That's called neglect
Or maybe customers thought they were driving full EV.
Do you have to make the car relearn the throttle
Some vehicle relearning is required but my experience most kia relearning is not required, but to be safe do exactly how I did it. Thanks for watching.
Thanks for the vid. Bro. I just finished mine. It's 10:27 pm EST where I'm at and I started like at 4:50. The first three plugs went by surprisingly fast. When I was screwing the engine cover back on, the right corner bolt seemed take forever to tigthen. My wife was helping me when I said, "this feels sorta loose but I feel like I'm overtightening". My wife was like, "well, just stop then". I was like, "one more turn and that's it". SNAP! Freaking bolt broke ON THE BLOCK. Shit. Now to carefully extract it without damaging the threading (cuz it would have been game over at that point) and then find a similar bolt. An hour later, removed and bolt replaced. But then the three plug assemblies from the front of the engine came off in parts. Like only the center (I think that's #4) came out in one piece. The other two came out with just the top part and it was a nightmare removing the rubber plugs without damaging them. Whatever. That's my horror story. Found out that the passenger side headlight wire is fried. The fuel pump has already been replaced under warranty (just before the recall was announced). This vehicle is starting to show its true colors.
@@naimarbaje3202 I’m sorry to hear that, but I’m glad you got it done 👊🏽… here’s my story, I worked at this vehicle early Friday morning for check engine light concerns I fixed the CEL and also mentioned a spark plugs service, I got a green light from the customers around 4:30 pm , customer wants their car back at 5pm, I’m like yeah I can get it done, I was doing good and confident that I can beat the promise time until I installed the 14mm intake manifold incorrectly, the bolt is not in the hole it’s just seating in the bracket, then I started the manifold long bolt by hand, when I used my ratchet I felt something is not right, well I ignored it and kept going until I heard a snap and the 10mm bolt kept spinning, we have to give the customer car rental with company expense and I showed up the next day to get it done. Small mistake ruined my weekend…
Thank you for posting this, I'm actually a Kia tech at a dealership and this has worked for me for the second time now after doing a recall.😅
@@MikeMayneMusic I’m glad it worked buddy. Thanks for tuning in.
My volume controls and cruise control functions on the steering wheel are not working. Could this be the clock spring as well? Or is it more likely because the previous owner has installed a apple play screen? Any help much appreciated! Thx from Copenhagen 🙂
Well, there is aftermarket parts involved here, yes it could be the clock spring or the apple car play or maybe the switch itself, not long ago I replaced clock spring for audio unit concerns, the FM station will seek station while steering, when I removed the clock spring and examined it I noticed the ribbon slightly damage and causing the seek button to engaged.
Thanks for the Video. It took me 3 hours. Tools needed was Ratchet, 10mm,14mm,couple of different extension lengths, 5/8 spark plug socket, a magnet to pull out spark plugs, pliers for clamps and a flat head for clips
@@laoaznkev87 you’re welcome. Thanks for watching.
Ryan you forgot to mention some Sportage models have bare roofs with no rails to attach the racks to !!!
Sorry about that, some sportage who release in 2021 don’t have rails. Thanks for watching.
Why isn’t this recalled? Is this not a safety issue?
This issue should be a safety recalled, since the BCM is malfunction you can able to start the engine when in reverse or drive but kia never release one.
5.5
Kia needs a lawsuit for this .
Did you ever solve this issue? Running into it now with my Stinger
Yes, air is trapped in cooling system, I don’t know about your situation but this car just got cooling system service and proper bleeding doesn’t perform well.
@@WrenchingRyan gotcha. I've taken it to the dealer twice now and they've flushed the coolant both times.. Will likely bring this up again when I bring it in for the recall
@@DanIsAsian Don’t wait too long, airlock in cooling system can also overheat your engine.
@@WrenchingRyan I've had this issue for months now. My engine has not had a problem with overheating like some other owners. Just the heating issue
Thanks
You’re welcome.
Do kia cars in the us not have a immobiliser chips in the keys? Wouldnt work in the uk this method.
The base model don’t have immobilizer but I believe since this accident happened kia released all newer model with standard immobilizer package. Thanks for watching.
So I have bought my car from nissan and got the maus care package, which includes free oil change for life. I bought the kia in, and yeah, the horn didn't work, and they wanted almost $300.... $300! Anyway, good job on the diagnosis and bounus points for saying it was a 10mm socket. Of course, the work would be easy, but I always like to check out a video to see what i gotta get into . Thank you
when I tighten the drain plug on my 2013 Elantra to 33 ft lbs. there is a small leak. I got the washer from dealer. your thoughts?
Is the small leak continuous flowing? It could be just left over oil from drain plug? Or maybe go like 40 ft lbs then re check. Thanks for watching.
@@WrenchingRyan I tighten it twice. leaks when hot and no leak when cold overnight. Will give it a bit more turn if leaks again.
@HiFiInsider your drain plug is OEM?
@@WrenchingRyan yes it’s the original from new. I’m the original owner of the car the washer was from dealer when i bought the oil filter.
Hi i saw your video of kia sorento 2016 where the bcm defekt was but then u dont done the replacement video my question did the person have to do the programming after neu bcm installation please reply will be very thanks full
Yup, after BCM replace both key fob need to be program to the BCM.
@WrenchingRyan only key fob other thing will work right ? And you dont make video how to replace
@@WrenchingRyan and can you please guide where the bcm is located
@@bestefotos8482 just the key fob, the customer declined the service so no replacement video. Sorry.
@@WrenchingRyan how much long can i drive with defect bcm
Just that little dirt makes a big deal in car running smoothly?
