    The truth about Aromanians is as follows: Yes, Romanians and Aromanians have the same origins. They are both descendants of Roman settlers mixed with the native Paleobalkan populations (Thracians and Dacians). However Vlachs are not Romanians. In fact their history has diverged over 1000 years ago. Aromanians originally lived in the southern borders of the so called ‘Latin-influenced’ areas of the Balkan region of the Roman Empire. During the Slavic invasions they moved south for protection and were thus still subjects of Rome (Byzantine Empire), while the northern Latin speaking populations were cut off, and a few centuries later formed the medieval Romanian states, and then modern Romania. Vlachs on the other hand continued to constitute part of the Roman nation, or Romaioi (Ρωμαίοι) aka Byzantine. This was the dominant national consciousness of the Byzantine empire for all orthodox populations in their domains regardless of what language they spoke (although the language of the church and administration was Greek). Fast forward to the early modern period, the medieval national consciousness of Romaios (Ρωμαίος) started to evolve to the Modern Greek national identity. Many non Greek speaking orthodox populations identified with the Greek cause, fought in the Greek revolution and were pioneers in shaping modern Greece. Aromanians in particular have historically held high positions in administration and commerce. That is why the majority of Aromanians today consider themselves Greek and not Romanian. As part Aromanian I would not consider myself anything else other than Greek due to the centuries of belonging to the same state (Byzantine Empire), having the same national consciousness (Roman in the old days, and Greek in the modern period), and of course having the same religion, and also being under the Ecumenical Patriarchate.

  • @mariusfilip1847
    @mariusfilip18472 күн бұрын

    @@saebica if that is not similarity, then what is similarity? Cum ti acl'eamă is not much different from Romanian Cum te cheamă, with the exception that Aromanian preserved the older cl'i/cl'e whereas Romanian evolved to chi/che and Aromanian places a protethic A in front of the some words (acl'em instead of cl'em). Keep in mind that some Aromanian groups use chi/che instead of cl'i/cl'e and other Aromanian groups do not place protethic A. So, they say Cum ti cheamă, exactly how one may hear in parts of Romania. And you're not right, it's not the same in all Romance languages. French says it differently (Comment t'appelles tu?) and the Spanish have llamar for what Romanians would say chemare and Aromanians acl'limare. The Portuguese have chamar (pronounces shamar), etc.

The gym trainers here in Sweden generally walk up to the person and then speak in a normal tone, and always remain respectful - I have literally _never_ seen _anyone_ at my public gym make a big scene about anything, and I have gone there since 2014.

    Dimitri - Cum ti chiamâ? Ghini.. is SAME, not similar, as in Moldovian (East) Romanian. In today's Romanian is 'Cum te cheama? Bine' The main vocabulary of Aromanian, where is not borrowed or replaced with Greek or Slavic terms, is identical with Archaic Romanian, from different regions of Romania, both internationally considered east Romance languages.

    People that do that bullshit where they scream and drop the weight after 1-3 reps need to lift lighter weights. The full rep is important. This is kinda just showing you don't have control over the weight and need to lighten things. You'll probably make much better progress doing it with more discipline

    The Vlachs are Greeks. In ancient times, there were many Greeks at the supposed borders of the Roman Empire, where they also spoke in Latin. Vlach is a Balkan Latin-derived dialect that has many similarities with the Romanian language. In Albania, there are many Vlachs who are referred to as Greeks, and even the Albanians themselves see them as Greeks. The fact that they speak a different dialect does not mean they are not Greeks. There are Greeks who speak Arvanitic, an Albanian dialect, there are Turkish-speaking Pontic and Cappadocian Greeks, and even those who speak the Griko dialect in Italy are Greeks. Be proud of your heritage, my friend. I am writing this in English for better understanding, but your Greek was very good.
