    This is a not so good crevasse Rescue video! What the fµ^% moments: 1 - At 10:49, he completely detached himself out of the system. THIS IS NEVER DONE! In case the anchor fails, or in case he himself breaks true the same or other crack... We never leave the system unless we have to save ourselves from dead... 2 - AT 2:59, assembling the snow picket is cumbersome. This can be faster, preinstalled or with an carabiner. Taking of gloves might not be possible in bellow freezing temperatures + wind... 3 - At 10:00 The 3rd repositioning closer to the anchor makes no valuable action. He is still 2 meters away from the anchor. The extra carabiner installed to hold the 3rd person in case the prussik on the anchor slips, is questionable... instead of using a prussik it is much better to use a clove hitch into a central anchor carabiner. This one will not slip and wil be used with the main rope, thicker rope = stronger... The 3rd person in fact becomes the rescuer, the 2nd Who build the anchor, goes sit on top of the anchor. Both are always into the system!!! 4 - AT 21:07 He tells the 3rd person to feel free to get out of the system, if he feels save... This is really not done! At the same time, look how messed up system it is. Number 2 leaves a pulley for number 3... The messy coils number 3 has... 5 - AT 22:13 Number 2 went to the edge of the crevasse. Leaves his ice axe behind... in case the edge breaks, bye bye ice Axe... it was better used as an anchor... For no reason, he also advises to use a clove hitch behind the prussik. 6 - AT 28:20 Number 3 magically was on top of the anchor. Like it felt natural to him to be there... 7 - AT 29:50 He advises to use a ladder or other pulley techniques to get the victim over the lid... A ladder will only be another cumbersome tool that has it's weight... I forgot to mention "selfresque". Getting over the lid with "Munchhausen" Technique is a must to learn/teach. Other thougts: For building anchors, snow pickets are not necessarily better than Ice axes. Because Icer Axes were build to be used for Crevasse Rescue as a T-anchor. Saves you 350 to 500gr. We live in the age of Petzl Crevasse Rescue: Tibloc + Pulley + Microtraction.

    Growing up a Patriots fan helped me leave sports. They won 6 Super Bowl games, more than most fans will ever see in their lifetime, and what does it mean? Nothing. You have to win it again next year. It made me realize that I got my value from sports and no matter what, sports left me empty.

    It looks like, ultimately, the entire load was being held by that one prusik. Is that best practice? What about transferring the load onto a knot loop on a bight that you pre-tied between you and the prusik? Shouldn't the prusik be a backup?

    I was never faking it I love sports. But I’m almost 30 now and for me I realized Sports are for kids and people who have enough free time to truly enjoy it. If I want to do music or actually work for myself. How the fuck will watching lebron even though he’s my favorite player for two hours accomplish my goals. I want to be in the same rooms as the people I admired as a kid I don’t wanna be 50 years old talking about why lebron was better than jordan and I didn’t accomplish my goals in my life. Sports is a distraction from our day in day out lives. Just like people who watch anime. People who watch Netflix shows etc all of these things are distracting us from our true goals in life

    How durable is the board? Could it be used in terrain parks to go off rails and jumps? Also, can you use the skis to go downhill?

  • @JonathanRonzio
    @JonathanRonzio Жыл бұрын

    When you’re touring, if there is a slight hill descent you can stay in ski mode before flattening out to ascend again but it’s super awkward and I wouldn’t recommend trying to legit ski on a split board haha. I’m sure you could hit jumps and rails with it, it’s pretty stable at high speed on chatter and takes cliff drops well, but it just wouldn’t be ideal to use a split in the park

    Well I like playing sports, I was even a very good goalie for lacrosse, and captain for wrestling but I don’t like watching sports especially team sports, it’s tiring to follow through because I know what’s gonna happen and the things that gonna happen is pretty similar 😅 But I would watch MMA because it is more personal. Part of reason I don’t like watching team sports is that it is too time consuming. Maybe I am a very creative person so I don’t like the same things happening over and over again. No offense to any sports fan. I was a lax goalie and very sportsy guy, just not a fan of watching sports.

    I believe people are taught to like sports from a young age and they don't have time to admit that they are faking it when around others. i believe people are faking it half the time cause there's no way that watching the games is really that interesting especially if you don't actually play sports themselves.

    I grew up in Texas during the Aikman dynasty and down here people practically raised kids to follow teams like Uni of Texas, A&M, Texas Tech, Baylor, Dallas Cowboys, Houston Oilers and now the Houston Texans. Growing up I had Texas teams/schools shoved down my throat so much by people making the most ridiculous statements practically saying that I 'have' to follow those teams/sports because I'm a Texan. Eventually I just moved on with my life and quietly faded in the background of their shenanigans and just gave up watching sports all together (other than hockey).

    Not a long trek! I don't remember exactly but maybe 45 up the hill? I don't know if there is a name, but I was staying at the Royal Myconian and you basically just go left from the hotel and walk up the hill/road until it becomes a dirt road and keep going till you crest on top of the island and see over the other side. If you search on Google Maps you can see what I'm talking about with the hill that's kind of on the peninsula below that hotel

    Here on Super Bowl Sunday, near the time of kickoff, I got curious and searched something like "why not to watch sports." I found this and thought I'd comment and throw in my own two cents. For me, I never watch sports alone unless it's boxing, which I do sometimes. Otherwise, I will very rarely ever watch sports by myself. I think I watched last year's SB by myself, but still, why don't I watch them religiously? I've realized that a big part of it has to do with the fact that I never became a high school or college athlete due to my family situation where my father didn't support me playing sports whatsoever. I have always resented that, and perhaps some sort of envy at least sometimes contributes to my lack of interest in watching other athletes who "made it." Secondly, aside from watching sports in a social setting, which I do enjoy, I don't feel that watching the game is that important, unless I'm going to be all into it. And I know that I am not going to dive in and be a hardcore enthusiast. I can tell you that the Rams are playing the Bengals today, and that I hope the underdog wins, but I don't know who the quarterbacks are, who any of the players are, etc. Now, the main concern for many, and I've been concerned about this myself, is that my ignorance in this sense will negatively affect business relationships that I have or that I want to develop more. Could my lack of interest in sports affect this? There's no way around the fact that it could. Plenty of people insist that people who don't watch sports are weird. Some partners in business could very well be that closeminded. However, I do think that the cases where an existing or potential business partner is turned off to the point of not wanting to do business with you due to this will be statistically in the minority. It is kind of like if you don't drink. As far as I'm concerned if a relationship cannot flourish because I'm not in the know when it comes to sports, then that's just destiny that we're not supposed to be cool. I do have some more points, but I won't go into anything else here. Do I have a lot of respect for athletes? Absolutely. The pros in any sport can really do some crazy things that statistically very few others ever can. Also, sports brings people together, and it perhaps most importantly teaches young participants what teamwork is, what it means to be a good sport, etc. Those are extremely valuable life lessons that people can get from these games of various athletic types. One last thing is that my father, perhaps when he came to his senses in terms of why sports are good, told me that sports allow humans to engage in their primal instinct to be at war. I don't know how true that is, but it certainly makes sense. We can liken these nutty fans who get all painted up to greatly nationalistic citizens of a country. The team members are the soldiers, and so on. You get the point. Anyhow, thanks for the video! Enjoy Super Bowl Sunday if you're watching right now. Go Bengals!
