oh gosh. A new system. It's good and bad I guess. I don't think there is a titanium fuselage that allows you to use v2 mast with v3 foil. Only alu. But in an IG story from Patrice it appears that you can sand the bottom of your v2 mast to make it a v3 mast (and thus fit it in the new v3 titanium fuselage). He said only 2 min of sanding!? The shapes must be very similar.

  • @christomo
    @christomo4 күн бұрын

    Yes sanding will round it off so it fits i also saw his post , however i did see a titanium fuselage in the v2 mast option only for the v3 stab and v3 front wings i double checked . that would be the one i would go for i think . thanks for watching and commenting . good winds buddy

    nice bud! interesting they are making all those different fuse options! and I didn't know alum masts have a tendency to break... makes a lot more sense as we are putting bigger loads on them than when we kite foiled. I wonder how the flex on ti is compared to alum.

  • @christomo
    @christomo5 күн бұрын

    @OCEANBOUND1 the part that breaks it the fuselage seen it on a few brands as the metal fatigues the titanium fuselage will not break it is so stiff it would not bend . But titanium is heavy buy ok in a small section as in the fuse also it is hollow to reduce weight . All the fse options are to make it compatable with all the older masts front wings and rear foils however who would buy a new version mast and put old wings on it i just dont see it but each to there own .Thanks for watching bud 👍 have a awesome weekend

    I was thinking about buying a new front wing, with HM mast , titanium fuselage. And i would like your opinion if you don't mind. I am the same weight as you and my regular spot is around 12-14 knots most of the time. I have the X-over XXL (2050cm2) and i contacted sales of gong they told me next reasonable step would be Curve H. Right now i am working on my jibes and i have been successful 1-2 times / session i guess. What do you think about the Curve H? Also which size do you recommend? I was thinking about 1300 or 1600 , while the X-Over i will try to sell it soon enough so it will not be included in my quiver. Even if i should wait for the new fuselage + wings i would like your input here. Thank you in advance.

  • @christomo
    @christomo6 күн бұрын

    @izno-r2y hope you are well. Thanks for watching. I can be riding on the curve h xxl from 12 to 20kn and curve h xl from 15kn to 25kn. I use both with a large size freestyle stab to shorten fuse and liven them up , with a 86 cm mast and titanium fuse . For lower winds, I would be tempted to say xxl curve h. I would maybe say to wait to see what new wings are like, I am guessing next few weeks for release 😀. I'm my opinion. The xxl xover won't be holding you back from doing jibes and perseverance learning another 5 sessions to dial them in won't hurt . Try a second-hand kite stab or a small fluid stab to liven the xover up while you wait to decide on the new wing update . However, the curve h in xl is my favourite foil so far in a good wind. Low stall speed gets up early and glides well . Hope this helps some .

  • @christomo
    @christomo6 күн бұрын

    Just a note I had the xover v1 xxl and when I bought the curve h xl I never used the xover again It was 1 session to get used to the curve h as you have to generate a little more forward speed to fly Hope it helps

  • @izno-r2y
    @izno-r2y6 күн бұрын

    @@christomo Yeah i don't mind using the X-over a little more. I am just a little eager for the next step :) Based on your wind ranges i guess Curve H XXL would be more appropriate for my spot. I will wait the next few weeks and if nothing happens i think im going for the Curve H XXL. Appreciate your help, thank you very much !

    @christomo6 күн бұрын

    @izno-r2y anytime a pleasure, I learned my gybes and footswaps on the xover, and I found a small stab made it more manoeuvrable worth a thought they pop up for 30 ,40 euros while you wait . Goods winds .

    I will comment here so I would remind you of our conversation. You were right about the new system in the end. Right now though, they kinda changed the surface area and as they said "On average you can go for 200 cm2 less surface area than with the previous generation for equal lift." So in regards of the previous XXL curve h which was 1600cm2 now we have again the XXL with 1370+200? So I should stick in your opinion with 2xl or shall I move with 3xl? I will also ask the contract support, but I would like also your opinion here. Great video once again and thank you for your time.

I'm 95kg to 100kg with my wet kit on, and I dropped to a 95l lemon and love it, but all I want to do is flag out on wind swell .I think i would be ok on a 75l but our winds drop off with no warnings and having a body weight board is good to get back to shore in yhese conditions if you are intermediate as in your getting 90% gybes and starting tacks maybe 100 sessions in ,and you may want to go for a 95litres board or a 105 litre if you get a lot of lighter winds. Model would depend on what you want to do rides swell or bigger waves or jump go mint for pure all round and easy lemon is still easy but more wave focused . 120L is still a big board for your 95kg, and a 105 will be easy after a dozen sessions. tacks are frustration! I've attempted thousands at this point, I'm solid at toeside in one direction, heelside on the other. but I still have work on the opposite. always stuff to work on. but nothing better than tacking onto a wave! and thanks Mark :) wishing all the crew an awesome rest of your week out there!

    I only do heelside regular stance and toeside on the other side won't be learning swich to tricky for little gain. All about the waves my man .

    With my sk8 950 my tack rate is like 20% 😂 annoying it’s like im starting again, 1400cm2 foil with a ratio of 7 help a lot and i think being a bit overpowered on a 5m help too everything factor count when you are learning.

    Exactly! Grind away and polish those (core) skillz. Sacrafice a couple of sessions and be prepared to be frustrated. It eases the pain. :-)

  • @christomo

    @youdigsurf tweaked the shape and draft, and the trailing edge seems stiffer. There are new handles. They are more stiff. I'm so impressed I've bought another.
