Melanie, I adored you, you played in a venue in Providence, I was so memorized that I walked up to the stage, you bent down and I gave you my love beads, they were a huge thing back then and the only peice or jewelry I owned. I will never forget that concert and that moment, you were the most gracious beautiful women I had ever seen and as a young girl I wanted to be just like you, my path took a different turn but to this day at 68 years old I tell that story often, Rest peacefully, I will never forget that day❤

I've been listening to Melanie's music since my university day. I still remember vividly her concert at the Royal albert Hall in the early 70's when I was a graduate student at the London School of Economics. So sad to learn of the sad news that she has passed on. RIP Melanie. Your music will always remain a part of my life.

SUCH a sweet SWEET soul, for her children I feel most sad, for their loss then for all of us fans. My cousin when I was 3 would say it was her (melody) that sang the song Brand New Key & I was 3 so on the radio after the song played the dj would say AND THAT was Melanie & I couldn't differentiate that it wasn't my 14 year old cousin 😂 I believed that for a while until I found my mothers records & realized they were in fact two separate ladies. Some Say I Got Devil was the B side I think & Candles in the Rain & Look what they done to my song ma...I played the HELL out of those records. I wish I'd have been able to see her live 😔 but nonetheless I've been an LEGIT fan since I was 3!! Xxo

Well, I really want to say that I love your story that you’re very intellectual in your storytelling and it draws you in and then you have the music to back it up with. That’s what I’m saying you guys are the most incredible band musicians that I have heard in a long time. Thank you.

I was 13 when I feel in love with this amazing woman. She wasn't mainstream. Never was. It was 1969 I saw a picture of her and then I listened. Her voice her range her power. What's not to fall in love with. I saw her in concert a few times photographed her made a little home movie and sung along when she sang at the Sydney Opera House. Like so many others I have most of her albums. My favourite might be Ballroom Streets or Sunset and Other Beginnings. It took my breath away when I heard the news. She was no longer in the world. It's a cliché but the world is a quieter place without her. I have her music and I'll keep listening. Her music lives on. I will try not to mourn her, but celebrate her life and music. My condolences to her family and fans.

There is no images of it. She sat and played the guitar and sang. I think this was 1976. She told the audience that she was given a bit of a tour of the technology in the Opera House and they stressed that if someone was to smoke the could identify the seat. As usual for her concerts someone got up and sat on the stage, but the Opera House police carted him away. They didn't understand. I think they were the equivalent of Mall Cops. The acoustics were good but it made little difference given the power of Melanie's voice. In the end it's a room and a stage. I remember it because it was Melanie. @@scorpina69

Your thumbnail makes her look like fat Merlin, thanks. With all that excess weight she must have had diabetes related illnesses, maybe heart disease is what killed her. Obviously it was not vegetarianism which caused it all. Lack of exercise wouldn't help either. She was overweight or obese for a long time and it needs to be addressed, not ignored. Her face hadn't aged that much, and I always loved the way she moved on her chair.
