I still haven't watched the video but I wanted to thank you for focusing on short stories. They are one of the most important formats in my country's literary history (I'm from Argentina) and they often get overlooked in other places. It's so refreshing to see them here, I live short stories so much ❤ Edit: after writing this comment I saw that the first story you read was by a fellow Argentinian, that's so cool ❤

Hi! I loved your takes on this topic. As someone who’s always wanted to create video essays I often wonder what editing softwares creators use. Or how they even acquire the media clips from films. I’m sure it is something you had to research thoroughly at the start of your channel. If you have any resources that you could extend I would appreciate it greatly. Nevertheless, you’ve found a viewer in me. I’m excited to hear more of your literary perspectives.

My takes (maybe controversial idk) More • Cosy fantasy • Gothic lit • Sprayed edges (but I only have 1 of each book) Sad to say goodbye That was great now let's move on • Tropification • Hating on Colleen Hoover Don't care • Hunger games Renaissance • Romantasy • Vampires • Hating on Colleen Hoover girlies (notlikeothergirls) Leave it in 2023 • Silent book reviews • Ice hockey romance • Simping over real ice hockey players • Colleen Hoover books I feel like when it comes to romance in fantasy, I enjoy it when it's the secondary plotline, rather than the main one, and I enjoy queer and sapphic fantasy quite a bit too. But not so much the books marketed as "romantasy". I did not get why people thought fourth wing was so good 😂 I love sprayed edges and special editions, but I go to buy one when I'm buying a book for the first time. The only time I've ever ended up with more than one of the same book, is if someone has gifted me a book I already had, and I usually donate the cover I like least. Cosy fantasies and cosy mysteries have been done of my faves last year and this year, and while I love a book with high stakes, I also adore the warm fuzzy feeling you get from these! Especially if there's talking animals, as a big middle grade reader, I will lap anything up with talking animals ☺️ And yeah, I don't really care and Hunger Games or vampires... Oops

idk if at this point you've already seen Past Lives but if not, please do! I was surprised at how I understood the ending. It was bittersweet but also I get why it had to be that way. It made me sympathize with both dudes and what's even better is they weren't mean to each other. The female lead also had her own agency which was amazing. Can't recommend it enough! Also, the director of Past Lives (Celine Song) is married to the writer of Challengers. Random trivia

You are so fortunate to have bookstores where you live. I live in a city with over 100,000 people and we have three used bookstores (two which are very small) and that's it.

okay actually i do really appreciate your thoughts on the premise of match, because you're right, it IS a really compelling concept that could be used to explore compatibility vs passion, how to balance trusting your own judgement and following someone else's advice, recognizing when that advice is being given for your benefit or to further someone else's agenda. unfortunately the books themselves didn't really do that (though it's been a hot minute since i read them, i *do* remember feeling extremely betrayed by how boring and idiot-plottish they turned out). anyway, you've made me want to read or write something that actually makes good on that premise, because you reminded me why i decided to try out those books in the first place!

a short story that I found really beautiful that was told in SUCH an interactive, beautiful way was "the boat" (2015) by nam le. it is technically more of a comic, but has musical and animated elements illustrated by matt huynh. takes only a few minutes to read (for free! if you search up the name and author it usually comes up, it's won a lot of awards) and really made me rethink stories and the ways they're told!

If anyone reads this pls rate my dystopian world based off an uber shortened version Okay so the U.S bombs Korea except it ends up pretty much causing the apocalypse which is this thing called the Corruption. Its slowly rotting the earth and killing people and spreading, and while it's slow at first this insane magician man speeds it up because he tried to tell the other magicians it was real and they could fix it and they laughed at him so he just straight up brought on the apocalypse (bro is unhinged). Anyways present day all of the nations that survived are chilling in America (colonization part two lmao) and right now they are trying to solve the apocalypse which is a little hard since most the magicians are dead as hell and nations keep scuffling instead of getting anything done (+10 realism)

My dad joked about another stitch after I, the third child, was born (he didn't mean it) and the doctor deadpan looked up at him and said 'if you don't get a vasectomy, I'll sew her shut' because my mom got SO SO sick during pregnancy and the doctor really liked my mom and didn't want to see her suffer anymore (they already knew I was their last kid)

I understand how you need to see a physical copy of a book, just so you do not forget you bought the book. You could however make post its or cards with the titles of the books you bought and keep them somewhere you can see them.

I got into reading again because of my new ereader! physical books are so impractical to me. i love reading but i rarely did because i hated carrying (even more) books with me and because i hate holding a book while lying down. To me it is super super important that the ereader has physical buttons, for the exact reasons that you mentioned: the touchscreen sucks. its not a bad thing necessarily, it is just the nature of current e-ink technology (that is also affordable). the only reason why companies stop implementing buttons is because buttons are more expensive to produce, making ereaders super impractical. *that* i have a problem with, because e-ink screens still suck! so i got the Pocketbook Verse pro version. it utilises both touch screen and physical buttons. i hate it when it turns the page when i accidentally tap the screen. other stuff: - accessibility features like dyslexia font, big letters, and text to speech - audiobooks - built in dictionary. literally just press and hold a word and it can look it up for you

I feel like for someone who has never read The Maze Runner it might seem like a really dumb book where the scientist are all just idiots but when you actually read it it makes a lot of sense and is actually really good. It’s also important to note that they already live in an apocalyptic world before this disease came out so they barely had anything left of humanity and were really desperate. (The purpose of the trials is to try and find a cure)
