Actually i think you just must purchase some platinum to contribute for the development. right now game has so much content and still could be played for free is just nutz in current gaming world when game studios sell single player games with gringy repetative content for 70+$ and still throw micro transactions on you to speed up process. Even if with warframe its frustrating and "novice unfriendly" but with 75% discount you can just donate those 20$ for 2000k plat and it will give you enough for a few prime frames, slots, customizations, craft time savers to start your journey without much problems. And yes, you still can get most of that for free from grinding night waves and others things, but i think devs deserve support for making this game and for adding huge parts of content, that becomes progressively better with every year, for everyone for free.

I view it as a way to pay to skip the early lvl play that most mmo's do but i must agree that trading in warframe could be a lot better but thats due to it having a low player count compared to other games like siege and rocket league that have higher player counts and thriving markets because of it

To be perfectly honest, the terms "pay to win" really doesn't apply to Warframe, neither the term "pay to progress" because you don't unlock any content by paying nor you get an advantage over the other players, yes some warframes and weapons are better than others, but you still have to do the missions, you still need to mod your gear and you definitely sitll need to farm resources. It is more "pay for convinience", because all you do paying money is instat access to the characters and equipment without the need to grind or wait the crafting time, that's it, nothing you buy is max level or modded, you still need to put in the work to make your gear powerful. The weapon and character slots were the only real thing you had to spend money before, but now with each rotation of the Nightwave, you can get the slots for free by progressing the battlepass just by playing the game. In my opinion, the people who complain in this game is the people who are just impatient and can't wait the crafting times, yes like you said, you want to play with the new toy, but in the meantime you could be farming other gear, upgrading your current gear, etc. and also like you said, you could farm the platinum you need to speed the crafting, so the argument that you have to spend money goes out the window.

I been playing for 3 and a half years and I put in $100 in real money that now I keep 5k plat at all times have every warframe and a lot of good stuff MR 29 and 4k hours in i could of did it with out it but it helped with progression in the game plus warframe is fun

I've played off and on since Totalbiscuit did his video.. so 10 years? I find a part of his complaint valid, if you never trade. In an hour, even as a newish player, you can trade enough to buy your rush or slot. You can literally trade anything inside 15 minutes. People will buy trash tier prime parts for a up to 5 plat each so they can convert them to ducats.

I wouldn't say it's P2W or P2P even. Like what are you "Winning" what are you "Progressing" The started frames may have less base damage but once you understand mods they go through content easy. There is nothing that you can buy that progresses you in the game directly. Someone that spends 1000nds still needs to do all the same mission farm the rep and complete the nodes to get to the questlines. It's a Pay to Prevent Grind if anything. And at that point, why even pay? That grind is part of the core gameplay loop. It's a Pay to have less fun. I do agree with the time gate but I do understand why it is there. It also (maybe unintentionally) forces you to play more with the stuff you have already. And it is a great way to get people coming back. It's a free to play game, with tons of content. You can pay for stuff but it doesn't make it any less fun when you don't. You don't miss out on anything when you don't as long as you want to invest the time.

You don't have to get your frame to max level in sanctuary onslaught, the bonus xp should be enough to max it out when you leave, like if you get to level 20, when you leave it will get you to level 30.

To be quite honest.. paying to rush crafting is the worst way to p2w in the game. Especially early on. On the other hand buying Warframe and Weapon *slots* is quite a thing indeed and makes progress a lot faster even without rushing crafting. Later on you can get into trading and gain platinum just by playing the game and trading stuff to other players.

Honestly, time gate isn't too much of an issue outside of expanding outside of the story (where they reduced build timers to 1min), but some things are too long, forma should be like 30 minutes, frame components 1-2 hours, whole frames 6h etc rather than 24 hours and 72. I think weapon and frame slots are fine when established, should get 10 or so starting slots instead to help kick-off. And yeah on the side nightwave and events like anniversary will provide slots

The only exception I can think of is actually buying plat, then scooping up primed mods. You skipped the endo farm, you skipped wait time for Baro to have it, and you skipped needing ducats. Mods are both how someone could see the game being p2w and how they can make their plat to keep their f2p lifestyle going.

