I live in the flower region where in the spring time all the tulips and other flowers grow in large fields. In that period there are maybe a million tourists coming to see the fields and “de Keukenhof” and lots of those tourists doing a bike tour. It is a hell driving there every day and trying to avoid most likely a Group of asian people hitting them. Tourists can simply not cycle so they cycle like very drunk people. You can for sure imagine how that is like. Crazy

A good show in the Netherlands and also in Belgian I commend you is a Netflix serie called “Undercover” It’s a Belgian/Dutch detective serie about Ferry Bouwman who is a national XTC drug “lord” who will be infiltrated by a Dutch and a Belgian police undercover detective. For “Dutch” understandings it is a big and exspensive show. Defenenitaly (spellend that wrong, I know) not Hollywood but it is in my opinion a really good serie.

When going to a restaurant, we split the bill. On a birthday, we sit in a birthday circle with snacks in the middle on a table. We must take driving lessons from a driving school, so not from family members.

I live in the Netherlands for 2 years and have to live here for other few years. I've been listening form my family day after day about how bad weather is and how they hate this weather while i myself like rain so it doesn't bother me at at all. But, despite liking rain i cannot say that Netherlands have good weather. I like having all 4 seasons and Dutch have short summer and practically no winter. No winter is especially disappointing, i miss -20 celsius and a lot of snow on the roads. Poland had quite good weather but i lived in Warsaw and when winter hit, those motherf*ckers clean everything overnight so i saw snow only somewhere on the side of a street. I didn't see normal snow for almost 10 years now. It's so bad for me that I made a new goal to visit Aomori prefecture of Japan in 5 years. I heard they have a lot of snow.

The air alarm is VERY loud, you can hear it all over the country, at the same time all mobile phones sound an alarm, aswel as tablets...LOUD ! Drives me crazy, but i think this is the last year they do it.

The air alarm is i think in June 2024 not anymore, instead they have Amber alert taken over. So no alarm anymore. Me personally, i find it not a good decision, they only have to disable the masts of the providers. Not wise.

We hang the flag up on ceveral occasions. When someone important dies we hang the flag as we call "half stok" or halfway on the pole. This is a sign of respect and grief. For the national day that we officially got freed from the german forced during world war 2 we have a grieving and we hang our flags out. This is called "bevrijdingsdag" or freedomday. Also for football we hang out the flag and for kingsdag we hang it out with a orange flatter flag for the kings national colours. And also for the graduation for kids with their bag. Thats all i know

Nowadays most payments are done by debit card (either physical card or via a phone app), credit cards are not common and in most instance where credit cards are accepted, Credit card surcharges will be added to offset the cost of payment processing fees from these credits card companies, so making your purchases via credit cards more expensive than via cash or debit card.

I’m a F1 fan since 1988 and a F1 weekend really makes my… weekend. There’s one thing I always find a bit crazy about F1. F1 is not an individual sport. It’s a teamsport. So world championships for drivers is very strange. A driver is nothing without the team, without the men and women in the factory. Other way around the team is nothing without the driver, but still… it is not an individual sport. It’s all about the constructor’s championship. But somehow that’s not as sexy as the driver’s championship. Never understood that :)

Second bridge is Brug Elsloo. It is about 60 years old and it replaced a bridge from the 1930's what has been blown up during WW2. It is typical steel girder bridge and is recently been renovated (it has been painted green during renovation, previous the color was dark purple/red)

Answering the phone with your name is common if you recognise the number. Otherwise I also stick to " hello". Credit cards are indeed not used a lot here. Mostly debit cards. Credit cards work in most restaurants in Amsterdam. Indeed in the "province" it might be less. But people will use debit cards a lot. We indeed do not like to be in debt. Something to do with the Calvinistic culture here. And sensible I think. I am surprised he did not mention our " appointment" culture. Usually you must schedule a meeting with friends or anyone basically several weeks ahead. The Dutch, in general, do not like surprise visits. We like to allocate time to our friends and for our hobbies. About the entertainment industry, it is not as smaal as he makes you believe, but of course it is much smaller then in the US. 380 million versus 18 million, logical I would say.

Flagpoles are pretty common and the flag usually on gets waved on special days like: Kingsday, or any birthday of a royal, 5th of may (liberation day) that kinda stuff. We also put the flag halfway down the flagpole on the 4th of may to commemorate the people killed in the second world war and other wars through the years. The bags on the flagpole is just to show someone has graduated. The alarm is basically just a monthly test to make sure wherever you live, you can hear the alarms go off when there is an actual emergency. In my neighborhood we have around 5 or 6 points, so you can hear it from every direction.

