The Fumoto Valve is what I use to drain oil on my 06 STI, Game changer. Keep in mind, Even though the 13b has it in an awkward position, in the event you overfill you can still drain by its easy lever mechanism for correct oil levels. Keep the content coming, amazing condition!

I dont’t think your oil leak was due to high G because I think it was very low G. Usually oil leak at intake is from crankcase ventilation. You might need oil catch can to monitor the amount of oil. If too high, your engine seals might be done causing combustion pressure leak too much into crankcase pressure. But if you think it is from high G, u might need to monitor oil pressure gauge while cornering, not recommend, to prevent oil starvation. I still prefer RX-8 because I can beat the shxt out of it and the rear still grip while i can oversteer on demand. I would love to own FC or FD but not as a track car.
@alphadriver284027 күн бұрын
I covered both of these as contributing factors.. likely that it became overfilled due to heat + pressure, given the oil was on the 'F' mark prior, having spoken to others about this recently, it's recommended to have the oil at half way or just below on the dip stick for circuit application. A catch can will remedy the issue & it's something I'm looking into currently. You need to remember that the FD has won multiple 12-24 hour races internationally in factory trim, including here in Aus.. the sump is equipped with internal baffles.. so whilst oil starvation is something to address for any circuit car, I don't think its of huge concern at this point based on experiences of others. The RX8 is a balanced car no doubt.. with the only disadvantages being that it's on the heavier side + it's underpowered, but hey.. each to their own.
@callmeedaddy27 күн бұрын
@@alphadriver2840 You also have to take account of that rotary burn oil via OMP and during track day they burn a lot like 200-400ml per 30 mins (depend on OMP tuning). I used to keep oil level just under F because they coming down fast to prevent oil starvation and OMP starvation. But now I use SOHN adaptor so I can directly monitor OMP consumption and not confusing with oil leak. If your setting be oil level at mid, you might have to top up that oil more often.
@alphadriver284027 күн бұрын
If by burn, you mean consumes.. then yes the OMP injects some oil into the engine but it's minimal & not reflective of the issue I explained. I haven't changed any of the OMP settings & don't intend to given the current mild/basic set up. Also, the car doesn't suffer from any form of engine (or other components) oil leaks, so there isn't any confusion about what is being consumed &/or being leaked. Blow by is quite common for any engine that sees track use (not exclusive to rotaries) it's not a complicated issue to resolve, so I'm not over thinking things. Appreciate the advice though!

@alphadriver2840Ай бұрын
Thanks! as mentioned it was a clean foundation to begin with, I guess you can say that I've enhanced it. Re fuel efficiency..to be honest, I've never measured it in any of my sports cars.. simply because for me, it defeats the purpose of owning and truly enjoying a sports car. In saying that, I would say it drives like any other car.. dare I say even naturally aspirated cars.. that is, IF you drive in such a way where turbo's are not coming into boost, you can drive for quite a while on a single tank. On the contrary.. with a heavy foot, not so great.. but that goes with any turbo car. I believe it's a 70-ish L tank. The engine is stock other than mods mentioned + very slight boost up to 12 psi (from 10psi). It's not ported. I did forget to mention that it has an uprated Raceworks fuel pump which is e85 compatible.

@alphadriver28403 жыл бұрын
Honestly it all depends on your circumstances, preferences & budget. I found that in order to extract the most out of track driving, you need a reliable and purposeful car that is set up for it. To drive on the limits means you will inevitably make mistakes & come off.. maybe even damage the car, so the question here is how hard do you want to drive it. The second is track day consumables (running costs), you'll find most people tend to choose a light weight car (sub 1200kg), not only is it advantageous for tyre and brake pad wear, but as far as driving style/feel is concerned you can certainly carry more speed into corners with a lighter car, for that go kart like feeling - it's the most fun. Whereas if you took your GTR out, sure you'll get some great times/straight line speed, but what do ongoing costs look like.. will you be paranoid/fearful to really drive it hard.. what if you put it into a barrier etc. The civic is certainly capable, pretty quick cars with some development.. whereas the mx5 is all about corners and braking, its extremely fun with a natural turn in and 50/50 weight distribution..not to mention cheap. Perhaps drive both and go for what gives you the most thrill.