Ngl p2w is honestly detrimental to the journey imo. It’s also more pay. You’d have to really have money like that to full dive into it. You’ll notice that some things are outright overpriced. Going off memory here but buying 1000 endo on the market goes for like 80 plat. Meanwhile you can 3 times that from trading with a player for sometimes less than 5p or just running a bunch of missions and progressing. Sure DE could be doing this to take advantage of anyone willing to pay like that. I personally think it’s to drive away people who would p2w. Could be both bc like u said they do need their money but yeah. I also don’t think a game is p2w, at least not in the way that other games can be, unless you’re required to pay to be good at or really enjoy the game. The elements definitely are there though

You are definitely paying for it.... but are you winning though. Going in without understanding the mechanics, no amount of paying would make you winning. In my opinion, the game monetary system is still acceptable, even though it is definitely p2w. I have bought a few prime access from time to time, but definitely not regretting the purchase since I like the frame and dont want to grind for it.

I'm a Veteran of 8 years with almost 6k hours in mission time, I have never seen this game as p2w. The only issue I ever had early on was slots of any kind. There is too few to start with and its expensive to get a lot of them. There's too few ways to get them for free. as of right now I own everything outside of excal prime access and have over 100 weapon slots, i think around 70-80 warframe slots, and I'm not too sure about companion slots but I would wager about 20+ and I haven't bought any since I got everything. But that shit takes a massive amount of time if you aren't paying for it. Note that I do buy every bundle they release, platinum or real money. Also, if you aren't already you should always grab any warframe/weapon twitch drops or alerts that happen for the free slot if you haven't been. Even I still do that lmao

I have a problem with people saying warframe is pay to win, because the concept of "winning" doesn't really apply to warframe, especially not in the endgame. You can pay to progress faster/easier but once you're in the endgame it's basically up to you to decide what you like doing. When new players say pay to win it bothers me because from a veteran perspective the whole argument is kinda pointless

I'm $1200 in but ive been playing jeez... 11 years now i guess. nope, not pay to win, its pay to skip the grind. I'm 32 now, a landlord, a contractor, I just don't have time anymore, but I do have money, and I still love this game. So sometimes I buy the big plat packs and just skip the grind.

i as a Veteran of 6 Years with Several of Thousands of Hours Across PC, Playstation and Switch, can tell you, that the Game is Absolutely P2W. but who Cares in a Game where you can get Absolutely Everything except of Some Cosmetics for Free just by Playing. and in Addition to that, there is no real Unfairness towards other Players when you buy all your Gear and Mods and etc. I would Argue that it is even the Other way around. since if you want to play Steel Path for Exaple, you have to Play each Mission of the Whole Star Chart. and you could easily Carry up to 3 Friends or Randoms with you if y,all aren,t Experienced. an Experienced Player wouldn,t have Problems playing through the Star Chart anyways. so all in all. if you buy gear to be good at the Game, Everyone has something from you gearing up. so yeah P2W but Absolutely not Unfair.

p2w my ass, you could buy EVERYTHING, even a max account and still sucks, NOTHING except some estetics is blocked by a paywall, you can skip some grind and buy stuff with platinum sure, but still what matters is the player skill and understanding of the mechanics, i'm a mr30 L4 with ALL equip, and never spent a cent in platinum, and i have almost all estetics that cost platinum too, just farm and trade stuff is not hard, what a P2W game? go play rise of kingdoms or infinity kingdom or some of that shit where a whale can kick you ass all the time, OR shut up farm and sell stuff, and if you still suck after buying stuff get gud and quit complaining that is 100% skill issue, you dont even need expensive stuff to do all the game, even the base weapons modded good can kill anything, ffs there are mr8 destroyng SP level cap