In the sixties of last century I was a child and lived right next to a school with such an alarm on it. They were louder back then, I think they were air pump driven. Once it did not want to stop. You would think, call the headmaster of the school and he will switch it off. Nope. It was a completely seperate system, and ONLY a civil servant of the ministry of the interior was allowed to touch those things. We had a very noisy monday that day. It took four hours before that thing finally was shut down.

When you rent a home or apartment you get it bare. So without a floor (carpet), without curtains or any other window dressing, without wallpaper. When leave you have to deliver the home bare too. The alarm poles are so situatued that every resident can hear it go off. The creditcard system as pay system is very different from the debit card and companies have to pay extra for the creditcard system, next to the debit card system. So when you are a small business you think twice about ordering the creditcard system, because both systems ain't cheap certainly when there is not that big of a credit card culture in The Netherlands and throughout Europe.

#1.. bags on flag poles is tradition for greduates, we olso hang the flag half-way on the pole if something bad happend to our king or queen etc. or when a family member has passed away.. ( dutchies, correct me if i,m wrong ) #2... i,m not exacgtly sure, but the landlords/Housing corporations normally want you to clear your entire house all levels and floors and rooms when you move, this olso means the wall papers or anything like that, so even the floors. And yea those things are exspensive.!! ( Dutchies just need to redecorate for some reason.? ) #3... it's just a very nice system, the guy has explained it very nicely. ( i can't say less ) #4... hahah yeah, let's not talk about insurance... it's important hahaha..!!! ( dutchies are wierd.? ) #5... the last foto of the big guy ( actor called Frank Lammers ) is at this moment a HUGE deal on dutch TV series and movies.! ( everyone should know him by now ) *Carice Van Houten is actually Dutch and plays The RED WITCH from Game of Thrones...!* my favourite Dutch crime shows lately are.. ( Flikken Maastricht ) or ( Flikken Rotterdam ) which plays in my city, we olso got Mocro maffia or ( Ferry, The Series ) or ( De Kroongetuigen ) but if you want to go back way in time ( Baantjer ) that's what my dad always watched. #6... yo what's up it's Rico here.! i do love you though XD #7... traffic is getting worse in The Netherlands -.- but he is right, it's normally pretty organized, and safe... #8... Borrelen " normally we just do this when we boored or havent seen eachother for a while or even on special occations. but it can olso be done with cheese and sausages even fish or any wierd snacks that we've, but you got to watch out eating dutch snacks.! they delicious ASF but loads of snacks are straight from the frying pan, so they are Hot as hell.. you should really try out the ( bitterballen and frikandel etc. ) but make sure to not just stick it in your mouth right away it'll burn your tounge hahahaha.. in The Netherlands we learn as a kid to always blow on your "hot foods" before eating them.. #9... credit cards is only for rich people who can affort to go to fancy places and pay for fancy stuff, no offence rich people.! nah it's not only a problem in The Netherlands, i feel like its in most western european countries aswel like Spain and Germany etc... it's wierd how times can change BTW because normally here people tend to just pay everything cash or with thier debit-card... credit cards olso don't get accepted at many bussinesses i think because of people getting into debt.. and then the company has to recover that debt.. all via Debt collection agencies, which can cost them even more money.??? and like the dude said, Dutch people dont like to pay upfront or pay for something they can't affort.. ( correct me if i'm wrong ) #10.... wait WTF... did i miss out on something.. i typed #10 @ #9..?? what number/ topic did i miss.???? anyways this was fun to analyse every topic, eventho appearently i missed one.??? and i just spoke from my own thinking and believings... ( people may have different opinions ) " but that's okey.! "

I have at the moment: - Home content insurance -Liabillity insurance - House glass insurance -Accident insurance - Bicycle insurance - Health insurance - Travel insurance - Legal aid insurance. And I don't own a house or a car (which have mandatory insurances). In the past I have had pet insurance as well. Health insurance is the most expensive, but in total I spend about €175 a month on insurances.

Actually one police series that ran for very long was situated in Maastricht in the very South, so it had the advantage of using Flemish and German actors too. On of the few Dutch crime series I enjoyed was 'The Spectacular" which was about IRA attacks in the Netherlands and Germany in the 90's, so it's quite international.

To awnser your question in the start of the video.

we have different kind of floor options so for example you buy a place that has a wooden floor (laminaat) and you want something more soft (tapijt) then you will have to swap out the floor also renters sometimes get to sell the floor to the next renter but allot of time you have to have left the house before the next person can come look and then you will need to remove the floor or pay to let the owners you rented from remove it that alarm can be heard EVERYWHERE in the netherlands and you normally hear at least 2 or 3 but there is talk in the government about stopping it a show that i can recommend is "de avondshow van arjan lubach" which is basically a satire commendy news like show
