    You fooled them by lying to them.. you had a split ring and a regular ring at the end. That was the only slight of hand..

    He had 2 rings!!! One regular ring and one half-ring or partial ring!!! 2:45-2:46 the camera angle flashed him palming the full ring LOL!!! Amazing sleight of hand!!! I still don't know how he did everything, but there was a regular ring and a partial ring that he was swapping in and out!!! Amazing sleight of hand!!! I still don't know how he did the full routine, but his execution was masterful!!!

    1 real ring 1 gimmick band 20 years of sleight of hand You can't tell me that the ring you used on teller's finger was real, #1 it physically impossible #2 you never once let go of it till you swapped but how swapped and hide the ring is crazy.

    Half ring trick. Swapping rings. Slight of hand with half a ring. Never shows full ring when moving it between fingers. Never lets go of ring when on tellers finger. Old trick kids used to do in my school in the 80's with a ring and a half of ring just like it.

    In my line of work, I am trained to tell if people are lying. When he said it's an absolutely normal ring, he was not being entirely honest. Plus, if you pause it at 3:08, you can see the space/opening in the ring.

    Penn literally says in the video: “if it’s anything other than a ring that comes apart, you have fooled us” The ring does not come apart. Even if he was lying (which I don’t see how, but supposedly you’re the expert here), he still deserves the trophy just as much as anybody else who’s fooled penn and teller. They’re only supposed to get one guess, that’s how the show works, and they used that on specifically a ring that comes apart, not just any general gimmick on a ring.

  • @Michael-jw6et
    @Michael-jw6et15 күн бұрын

    @@platinum1161 You are right, he says it doesn't come apart, which was true. It does not come apart, because there is opening in the ring. However, be also said it was a completely normal ring, which it isn't. Penn also said that if the ring was gimmicked in anyway, they would not give it to him. The ring was gimmicked. You can see the opening in it.

    @@Michael-jw6etthere’s a second ring. That’s where the sleight of hand comes into play. Penn was implying that if he did the trick with sleight of hand, which he did, then he fooled them. Penn isn’t trying to give away the trick, so he can’t be as direct with the guess as possible. There is a third party magician that knows exactly how the trick is done, and they verify if penn and teller are fooled, and it’s stated in the pinned comment that the judge confirmed that they had not figured out how it was done. Obviously penn knows the ring didn’t phase through tellers finger, but he doesn’t know the exact mechanics of the second slotted ring, so he’s fooled. Same goes for teller who literally had the second gimmicked ring on his finger but still failed to notice that there was a swap.

    “If it is anything other than a ring that comes apart, you have fooled us.” -Penn It doesn’t come apart. The trick seems to have been spoiled in various ways in the comment section over the past few years, so you can see for yourself if you wish, but it was done using a separate gimmick. In other words, it’s not just a single ring that comes apart, rather it’s a normal ring and then a little something extra that he uses slight of hand to swap in and out. He absolutely deserves that trophy. Maybe read the pinned comment before talking trash next time…

    This guy's a liar! Obviously you twist the ring in a certain way and it comes apart otherwise he wouldn't of been able to remove it from Teller's finger. It's a very well made gimmick ring. Good act but he 100% lied.

  • @platinum1161
    @platinum116115 күн бұрын

    Penn said that he fooled them if it was anything besides a ring that comes apart. There’s a gimmick involved here (obviously) but that’s not what it is. He’s not a liar and he didn’t 100% lie. I do agree that it’s a great act, but everything else you said is woefully misguided. This type of response is the reason for pinned comments, there’s already a ton of clarification in there including the fact that all the tricks are known by a third party judge, so nobody can lie and get away with it.

    "Well, if you rewind it, and zoom in, and be sure to play it back at 0.25x speed then you can clearly see...." Y'all are totally missing the point. You simply cannot do that in real life, real-time when the trick is being performed. KZread forensic analysis of magic tricks is hilarious. Do something else, people. You want to do this video slow down and check every detail, cool, but if you can't watch the performance one time and figure it out, then don't act like you're some sort of genius that figured something important out. This type of stuff is basically meant to be done once and leave you thinking about how it was done. You rewatching a video 100x and slowing it down over and over doesn't take anything away from this performance.

  • @tubey84
    @tubey84Ай бұрын

    He didn't lie. The ring he's holding at the end isn't the gimmick ring and that's what they asked him specifically about; he uses two rings, but he's not lying when he says his rings have no moving parts - the second ring is half a ring. So for example when it's on Teller's finger he's using half the ring on it, doesn't let go, conceals the other side is empty with his palm and slides it around to create the illusion it's full. He's telling the truth; it's pure sleight of hand, swapping between a real ring and a duplicate with a gap. Which is fine, as it's a trick, not literal magic; he achieved the illusion of making it look real.

  • @subaru4920
    @subaru4920Ай бұрын

    I don't think it comes apart. Based on how he was holding the ring whenever it was on a finger and how he always twists the ring when he is removing it my guess is he has two rings. One with a hole on the side and the other that is an ordinary ring. So it doesn't come apart, there is nothing mechanical, he is just swapping out a real ring and a fake one with slight of hand. So at 3:08 you are seeing a fake ring.

    There's trickery going on, but the ring itself doesn't open. Garrett sells the trick (which comes with a fully real ring) and the producers wouldn't allow him to take the trophy if he lied. You're very close to figuring it out though! One of the reasons this is a top 5 act for me is that even when you know the exact method, watching him do it is still magical. He's just that good.

    I am not a magician or never studied magic.. Just watched Penn and teller KZread episodes. So I am allowed to take a guess. When doing the trick or switching the ring from one finger to the other.. He's using half a ring. The last finger he gets to.. He puts back the original ring and conceals the half ring. He puts it back as you can see in slow mo from the first time he does the trick by actually bending his pinky finger and slotting the concealed ring back. It's too fast to notice which is where the excellent sleight of hand comes in. And the half ring is designed to easily snug either inside or outside the original ring so whenever he needs to conceal it in plain sight he can.