Ok we need to clarify something. Definition to be exact. You cannot start by saying "its absolutely P2W" and then procede to explain why it isnt. "(P2W) is a business model used in video games where players can pay real-world money to *gain an advantage over other players* . This can include access to better equipment, items, or features *not available to players who do not pay* . We can also expand this definition to "if chance of getting better eq is extremely low or it is limited by time in any way then it is also a P2W. Bc someone could make arguiment that Genshin isnt P2W. But in reality it is imposible to get best EQ and characters without spending money. So based on this definition warframe never be a pay2win bc even if some upgrades are behind paywall... YOU CAN GET PLATINUM FOR FREE. From other playes. Community and this system itself prevents this from being p2w.

It might just be me but I feel like a ptw game gives a player no chance to get to a certain point (or not getting stomped into the ground w a pvp game) without paying. I don't see that in Warframe, while I do see your point with the slots there are ways to get them without paying. Like you, I think Warframe is such a good game I just don't care to spend a bit on it.

Funny story about this game. At some point, long ago, they decided to add a certain item in the shop. It was a loot box. I can't remember what you could get out of it, but only a few weeks later, it got removed with D.E. stating that they didn't like how this was basically gambling. The F2P game that saw loot boxes, tried them and actually realized how bad they were for the consumers and did something about it. They aren't perfect, but they definitely care about their player base and the game. And that's the whole reason that game is still thriving 10 years later. :D

Yeah back when kubrows first came out you could pay 10 plat to randomize the fur pattern which could be traded to other players. Someone rerolled ~200 times and DE was like wtf and removed it because it was a slot machine.

if you think this game is pay to win, you're wrong by a mile away. because anyone can buy plat with real money and get things yeah, but buying from the actual shop is over priced for a reason compared to buying primes because you still need to grind mr. and every single warframe player that actually plays the game knows how easy it is to farm plat and can easily farm plat in the matter of 2 to 3 days if they focus selling big items ect... i'm mr 30, this isn't the same as the black desert online talk, bdo is defently pay to win because it allows for people to instantly skip tons of area's, warframe nah you gotta go through all the relays, all the planets to unlock steelpath, and you have to do all the major stories and warframe quests. so by the time you're done all of that you're defently already past the noobie player stage but you're still consider'd new to the game until past mr 20. New players think it's pay to win because they don't understand or want to farm plat, for my 1st 3 years of playing the game without paying i had so many relics that i couldn't finish them even if i wanted to xD plat saves time, but nowhere as bad as bdo, you're special if you think this games pay to win, it's most likely because you know nothing about the game.

just a bait video, short answer is no. from a vet. if you have friends who play this game, just ask them for spare mods and boom you're able to do the normal star chart just fine, and if you're feeling frisky the jade warframe can easily play steel path star chart with hardly any modding, don't even need to subsume anything onto it.

slots are not plat only nightwave gives multiple on early ranks and there are some other ways ive gotten them that i forgot slots are a huge problem for early game players and it combined with the mobile game tier crafting timers makes a lot of them just quit

