The Agility is going to come in a variety of calibers including .177, .22, .25 and .30 as well as two different lengths. The long version is slated to have a 22 inch barrel with the short version being 4 inches shorter at 18 inches. Speaking of the barrel, Macavity has selected choked, shrouded and tensioned barrels with 1/2x20 threaded muzzle for the included moderator. That is correct, they have included a moderator too! Although I found my example to be more accurate when it was unmoderated. The one we have in-studio is the long version in .22 caliber.
Functionally we have AR-15 furniture and I have to say I absolutely love the rubberized grip as well as the picatinny scope and accessory rails. The adjustable shoulder stock is nice, but found the one on the prototype to have a little play that I didn’t like (of course we change that down the road if desired). The side lever is surprisingly smooth and since they package 3 rotary magazines you will be able to spend more time slinging lead each time you sit down at the bench. Hopefully other manufactures are taking note and packaging additional mags with their new products too!
The Agility is completely adjustable, coming with both a regulator and hammer spring in the back. This is one point where we might see some changes and I will touch on these at the very end of the video.
I was pretty happy with the adjustable 2-stage trigger package that comes on this. Although out of the box it was not set well. After a relatively quick adjustment I was able to get it down to an average pull weight of 15.17oz on five trials. With a little knowledge and work, I would imagine we could improve on this slightly for those so inclined.
Filling this airgun is super simple as it has a quick disconnect (Hurray for no fill probes!). The cylinder size is nice for a small compressor coming in at 267cc for the long version and 196 cc with the shorter one.
Chronograph testing shows that the long version in .22 caliber will get you 95 shots out of the 267cc tank. You can check out the chronograph data for yourself right over here. Over that 95 shots, you will notice that there is average velocity of 916 FPS using 14.35 JSB pellets, with a standard deviation of 5.9 FPS. Not too bad for an airgun that is supposed to come in at under $500.

I've had my .25 long barrel version since last Friday. After putting about 200 shots through it I feel it was definitely worth the $290 I paid for it in Macavity's sale of the Genesis pre-production models. I did replace the moderator with a baffled one that I 3D printed. It is much quiter with the loud pop removed. Groups of 5 shots at 50 yards are consistently within 3/4". Need to decide how to modify the moderator that came with the rifle for the best results.

I can see already that a very secure barrel band will be a great addition for this model.

Might help. I have also seen barrel bands do nothing for accuracy. May help with poi shifts if bumped in the woods?

My biggest complaint with the gun is that flimsy pic rail under the forend, using a bipod on its near worthless. I think if they fix that its a fairly decent gun for the price. Nice video Chad 👍

100% decent for the money. Agree on the stock, but the lines of this platform really do look good. Hopefully I will be able to do a follow up on the production model.

@@Moses1973 It's been crickets from them on when I can expect a production model. In my opinion sending out a bunch of pre-production versions is kind of a waste of time for everyone. Even if I got one now it would take many weeks to produce a worthwhile review.

Nice results from this prototype. After Cattleman and other "New" startups. i'll wait to see many reviews before I buy. Plus going up against the pricepoint leaders like; AvengX, JTS, and Gauntlets will be tough to do.7

Hey Chad! How did you adjust the hammer spring on the prototype model? I have the same one but didn't wanna mess with it. Wasn't sure if it was the central silver allen bolt or the black wheel thingie. Let me know, man!

  • @AirgunAdvisor

There is a set screw on the side of the action that locks that silver wheel down. Loosen it, then adjust by turning the silver wheel left or right. Did you clean the barrel of yours? Mine was crazy dirty.

you asked what I thought about it well I think it's a nice looking and I think it's probably going to be a good shooting gun but I think air gun company will probably be a fly by night company like Dar and other companies and fade away after one or two models.🤷‍♂️

Flimsly pic rail and let’s be honest. Those groups were pretty bad. Other price point guns such as avenger and Airacuda blow that performance away. However it is one sample. Other calibers I have seen on KZread from macavity do better.
