Hi, we’re Tony 🇺🇸 and Beth 🇬🇧! Join us as we drag our two teen boys on as many trips as we can before they ‘fly the nest’. Basically, if they’re not in school - they’re with us on holiday! (Er… vacation)
What’s in store? Lots of international cruises, US and UK road trips, and as much Disney as we can stand! Along the way, Tony (a former WDW Cast Member) and Beth (a former cruise ship entertainer) will give you their dual US/UK perspective on the ships, hotels, and experiences in each video!
Check back every Sunday at 1pm EST (6pm GMT)... sometimes a little earlier if we can... for new weekly content!
See you soon!!!

Great video! This not only gave me the feeling that I was there but it also helped me with creating a digital version of this arena!
Win/win! Thanks for watching!
Can I ask what month you went???? It looks amazing!!!
This was the first week in April!
We went last October on Celebrity. We docked at Ketchikan...we did not have to bus in to town.
That’s what we’ve heard about Celebrity! Seems NCL seems to be the only odd one out!
What a dry, cynical woman. I can't watch.
Your ship was parked at the Mill where I used to work. Which is also about 1/2 mile from where I grew up in Ward Cove. Good video.
Ward Cove is beautiful! Next time we go, we’ll explore that area more
Haven’t been to Typhoon Lagoon in about 20 years since I was a victim to the sharp floor in the wavepool, cuts and bruises everywhere 😅 poor Beth getting stuck under the waterfall 😭 ‘I got a water!’ 🤣 great video! Love your videos 😊
Oh no, you poor thing! Hope Disney looked after you? Loved watching Kotor (we didn’t get to dock there last year on the Constellation due to bad weather, so it was great to see what we missed)!
We’re sailing to Alaska the 1st week of September. On the Celebrity Edge. We have been on many Celebrity cruises and never had any issues. Hopefully all will go well. We sailed several years ago on NCL Epic and had the same crowd problems. We’re trying NCL next year for our Canada New England cruise. Our travel agent said it’s a small ship. NCL Gem, so she doesn’t think we will have the same problems as the experience on the Epic. I really wanted to do Celebrity CL for Canada New England but it’s 12 Nights & 12 Nights is too long for my husband.
I’m sure you’ll have a great time. We love Celebrity, it’s our favourite cruise line!!!
Great video, never been to the water parks at Disney, we’ve done 2 in Dubai which were fun but when it gets busy it can get a bit much, even the kids get bored of queues after a few hours and prefer to be back in the hotel pool. That Dole whip looked amazing, I’ve only had it at Hawaii Dole plantation and Disney and it’s the best thing I’ve ever tasted, it is definitely not for sharing 😂😂😂
Tony here… thank you for backing me up! One Dole Whip per person!!
@@TravellingWithTeens Is Dole whip in all other states, never noticed it other than Disney & Hawaii? They need to sell it in the U.K.
@cruisefraterpoultons we’ve never known it in any other US state. Also, we’re pretty sure Disney doesn’t count as a state… but we’d like it to be!
@@TravellingWithTeens 😂😂 Enjoy the rest of the weekend 😎
Castaway is so well done. It has something for everyone and the staff is exceptional.
Agree! Thanks for watching!
Not my cup of tea, as there's too much sun, heat, & crowds (the trifecta of yuck) -- but glad you had a modicum of fun.
Thanks! We always do!
Blizzard Beach or Typhoon Lagoon: which do you prefer?
I saw another video saying NCL cannot manage its crowds. There was chaos as well. I was considering trying NCL for my 2nd cruise, but seeing how far they dock at the ports and not able to manage crowds, I don't want to book with them. My first cruise was to Alaska with another cruise line, and I had a wonderful time! I want to go to Alaska again so I can do things I didn't get to do the first time. BTW, I hope things go better on your next NCL cruise!
Thank you, and we hope so too! Good luck finding the right cruise line for you!!!
So what happened?! What was going on?! Is this just a one off? So weird
We think it was just a combination of poor management (NCL not knowing how many passengers were off the ship and in Ketchikan still) and the fact that it was so early in the season that Ketchikan was down on drivers for the buses. We got back in the end!
What fates were you there? How was the weather? We are thinking of going next May
We were the first week in April. Cold, but not unbearable. Didn’t stop us doing anything. Thanks for watching!
TravellingWithTeens: This was the most spectacular footage. Thank you so much for filming this for viewers to see! What a treat!!! Beautiful otters & whales & dolphins and your cat! Happy travels. Stay well. Thank you! 💓🦦💓🐳💓🐬💓🐈💓WOW!
Thank you!
Thank you, Travelling With Teens.💓🚢👨👩👦👦💓
You’re very welcome! Thank YOU for watching!