i guess it depends on how you define winning, sure you can pay your way out of having to play the game.
i dont get how you can call this pay2win. buying things faster or rush builds doesnt make you stronger at all, you dont get stronger as anyone putting in some time, it is pay 2 play faster at most. i dont get this yearlong discussion
The only exception I can think of is actually buying plat, then scooping up primed mods. You skipped the endo farm, you skipped wait time for Baro to have it, and you skipped needing ducats. Mods are both how someone could see the game being p2w and how they can make their plat to keep their f2p lifestyle going.
Ngl p2w is honestly detrimental to the journey imo. It’s also more pay. You’d have to really have money like that to full dive into it. You’ll notice that some things are outright overpriced. Going off memory here but buying 1000 endo on the market goes for like 80 plat. Meanwhile you can 3 times that from trading with a player for sometimes less than 5p or just running a bunch of missions and progressing. Sure DE could be doing this to take advantage of anyone willing to pay like that. I personally think it’s to drive away people who would p2w. Could be both bc like u said they do need their money but yeah. I also don’t think a game is p2w, at least not in the way that other games can be, unless you’re required to pay to be good at or really enjoy the game. The elements definitely are there though
yeah the ingame market is stitched up, but the player one is usually friendly (using market, trade chat a scam)
You are definitely paying for it.... but are you winning though. Going in without understanding the mechanics, no amount of paying would make you winning. In my opinion, the game monetary system is still acceptable, even though it is definitely p2w. I have bought a few prime access from time to time, but definitely not regretting the purchase since I like the frame and dont want to grind for it.
I'm a Veteran of 8 years with almost 6k hours in mission time, I have never seen this game as p2w. The only issue I ever had early on was slots of any kind. There is too few to start with and its expensive to get a lot of them. There's too few ways to get them for free. as of right now I own everything outside of excal prime access and have over 100 weapon slots, i think around 70-80 warframe slots, and I'm not too sure about companion slots but I would wager about 20+ and I haven't bought any since I got everything. But that shit takes a massive amount of time if you aren't paying for it. Note that I do buy every bundle they release, platinum or real money. Also, if you aren't already you should always grab any warframe/weapon twitch drops or alerts that happen for the free slot if you haven't been. Even I still do that lmao

Winning is subjective to people. But as said in the video weather you want to say pay 2 win, pay 2 skip, pay 2 progress or even pay 2 win. Everything can be farmed and prem currency can be earnt very well :)
I have a problem with people saying warframe is pay to win, because the concept of "winning" doesn't really apply to warframe, especially not in the endgame. You can pay to progress faster/easier but once you're in the endgame it's basically up to you to decide what you like doing. When new players say pay to win it bothers me because from a veteran perspective the whole argument is kinda pointless
The winning aspect is subjective ofc. I think the discussion is important for new people, and having veterans + new players discuss it only helps the game. As any new player may see all the options costing plat and starting writing it off instantly, where as a discussion much like this just shows you how little you have to spend to progress and have fun!
I'm $1200 in but ive been playing jeez... 11 years now i guess. nope, not pay to win, its pay to skip the grind. I'm 32 now, a landlord, a contractor, I just don't have time anymore, but I do have money, and I still love this game. So sometimes I buy the big plat packs and just skip the grind.

i as a Veteran of 6 Years with Several of Thousands of Hours Across PC, Playstation and Switch, can tell you, that the Game is Absolutely P2W. but who Cares in a Game where you can get Absolutely Everything except of Some Cosmetics for Free just by Playing. and in Addition to that, there is no real Unfairness towards other Players when you buy all your Gear and Mods and etc. I would Argue that it is even the Other way around. since if you want to play Steel Path for Exaple, you have to Play each Mission of the Whole Star Chart. and you could easily Carry up to 3 Friends or Randoms with you if y,all aren,t Experienced. an Experienced Player wouldn,t have Problems playing through the Star Chart anyways. so all in all. if you buy gear to be good at the Game, Everyone has something from you gearing up. so yeah P2W but Absolutely not Unfair.
p2w my ass, you could buy EVERYTHING, even a max account and still sucks, NOTHING except some estetics is blocked by a paywall, you can skip some grind and buy stuff with platinum sure, but still what matters is the player skill and understanding of the mechanics, i'm a mr30 L4 with ALL equip, and never spent a cent in platinum, and i have almost all estetics that cost platinum too, just farm and trade stuff is not hard, what a P2W game? go play rise of kingdoms or infinity kingdom or some of that shit where a whale can kick you ass all the time, OR shut up farm and sell stuff, and if you still suck after buying stuff get gud and quit complaining that is 100% skill issue, you dont even need expensive stuff to do all the game, even the base weapons modded good can kill anything, ffs there are mr8 destroyng SP level cap

But it still is P2W as in you can Pay to get gud but there won‘t be anything Unfair about it. P2W means literally Paying to be Better. And you can Absolutely do that in Warframe. Ofcourse it still comes down to Knowledge and an Experienced Player will always have advantages.

