Being a disabled person with limited finger dexterity, I love the fill probes. I can’t possibly do the quick disconnect. You have to be aware that there are other types of people that shoot these things.

Absolutely amazing! Dude you have provided an entirely new perspective on the full probe situation. So you can’t easily enjoy the likes of many Daystate or FX airguns. Now I am curious if there is an aftermarket workaround for rifles that rely on the quick disconnect. While a minority, you certainly cannot be the only one. Next time I come across a full probe I will have to try to remember this and share. Again thank you for sharing and keep enjoying those airguns.

It is only 850 psi but to be .46 caliber it only produces around 90 or so fpe, and that's shooting a relatively heavy projectile. These days with .45 at 4500 psi we are seeing 600-700 fpe. That's the difference, and that thing only shoots about 500 fps according to the one Shooter1721 shot, so for the 1800s, that was awesome, but by today's standards, it's not a lot. I would still love to have that in my collection, but I can't afford it.

  • @BBSportinggoods

Top speed recorded out of this gun so far as been 598 FPS using a LabRadar. It is the same gun Rick and Rich shot. It is exactly like the original gun, including a leather valve stem seal and horn gasket. Martin Orro built a gun, modified valve and modern materials. His gun is a .45 and it would reach in the 700fps range. They may not be as fast as some modern big bores... but you also can't whip off 20 plus shots with them without reloading or using such low pressures. It was a gun designed for war. I would venture to say, even if you could use a modern vs Girandoni gun in the late 1700's. The Girandoni would be superior due to the magazine capacity, shot count, and the ability to actually pump the airtank.