Heat 4 was my fave 😅
Ours too! It’s absolutely the BEST activity at sea, regardless of cruise line (lol)
You asked if this was normal for NCL. It very much is on their larger ships. I try to stick their smaller 2400 passenger ships. Added benift is that the smaller ships can dock closer to town. I have been on the Bliiss before and didn't like the crowds whatsoever. The Food Republic you tried to go to is the silver lining of the ship. Fantastic Food
That’s good to know. We do prefer slightly smaller ships, our favourite so far being the Celebrity Constellation. We booked the Prima for Christmas/NYE as it fits our dates, and ticks off sailing out of NYC on our Bucket List… we feel a bit more prepared for NCL this time, and aren’t so focused on the ports, so hopefully it will be more relaxing
new subscriber!! loved the vlog. we live here and have never done this!! looks fun.
It was a blast! Thanks for watching!
What a depressing viedo…I go to the gym almost everyday..sweat…remember sweat?….im 72…can’t take the crowds of people walking around , remind me of a flock of sheep…looking at the group trying to get back to ship….with all the long lines…what a waste of time…can’t wait to see all the viedos of your vacation….nice couple….going to the gym…..
Thanks for watching! We hope you like the rest… they’re not all depressing!
Just subbed! We went in May and fell in love with Orlando. Loved your vlog!
Thanks! Just subbed back, your content looks right up our street! See you around!!!
I was on the Westerdam relocation b2b from Japan 6 weeks ago. There were 4 cruise ships in the harbor and Ketchican was a zoo. But I've been there before and enjoyed it.
It’s a shame when these ports get Overwhelmed with passengers, it can ruin the experience. We were happy to be the only ship in! Thanks for watching!
I know you don't intend for this to happen, but your videos leave me a bit teary-eyed -- I loved traveling with the kids when they were teenagers, and even into their 30s. It all goes so fast. Enjoy it! 🥲
It feels like it’s going so quickly! So glad we’re getting to make these memories, and we hope want to come away with us when they’re older! Thanks for watching!
new Subbie, came over from the Lodge Guys. We love going to the boardwalk, great place for peace and quiet. WE daily vlog too.
Thanks! We just subbed you, looking forward to having a look at your content. Cheers!
What a great way to see around all the Disney resorts. Shame it was so hot on the day you did it. Loved seeing in all the different hotels, they are gorgeous inside.
It’s a great activity, and totally free! Thanks for watching as always
I’d LOVE to meet you guys in WDW!!!
Do you ever get to Boston?
@crmp26 we haven’t yet but it’s on the list!
Did the Bliss last September to Alaska. We were in the Haven and it was fabulous!!
Haven is on our list! Looks amazing, and a totally different experience
We are booked on the Bliss in the Haven in July 2025. Can't wait!!
Have an amazing time!!!
The heat can completely drain every bit of energy. 😮😢
And it did! We are usually really good in the heat, but even we struggled
Nice bag Beth! 😉
Yes. A very good friend of mine purchased it for me for a birthday. I have matching ears too, but they were too warm to wear
Looks like fun! The yacht club is our favorite resort. ( I have done a pool tour video) thanks for sharing and looking forward to see your next video. Captain Hook is single-handily the best Disney villain. 🤣🤣 PS Is I wouldn’t kick her out of bed for eating crackers a west Michigan saying? I used it all the time when I was younger 😂
It must be a Western Michigan thing! Thanks for watching as always, we will check out your pool tour now!
Guess how many STEPS we did during the Skyliner Scavenger Hunt? (We’ll tell you higher or lower until someone gets it right!)

Ok so you miss a meal? You are ready to bail off NCL? I've been on 27 cruises and it does happen. Have a cocktail and relax, we all could stand to miss a meal or two. All cruises are like that on short days. EVERYONE wants OFF and then then EVERYONE wants back on. It's vacation relax.
Is there a shuttle to cross the bridge? Thanks for a great review.
There are mobility carts to help passengers over the footbridge at the dock. Is that what you’re referring to?
One must for any trip to Alaska, an 🌂.
Absolutely!
NCL - my least favorite cruise line. NCL’s Prima - my least favorite ship.
Oh dear! We’re booked on the Prima over Christmas and New Year! Look out for those vlogs in early 2025!!!
Seems like the moral of the story is to cruise on a line that ports near the place everyone is going to, versus miles away? NCL tries to make this out like a benefit but as you've been able to document - not so much 🤔
Indeed! Though it can run smoothly if the cruise line organises it better!
In Ketchikan early May 2024. Loved it even with the ubiquitous liquid sun. Nice people, quaint historic town. 'Touristy' of course. Don't miss the saloon and have a Duck Fart.
Glad you enjoyed it, we really loved it too! Thanks for watching!
