Please Do Not cut it! Make a guide bushing and drill + ream the head instead. The longer shaft is twice the strengh of the short one. That's the reason it was bend on the first place .
I really appreciate that you share your knowledge !!!...thank you very much ...
This is a really helpful video. Thank you for sharing your amazing knowledge.
I don't understand driving the spindle down with a drawbar? How can a drawbar screw into the spindle with no collet installed? Would like to see a pic of this spindle arrangement. Same 7/16-20 tpi drawbar used for both collet and spindle? Thanks!
You are not screwing the drawbar into anything while doing this procedure. The drawbar is acting like a long punch for the spindle. If you have more questions you can give us a call 1-800-285-5271
Thank you guys for this video, only one on youtube. Currently trying to install a 150 we bought from you, and this helps a lot.
I'm working on a Prototrak DPM3 that has a head modeled after the Bridgeport 2J, and given that it is a 3-axis CNC I have a hard time thinking of a case where I would need to use the power downfeed. I'm always interested in finding ways to tidy machines up, and so it got me wondering if all the hardware associated with the power downfeed could be removed and whether the head would continue working well otherwise without it.
Ive watch theses guys for years they are very good if i need a my Bridgeport repaired it would definitely go to them 😊
Great video as always. Thanks for sharing your knowledge and time. 👍
How how do you that that apart?

I don’t understand how you arrived at .008 (unless I’m figuring my math wrong), I get .0112.
I have a 1978 Bridgeport that I believe the top end is locked up. What if I can’t get it turned down to the lowest speed before disassembly?
I've been watching your videos for a few weeks now. I'm in the process of repairing my step pulley J head. In appreciation for all your help - I decided to buy my parts from you. Thanks for your great videos. 👍
Thanks for your videos. You're making my Bridgeport Head repair much easier. Also like how you provide parts numbers, too.

A trick for getting the blind bearing out. Pack its hollow shaft with grease and reinsert the bull gear shaft. Try to seat it with an arbor, press, clamp, etc. The hydraulic force should push the bearing out.
Qual é o diametro externo desta polia????
Thanks for sharing your experience and no BS rebuild videos, Short, simple, to the point. Perfect.

H&W is a great company! Barry is the “bomb!” I called customer support and Barry got me up and running again with answers to my questions. I am amazed how helpful they are! Thanks very much!!!
I really appreciate all the information on working on the Bridgeport
Great information. Thanks for making and posting this!
Interesting about that wheel handle for the quill. My Bridgeport Series II Special has the exact same wheel on it. I found I really like it and how it never bashes me in the head. 😀 I thought mine was unique, but after seeing it on that machine, it makes me wonder if it wasn't some aftermarket product or something that went around on some BBS back in the day.
They are a neat design. The ones that we sell are made by a small company in MA.
Doing my pump tonight using the kit. Thanks for taking time to make all the great videos!
A demonstration of Y would be nice
Does anyone know the correct number of links in the speed adjust chain? I'm asking because the lowest spindle speed my machine will adjust to is 154 RPM, with the speed dial indicating that the lowest speed in low range should be 60RPM. Causing me to suspect that the chain may be too long, preventing the rocker plate from pulling the top half of the front pully down far enough to achieve minimum speed.
There should be 12 plus the master link.
@@HWMachRepair Thanks very much for the prompt reply. I'll check my machine for the correct number of links.
Because of this channel I completely over hauled our barely used ‘73 Bridgeport. I never knew I would have such interest in restoring machines like this. Thank you H&W!
Excellent! Helped a lot!
Thank you!
How did u know I needed that. Tried to use this Jet, Bridgeport knock off & the lever wouldn't engage. I searched H&W m/c repair & boom, this is the first video. Thanks Barry.
arg, you stopped before the downfeed clutch! :) how to adjust it, what to adjust it to, and how to _set_ that, and what to do if it won't hold 200lbs even when the spring is maxed out..... :)
If you look in the description box I posted two other videos that kind of go into that. Let me know if you have any other questions or give us a call and we can walk though it over the phone: 1-800-285-5271
