I think many Asian cultures called it an alien eggplant because the native eggplants (also known as thorn eggplant or bitter eggplant) are often small, rounded/egg-shaped. An unripe tomato looks a lot like an unripe bitter eggplant. Even today, the most commonly available variety of tomato in India is an egg-shaped one, not the round heirloom ones. That's what I think at least, haha.

I assume there are lots of varieties of eggplant in China and maybe some were more shaped like a tomato.

America beginning with Mexico down south including central america belongs with south america, not with north america. Even many mexicans call united states of american populations north americans, so even they don't consider themselves north americans. So, i take them at their word. Also, the culture is just so different between canada & usa which are similar vs mexico with several central & south american nations which are more similar. Mexico & central america (latin america) should be the same color as south america, not north america. Also, several business mention usa & Canada, but never mention Mexico or any other central american nation.

Ok, that explains alot! Neither right or wrong. My son say's Europe is a continent, I say no, it's Asia (Eurasia?). Sep by water mass and prior techtonic plates (India was, then smashed into Asia). In the end, it is "ones" perception, neither right or wrong. :)

Great video, I grew up with the 7 continent model but I like these better: - 6 continent model #2 - I've always found the Europe-Asia border to be unsatisfying geographically. -5 Continent Model #2- Not mentioned in the video, (Africa, Eurasia, Oceania, America, Antarctica). I like this model because it condenses both the Americas and Eurasia (which each of the 6 continent models selectively do). The problem that makes it hard for me to fully commit to this is that I feel like if we combine the Americas due to panama isthmus, then why aren't we combining Africa to Eurasia due to the Sinai isthmus. -4 Continent Model- I find this one really appealing in that it sticks to one defining characteristic (A huge landmass) and just rides it out. Only problem is that Afroeurasia is so BIG. In general I like the idea of restricting the term continent to a purely physical geography concept, where continents are mutually exclusive landmasses that divide up the world. This doesn't remove all arbitrarness (how big for a landmass to be a continent) but does limit it. I think cultural boundaries are already much better described by Regions like "The Middle East", "The Anglosphere", "Latin America" etc. These commonly overlap because culture is much more amorphous and most people identify with more than one group (be it a linguistic group, religious group, political group etc).

As somebody from western Mexico. The day of the dead was just a catholic celebration. We would just clean the graves and put new flowers and have a mass in the aftenoon in the cementary. We do not believe souls come back to life nor anything remotely like that. Just a day in the calender to clean the cementary and remember those who have pass away. That is all.

That's why I dislike people, especially Italians, being so grossed out in adding new ingredients to their "traditional food". Italians/Europeans (other colonizers) were only able to make these so called traditional food after they pillaged weaker peoples. Without their spices, Imagine how bland is European food. So stop food shaming. Ingredients are widely globally available nowadays, it would be a shame not to use them. Pineapple in pizza? I may not like it, but Im loving the creativity and diversity of human culture. Oh btw, regarding the eggplant. Some eggplants are shaped like an egg (same shape as tomatoes). Im assuming that's where it gets its name from.

I'm from Romania (Eastern Europe) and we don't go by the "6 but different" model. We are taught in school that there are 7 continents. North America, South (Latin) America, Europe that is linked to Asia, but there are 2 different continents, not one, because they are divided by an invisible line, Africa, Australia (yes, not Oceania, but Australia) and then Antarctica, which most of people even forget that it exists, but we know there are 7 of them. So yeah, North America, South America, Europe, Asia, Africa, Australia and Antarctica, exactly 7, and this is taught in school throughout the entire country. I don't know about the other Eastern European countries out there (if any fellow Eastern Europeans see this comment, let me know about your country), but here in Romania, we are taught that there are 7 of them. What we are confused about is if The Arabian peninsula is part of Africa or Asia or both. Some say it's part of Africa, others say it's part of Asia, others say it's part of both, and others say it's it's own thing. I personally like the thought of Afroeurasia, The Americas (as one continent), Oceania and Antarctica, so, yeah, the idea of only 4 continents existing, because basically a continent needs to be divided by a big ocean. But that's just my opinion, which doesn't really matter or change anything. And by the way, the map we all know is actually wrong, because Greenland is not actually as big as is depicted and it's roughly the same size as Madagascar or maybe a bit larger (correct me if I'm wrong, cuz I might be), but not the same size as Africa, or larger than Australia. This map tends to shrink everything in the middle and enlarge everything in the upper and lower parts. That's why Greenland and Africa appear to have roughly the same size, while in reality, Greenland is smaller than even some African countries. If we look at Greenland, it's larger than South America, Africa and Australia, but in reality is much smaller than all 3 of them, that's why is an island and not a continent in it's own. Anyway, this was my ranting, if you read till the end, thanks for listening haha, have a nice day!