Ok we need to clarify something. Definition to be exact. You cannot start by saying "its absolutely P2W" and then procede to explain why it isnt. "(P2W) is a business model used in video games where players can pay real-world money to *gain an advantage over other players* . This can include access to better equipment, items, or features *not available to players who do not pay* . We can also expand this definition to "if chance of getting better eq is extremely low or it is limited by time in any way then it is also a P2W. Bc someone could make arguiment that Genshin isnt P2W. But in reality it is imposible to get best EQ and characters without spending money. So based on this definition warframe never be a pay2win bc even if some upgrades are behind paywall... YOU CAN GET PLATINUM FOR FREE. From other playes. Community and this system itself prevents this from being p2w.

Pro tip, get syndicates as steel meridian, red veil etc at max rank and standing, wait for prime access, buy a lot of relic packs to get the new prime frame ones and solo farm it. Easy 250-300pl in 1 hour

I played ArcheAge 😑if u kno u kno... I just bought plat for the first time today because of a 75% discount and I honestly want to support such a wonderful game. It might just be me but I feel like a ptw game gives a player no chance to get to a certain point (or not getting stomped into the ground w a pvp game) without paying. I don't see that in Warframe, while I do see your point with the slots there are ways to get them without paying. Like you, I think Warframe is such a good game I just don't care to spend a bit on it.
Funny story about this game. At some point, long ago, they decided to add a certain item in the shop. It was a loot box. I can't remember what you could get out of it, but only a few weeks later, it got removed with D.E. stating that they didn't like how this was basically gambling. The F2P game that saw loot boxes, tried them and actually realized how bad they were for the consumers and did something about it. They aren't perfect, but they definitely care about their player base and the game. And that's the whole reason that game is still thriving 10 years later. :D
Yeah back when kubrows first came out you could pay 10 plat to randomize the fur pattern which could be traded to other players. Someone rerolled ~200 times and DE was like wtf and removed it because it was a slot machine.

if you think this game is pay to win, you're wrong by a mile away. because anyone can buy plat with real money and get things yeah, but buying from the actual shop is over priced for a reason compared to buying primes because you still need to grind mr. and every single warframe player that actually plays the game knows how easy it is to farm plat and can easily farm plat in the matter of 2 to 3 days if they focus selling big items ect... i'm mr 30, this isn't the same as the black desert online talk, bdo is defently pay to win because it allows for people to instantly skip tons of area's, warframe nah you gotta go through all the relays, all the planets to unlock steelpath, and you have to do all the major stories and warframe quests. so by the time you're done all of that you're defently already past the noobie player stage but you're still consider'd new to the game until past mr 20. New players think it's pay to win because they don't understand or want to farm plat, for my 1st 3 years of playing the game without paying i had so many relics that i couldn't finish them even if i wanted to xD plat saves time, but nowhere as bad as bdo, you're special if you think this games pay to win, it's most likely because you know nothing about the game.
just a bait video, short answer is no. from a vet. if you have friends who play this game, just ask them for spare mods and boom you're able to do the normal star chart just fine, and if you're feeling frisky the jade warframe can easily play steel path star chart with hardly any modding, don't even need to subsume anything onto it.

slots are not plat only nightwave gives multiple on early ranks and there are some other ways ive gotten them that i forgot slots are a huge problem for early game players and it combined with the mobile game tier crafting timers makes a lot of them just quit
Well, as everyone was once a new player (duh), My experience went from "bruh everything costs platinum" (before I realized that you can buy blueprints), To buying plat everytime i got a discount, yet idk what i want to buy or if I want to buy anything at all. Devs deserve all the support they get.
The game is pay2win, which would be a problem if the game was PVP centric or if you couldnt trade for plat.

A serious pain in the butt to get. LOOKING AT YOU VOIDRIG!!! The real time sink is in putting formas into stuff and farming materials. And plat doesn't do squat for that... Sides from resource boosters. XD
