History X

History X

I enjoy digging into the secrets of history and World War Two that no one talks about. In fact, did you know.....

The US navy had two flying aircraft carriers?

During WW2 a private in the 101st airborne made beer runs for his wounded friends during the battle of Bastogne?

A fearless major strapped bazookas to his tiny fabric-covered Piper Cub airplane to take on six German Tiger tanks?

These WWII heroics fascinate me, and hopefully they will fascinate you as well!

Thank you for checking-out History X!

If someone could explain, I thought the alive people inside the titanic, when the ship was sinking, would implode.

Surely it has to be a combination of both. Either scenario means the shoes survived and both scenarios happened.

I go with Ballard's explanation. Wouldn't the bodies be crushed by the time they reached the bottom, therefore not being in a natural shape resulting in the shoes being at odd angles.

You have to keep in mind if you listened her said the bodies rained down to the ocean bottom and afterwords the animals ate their flesh off their bones and in some case I am sure some of their limbs were bitten off and deposited in a different area of the debris field when the animals dropped the appendages which would explain the different shoes next to each other. Just my 2 cents … 😎👍

It didn't "win" the war...that's TOTAL disrespect for the men and women that put their lives on the line for American citizens!! That included my father, who was a Combat Veteran with the US Army Air Force in the South Pacific Campaign on Guam, Tinian, Saipan and Iwo Jima. Maybe change your title to 'helped win'!!

Wow, that’s a stunningly over reactive response. OF COURSE the soldiers had to put in the work, but without their tools of war it would have been much harder than it was if not impossible. Cases can be made for the P-51, the M1 Garand, 03 Springfield, the Sherman tank and all sorts of other pieces of military hardware, and I’m only even mentioning the stuff produced by America. Obviously there were also other countries fighting against Germany, Italy and Japan… I have a great great uncle buried in North Africa and family who fought in most of the wars from WWII onwards. I don’t think highlighting a piece of hardware sullies any of their sacrifice or service…

Tbh, it could be a mix of both. Flat out, we don't know and will never know. However, science says that there COULD have been a few bodies that in fact reached the ocean floor, and that yes, Ballard is right to a degree -the bodies would have started sinking (I'd say over an hour to sink cus bodies need to let out gasses to sink in general) but science also says that no one will ever know for sure how many actually did. Titanic will always be a speculation of the intricate details, like clothing and such, but I agree more with Park. It's 2.5miles (4.02km) UNDER the sea. Water would have most DEFINITELY moved the luggage of passengers around and out as it sank, and she was quite filled with luggage and such.

Sixgills also deep ocean bottom feeders are not graceful eaters, so the bodies of dead whale and, in this case, a small human will get thrown around in-between bites.
