    My guy, "audio normalization" doesn't compress the dynamic range. It just normalizes volume between tracks. Why would they even have that as an option?

    "intended to be heard" oh boy do I have a funny thing for ya, you're audio gear is already altering it, and on top of that Spotify alters it as well by using a non lossless file format, "intended to be heard" is stupid to say as you're not listening to lossless audio plus you don't have the same headphones/speakers they used. and on top of that a lot of the music creating process isn't 1 person. there is no "as the artist intended"

    not altrering the way the song was intending to be heard is impossible. unless u have access to the exact sound system of the studio and have access the the flac. any headphones or speakers will have a signature frequency response that can be made closer to the original sound in the studio with eq if done right

    Here's the thing though - Experienced producers and mastering engineers never mix the song to sound good on _their_ studio monitors. They will produce different mixes for different sources - one for streaming, where you're using mostly phone speakers or low quality earbuds, one for CD release, which will probably have the clearest mix but is only CD quality, one for vinyl, which can't have too much transients or the needle will jump, one for radio with everything cranked up to max since radios don't tend to be in quiet environments, and so on. Oh, and, we never work with FLACs. A FLAC will only be the final mastered product. Everything, from the mic to the mastering engineer's PC, is done as a WAV.

Had a text 2 speech program in two phones and adjusted all the setting etc to same to have the same tone and voice in new phone. The dynamic whatever hacked it up on a level it was not even in same ballpark. Turn it off amd its ok again.

    im not sure, i got a big project for making audiobooks, im not sure which to pick, akg p120 or sm57. honestly i dont know much about audio, especially recording stuff. any insights?

  • @Samwimer
    @Samwimer5 күн бұрын

    I think either of those mics would serve you well! Both mics have a similar sound, but the akg p120 is a condenser mic so it is a little more sensitive and will grab more detail. So only go the condensor route if you have decent sound treatment where you are recording. Otherwise, you will pick up a lot of background noise with it. The sm57 is a dynamic mic, and has good built-in sound rejection. So if you are in a room with not much treatment, it will be more forgiving. If this is a really big project budget-wise, I would also suggest looking at the sm7B. That's my main mic and had incredible sound rejection and works great in my tiny little box studio. I have a few other videos on my channel where I talk about these mics, and compare them. Check those out and do some more research before you buy! If you are on PC or Mac, go to the top right to hit your profile. Then click "settings" you will instantly see everything you need on that menu. Hope this helps!!

    Sam, thank you for posting this brief video for the noobs out here. I am in my mid 60's and the last time I played live was in 1978. When children begin arriving at the age of 20, you tend to pack your dreams back into the case and store them in a closet. I was in the right spot, stationed just north of LA on the PCH between Malibu and Carpentaria. Once discharged, I was in the right place, but it was the wrong time. I had no real life experience back then, I had NOTHING to say and that was probably the main reason I walked away. There was NO INTERNET, you had to walk out your front door and dig up a place to play if you wanted to get anywhere. Wolves on every corner waiting for you to walk by and give you an opportunity, 'under' their control. It was the only way. But times have changed and guess what? I have something to say now. It is NEVER too late, thank you for giving me a jumping-off place because this is on like Donkey Kong. I will be back, spending some money now . . . . . Oh yes, a benefit of waiting this long is I have the funds to do as I please. Hahahahahahahaha. No one to control my art, no band members to throw chairs at; it is a good time to be alive.

    Why with the speakers with both brands you said the 5 or 8 size. Is there a reason not to recomend the 7 ? Also i want to get an audio interface for recording acoustic and electronic drumsets. What would you recomend ?

  • @Samwimer
    @Samwimer25 күн бұрын

    Hey Jonathan! I recommended those sizes since they are the only ones I have actually used myself. I'm sure the 7's are just as good! For your interface, make sure you have the right inputs! If you have an acoustic kit you really need to figure out how you are going to mic that bad boy. Like if you are micing the whole kit you probably have 5-10 mics running and need an interface with that many inputs. Or you might be micing the kit with just 2 overheads! I'm not sure what your specific setup is. For an electric kit just check your outputs and choose from there. I know my brother's electric kit has two 1/4-inch outputs OR a USB output that can be routed to MIDI. So think about your set-up ahead of time and find some options that fit your goals. Also, check out getting gear from sweetwater.com I'm not affiliated or sponsored with them at all, but they have really good customer service and I'm pretty sure you could get somebody on the phone and they could make some great recommendations as well! Hope this helps!