I was there in September 2022 and love Ketchikan. Used to work on Princess ships and always loved Alaska. We used to do 19 or 20 cruises per season and once I was there for the entirety. Last time I nearly had a heart attack when I ordered a Flat White coffee and it was over USD 7.00. It wasn't even that great either.
Prices in all the cruise ports have really gone up, haven’t they? We cruised the Greek islands last year and the prices had skyrocketed from what we were used to!
I lived within walking, and specifically hearing distance, of where the cruise dock. The ‘pier’ mentioned is the Ogden Point breakwater at Dallas Road, a very popular walkway - 244 metres, or 800 feet. Our cherry trees tend to blossom in February, I think they were late this year (2024)They were gifted to Victoria 85 years ago by the local Japanese community and are treasured by locals and cared by the municipalities.
That’s lovely to hear about the trees! They really were beautiful!
Obviously a NCL glitch in their programming. A bit confused why they would charge you, or why you would choose a charter, around Ketchikan when you can walk.
To be clear, the shuttles were free into Ketchikan, and then we walked around (also for free). We didn’t walk from The Mill at Ward Cove because it was over 7 miles. Thank you for watching!
The itineraries I have looked at specify whether they are docking at Ward Cove or Ketchikan. And for the record, Ketchikan is actually a year 'round community. Most of the residents avoid the areas that are overrun by cruisers during the day, so the cruisers may only see the carpet bagger army that runs the cheesy gift shops, but there are 12,000+ people who live there all year. It is actually a pleasant visit during the off season, there are regular flights to Seattle and Juneau and ferry service up and down the coast.
Thanks for the info, we loved it and would happily go back at any time of year… although probably not at peak season and probably not with NCL
Great tour! We just booked this ship for an 11 day Italy cruise next Summer and are very excited.
Thank you! It’s our favourite ship. Have a lovely time
Your son is so blessed. I felt his excitement and joy. I checked the prices, I expected something outrageous for a 3-hour show in a VIP lounge. My issue is: do I go to Eurovision and sit, or do I join the mad crowd and dance all night long? Thanks for the vlog, you convinced me to check tickets for the show in Switzerland. Even if the prices shall be muuuuch different.
Thank you! So glad you enjoyed the video, and best of luck finding tickets!
Hi! Thank you for posting. We are looking at flying into San Diego for our next Disneyland trip. How was the drive from San Diego to Anaheim?
We did it VEEERY early in the morning (5am or so) and there was no traffic! It was brilliant, if a bit boring because it was too dark to see much! I highly recommend it though, having flown into LAX before and hated it
hi yeah I'm gutted I went 2nd Jun paid for VIP (before I saw your vid) and they gave me a tote bag with the teddy mickey in......that was it... they said they were out of stock of all the rest of the items and took my address so they could post it all to me.... 3 weeks down the line ive emailed them called them and no luck so far at getting the items. I keep getting passed on to different companies and people with excuses... so annoying as I paid vip and hardly got anything they promised... After seeing your vid the limited 100 pin which was what I wanted well... you didn't get it either.... I feel like its been very bad customer service and I'm really out of pocket Disney! Plus the event ends on the 23rd in three days time so I doubt ill get any of it now. not a happy lady but tbh it doesn't look very good anyway :) thought I would share my experience just annoyed that Ive paid for air.
It certainly wasn’t the usual Disney experience for sure! Sorry to hear you had problems too. Keep hassling them
@@TravellingWithTeens I shall do :)
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 When she said she was trying to eat healthy at the start of the cruise-and the way in which he said it didn't last long 😂😂😂. I laughed so hard!!!!!
I think that’s everyone’s story on a cruise! We all start with good intentions, and then…
I liked Wards Cove. It is better with the smaller ships since the larger ships crowd the ports. I went on the double-decker bus just for the round trip sightseeing. I went on an excursion to a park near Wards Cove. When I was n Alaska in 2018 I went on an all day excursion so don't remember anything about the town. I did not know that the main dining rooms were ever open on a port day. When they are open on sea days the closing time is to give the crew enough time to get the venue cleaned up and ready for dinner with hopefully some time for the staff to get a little bit of a break. You folks seem to like being negative so that attitude will negatively affect your cruise experience.
Thank you for your comments, your experience sounds amazing. This is our 57th video on KZread, but if you watch the others you will see it is our first to show any negativity (and, even then, only at the end). Just so you - and anyone else reading these comments - are clear: we don’t enjoy being negative… we just enjoy cursing and travel! And when a couple things go wrong in rapid succession, we’re going to talk about it. We find vloggers who constantly put a negative spin on cruising to be boring and distasteful, so we don’t watch
I just got back yesterday from princess in Alaska and it was amazing and not at all like this. I recommend princess for Alaska hands down.
Yes, we think we will!
The Mill had a clearance section with great prices. Stuff was probably less than half price.
What, on our sailing? I wish I’d seen that!
