It had a good intention but your video is too confusing. There is too much information, plugins, technique, it’s a shame. I would like have something simple or perhaps clearer. I'm a little disappointed, this video is aimed at professionals and not simple producers like us. you talk about clipping, gain reduction, etc. we barely know what that means. We can obviously go elsewhere and find out more information then come back to your video but that would be no interest.

@@Zdrewe Hey for what it's worth I'm an amateur producer and absolutely loved this video. Currently diving into the CTZ philosophy because of it. IMO it was easy to understand and clear. It required a little bit of prior knowledge sure but if your channel was made for only beginnners all the time many would lose interest. More advanced and/or niche topics are good to have IF you want to make them! Thanks for the video!

The loudness war in EDM could be ended instantly by Pioneer putting LUFS meters instead of peak meters on their mixers, and putting an arrow where you should be sitting on the meter. Half the problem is you can't play more dynamic music, because chances are the clown DJ playing before you was already redlining the mixer with -4 LUFS bangers and the sound person has already rolled their eyes and turned the system down to compensate. There's no headroom for bigger peaks in this scenario

Also demoing Kraftur. I have a few clippers including Newfangled Saturate, Kclip3, Standard Clip and even though the GUI of Kraftur (I also love Gullfoss) is amazing, I don't like its sound as much as Kclip3. I already have too many clippers anyway.

You can add huge amounts of loudness with Kraftur through saturation but as it comes down to it’s clipper, it’s a roulette - sometimes it works fine (like in this example) but I’ve been trying it on another track and it simply shaves off too much.

@@Zdrewe I could not get it to the same LUFS without distortion coming in earlier than where it did with KClip3 and generally couldn't get the same clarity...dunno if its the extra band in the multiband section of KClip3 and the cross overs being different because of it that basically it makes its possible to get ballpark settings and not exactly the same, but yeah...I am a SoundTheory fan and was about to just purchase Kraftur straight away, but then I tried the demo and that stopped me from buying it.

people really need to learn that using rerfere3nce tracks and trying to replicate them is the best way to learn, honestly same goes for learning serum and vital, I never learned how to use those synths watching wub tutorials on youtube I learned by downloadiung my favorite artist serum packs and tearing apart each preset I liked apart and replicate them, I use those techniques that I learned by doing that to create my own original packs!!!!

Yo, how u use shaper box for sc? U use midi clip with midi trigger with external instrument or classic mode with audio trigger? As i think, ableton don't repair pdc in ableton 12 and we have problems with plugins delays.

I like to use it with audio trigger but not anymore honestly. That’s because of the delay and that’s also why Chain Shaper is way better solution - no latency at all, even if you put a bunch of plugins before and after

Thanks a lot 🙏 usually “bad frequencies” or resonances can be found in 3-10kHz area but that highly depends on the track (you can go even as low as 1kHz. They’re caused by frequency buildups from layering different sounds or different sounds occupying similar spot. The way to identify them is usually by sweeping this frequency area with narrow bell curve although it can also be misleading. From my experience the best solution is either using tools like RESO by Mastering The Mix or Soothe. The “delta” mode in RESO gives a clear idea on where to find those. Both plugins have free trials and as long as Soothe is the goat, RESO deserve its flowers for being cheaper, more intuitive and more precise (last one in my opinion)

most of the legendary music we heard from the past did not have "note by note phase fixing". i think if you have a big issue with phase you will hear it and if you don't then don't bother and get on with writing your song : D it's good to know but most times it's just working against finishing the most important thing => the song

Now it may surprise you but…. I totally agree with what you said here. It’s hard to find a balance between being geeky of tiny little details and holding up to the legacy of being an “actual” artist. Some do really enjoy being nerdy and I think the best solution is to use those tips once you have the composition done. For example I had this track done but I couldn’t get to my preferred loudness level. Once I tried this technique it instantly improved the sound and now I have it scheduled for release at the beginning of July. Thanks for your insight 🙏

@@Zdrewe i’m glad to hear you agree :D I think unfortunately tough most electronic music these days are focused on technical issues and are lacking on attitude and authenticity. I still hear records from early 90’s that i can hear on repeat and have none of this surgical things the new songs have. Like having a bit of random phase on your bass for instance might actually do good for you, having locked phase can sound like having all notes of a song with the same velocity. There is so much nuance to older records, some of them even sound shit and still the tracks hit a lot harder because their composition is more imaginative and relaxed. Getting into the studio with this mind set unfortunately doesnt happen so often, we are all guilty of this :D

1:40 I'm pretty sure that can be solved by adjusting the release time of the compressor. I don't see how that points out as an advantage of volume shapers compared to regular sidechain compression.

@@Zdrewe Another major thing is that you can make the sidechain trigger with another source. So, the way I do it is by duplicating the kick track and then disable it. Then I can put the audio of the pseudo kick as a trigger for the sidechain. And before I step into the compressor settings, I can edit the audio to get the desired curve result more easily. Many people usually replace the pseudo kick with a short click sound audio clip to replicate the sort of curve you demonstrated in the video.

Quick commentary I forgot to edit in: 5:00 - the bass I made ended up being aligned with kick while playing root note. Chances are your’s is not. To adjust it, follow the steps from the next part of the video