Yup, I had one not long ago doesn’t wanna stay idle no code, so i started cleaning the throttle plate and engine runs/idle smoothly.
Question.... did you really need to remove the battery?
Yes, It will give you more room when removing the the intake housing assembly. Thanks for watching.
Great video, it is the same as in my 2013 Santa Fe 3.3 V6. Only addition- change the PCV valve at the same time. An OEM PCV is only 10-12 dollars. It is located behind and to the right of the last spark plug near the firewall and is EASY to get at once you have cleared everything away to get at those back plugs!
Great idea. Thanks for the advice.
Are those directional tires, you kept them on the same side of the vehicle, mad respect for torquing the lug nuts. Last time a shop installed my tires I almost couldn`t get them off. Spec is 80 ft. lbs. and they must have been 150....keep up the PRO work!
Yes they are, torquing the lug nuts always give me and the customers peace of mind. Thanks for watching.
Thank you! I needed this help!
You’re welcome.
At 15:30 the bottom left push on grommet for the plastic cover. Whats the part directly above it thats shaped like a diamond with 2 bolts. Silver on the outside and has the black circle in the middle. Mine looks to be leaking oil and was wondering what part that is but i cant find anything online. I would appreciate an answer
That part called OCV oil control valve, I’m not 100% sure but I think the diamond shape with 2 bolt can buy separately, I’ll ask my part guy on Monday then I’ll get back to you. Thanks for watching.
They probably used zerex blue coolant, it's an aftermarket equivalent to the green coolant in Asian vehicles.
Probably. Thanks for visiting my channel lately.
@@WrenchingRyan keep the videos coming, they're appreciated.
I like that you show the part number. thank you!
You bet!
This is one of the best car tutorials I’ve seen on KZread. Thanks!
Thank you so much.
I have 2024 sportage 3,500 miles. I checked the oil today after this video and the level is on low line?
You have to keep the level in between LOW/FULL, the best way to check fluid level is when the vehicle parked overnight. Thanks for watching.
Our car was broken into - they got in through the passenger rear window and must have cut something. Now window won't stay up/down - thinking we need a new regulator. Does that sound right?
Broken regulator sounds about right but you gotta make sure your window motor works first. When you try to roll it up/down you should hear the motor.
Great Video Bro...
Thank you so much.
I will look at mine and see if this is the reason
Good luck buddy
I changed My 2016 kia sedona spark plugs and had to buy to different brand spark plugs Took it for a test drive and stopped at a stop sign and shut off on me now it won't crank no start😢 Could it be a crank shaft position sensor problem or ignition switch sensor idk their s a list of possibilities. I know the battery is good, and starter relay is good I knocked on the starter didn't work
Sorry to hear that, so technically no crank no start after replacing the spark plugs, since the engine won’t crank don’t worry about the crankshaft position sensor, under the dashboard on driver side you will see the IPM look for start fuse, you gonna need a test light, ground your test light then check the start fuse, if the your test light turn on while you try to start the engine then you’re ignition switch is good but if you’re test light did not turn on then you have a bad ignition switch.
Great video!! Should I disconnect the battery 1st??
Yes please, disconnect the negative battery cable first. Thanks for watching.
Thank you so much! You are awesome! I appreciate it!
@@11333Angel you’re welcome.
Nice work as always. great video!
Thank you.
KIa of St. Augustine has my 2013, with 75k on the motor. They're doing the engine replacement as I type this. They didn't know I was a mechanic and told me the motor replacement was free of charge but I needed 3150.00 in repairs. Hood insulation, 800. Full brake job with rotors, 1300.00, two new front tires for 900.00 and if I don't buy the tires from them, they said they can't test drive my car after the motor replacement because there's only 1/16 of tread and it'll be too dangerous. I politely declined and told them I'd bring them the two tires. I was blown away when the dude told me that shit. I know they gotta make money, totally. But damn, that's straight up gouging me.
could tightening or adding Teflon help stop the leak?
For diy’rs adding teflon is not bad idea, I have not done it, I replaced the radiator due to customers extended warranty. Thanks for watching.
Worn out main bearings, and engine is knocking severely. Thanks for watching.
What were the issues that resulted in the bct?
severely knocking.
Where did it come from? Kia inventory or customer provided part?
From Kia inventory, they probably repackaged the used one by accident.
@@WrenchingRyan makes sense.
What are you spraying in the green can? Great video thanks
Brake cleaner, you can get some on any auto store. Thanks for watching.
If I’m getting you clearly; do you mean the the engine is supposed to be idling at operating temperature before you check it?
You can check the ATF level when the transmission is in operating temperature while engine is idling at Park or Neutral. Thanks for watching.
Sounds like an antique.
Oh brother.
Those Theta II engine piston ring designs were a mistake.
Are you supposed to let it sit after you connect it back up
You don’t have to, you can start the engine after tightening the cable. Thanks for watching.
Great video. Do you have a link to where you got the part from?
No, sorry, but we’ve been installing aftermarket catalyst they don’t fit well but they work, I’ll ask my parts guy tomorrow.
You make it look so easy 😢 mine is blocked and I'm going to try and do it all myself 😂 this will be interesting
You can do it!
who makes the adjustable jack you used in the video to support the control arm? I'm trying to find a good quality one.
Made by sunex, I’ll send you a link when I get home. Thanks for watching.

How do I make that test light.?
can you clean it once its out and put it back, I have never had a car throw a p0420 code under 80k miles, could it just be the sensor? I know my 2017 sportage burns oil and I have to put in about 3 quarts between the 6k oil changes. Would this gum up the converter and make the code happen?
