Great, passionate review! Thanks for sharing and spreading the word on this fantastic game!!
@@Anthem1018 Thank you, we appreciate the love brother! N
Nick is right, I very much enjoyed the play we had of this. Very impressed with my first play. - A
Whaaaa? No signs??????
@@eVanDiesel What a disaster. If I had any shame I’d delete this video immediately. N
Around 15:00 your rival should get 2 coins for placing a 6 on a 4 die location.
Architects of the West Kingdom is my favorite of this trilogy. I've had it for a couple years and more recently started playing with both of its expansion. Also, I just tried Paladins and Viscounts for the first time a few months ago. I got in a few plays of each, and I felt lukewarm about Paladins, but Viscounts was pretty fun.
Just bought for prime day - was on sale for $48! Excited to try it out
What a steal! Nice one! N
Fun set! More to come! 😊
@@eVanDiesel oh yes! I can’t wait. - A
I loved the story elements on the cards! I played it with someone I didn't even know and we laughed through the whole thing.
Thanks for the review! Enjoyed listening to your thoughts!
Interesting hearing your opinions on this.
As science teachers, Janell and I would like to try it, but based on this info and @evandiesel comments, we'll definitely try to play it before considering a purchase. Thanks for another great video 👍
If you’re ever back out this way, we’ll try to play it with you two. Assuming it’s still in our collection by then! Thanks for stopping in- have a great weekend and a happy 4th brother! N
For some reason your videos stopped showing up in my feed, but I went to your channel and found a few new ones to watch. Good selections and nice IU jacket 👍
Thank you Billy! Hope you’re doing well!! Our videos have been less frequent due to our schedules lately but we have several reviews we are currently working on. 🫡 N
whats your highest rated party game?
For me, it’s Wits n Wagers.. Crosstalk and Trapwords are a couple of my absolute favs as well! N
Salt and pepper! ❤
Sea Salt & Paper is amazing. Vick had the right score. Scoring is crazy, my buddy got 24 points in the first round once. It was insane. Everyone I've played with has wanted to get a copy.-M
It has been one of our fillers of choice! That and Sky Team! N
Looking forward to the review and a playthrough! Game looks great…some of the artwork though…very similar to Garphill Games…
Good call, same artist!
Nice unboxing video. Like the recessed boards and box inserts. Waiting for your review.
I like this format for smaller games. Keep em coming!
Thanks! If the views were better, we’d do this more often!
@@eNVyBoardGaming I noticed that. Bummer.
@@eNVyBoardGamingwhat if you broke them up like The Dice Tower does? Make 3 short videos instead of one?
this game looks a lot of fun! thanks for the upload
Thanks for checking it out. It’s a nice little filler game. - A
Hi! Thanks for the review! If I have neither the first game nor the expansion, wouldn't it be more convenient to just buy the Dino Dash expansion only?
You can do either since they are both stand alone games. I’m not sure how readily available the new Dodo Dash is available. It just depends on preference. - A
Great recommendations!
🤡
❤
Would you say it has some similarity to Foundations of Rome?
I do think there are some similarities. I think they both shine in very different areas. Where in FoR plots come available based on luck and you just might not get the plot you want because of it. However in Skyrise there is definitely some deeper strategy to where you want to bid and how high you are willing to go. -A
Thanks for sharing your review, glad you enjoyed Stonespine Architects!
Thanks for the playthrough! (I've been wanting to solo this for a while.) A question: At 38:09, you trigger the castle action. You spend two mother of pearl to move a courier up into the castle. You take the corresponding card and trigger the section that gives you two MOP to replace the ones you just spent. I thought your turn was over there. But then you move your courier up another level. Don't you need a castle action to move your courier again? I didn't think receiving MOP translates into getting a castle action; you're just receiving the resources. (This happened another time earlier in the game, so that's why I'm querying it. Want to make sure I'm playing the game correctly.)
Hey there James! Thanks for dropping by my friend! I watched the section you called out to see what happened in the game. When you do the castle action, you get two actions. While it’s more efficient to move up twice by spending 5 pearls (counts as only 1 of the two actions), I didn’t have the pearls to do that. I had two pearls, so I moved up once. When I moved up, I got two more pearls, so with my 2nd castle action I spent those to move up again. Hope that helps! N
@@eNVyBoardGaming I think the two actions in the Castle are 1) Requesting an audience (paying 2 coins to place a Courier at the Gate) and 2) Social Climbing (paying 2 or 5 MOP to move the Courier up in the Castle). Regarding the actions, the rulebook says you can take "either just one of them, or both once each, even using different Courier pieces." So if I'm not mistaken, I think you're allowed to do one of each action, but you can't do two Social Climbing actions during a single Castle move.
I’ll be honest, I’m not sure who is correct here, James. I’ve read that section in the rules over and over again and I can’t determine what they actually meant. The wording is so poor that I’m really questioning it. “Courtiers allow you to carry out up to two of these different actions:” So there I was thinking you’re right.. then it’s saying these are the two different actions “either just one of them, or both, one each.”.. then I think OK, I think I’m playing right. I did just one of them. So it depends if they mean, one of the choices is to do the same action or if they’re saying one action one time. I’m thinking you’re correct, though I could’ve sworn I’ve seen the official teach done and two couriers were purchased for 4 coins, which would violate that rule. Either way, great query, I’d like to know the correct answer, and if you’re correct, why would that be the design choice for that. Seems like a needless rule to me, but what do I know? N
@@eNVyBoardGamingthe wording on the English rules are pretty bad for this topic so I read in Portuguese and Spanish where it is super clear that you can only take each action once. Congrats for the gameplay, it as really nice to watch
@@keshavjee1977 thank you for that information!! N
put a gold on wind up man >:C or a pearl
Lockup (+Breakout expansion) is the best game in this world, followed by Goblin Vaults then Stonespine Architects. When adding in the expansion and sleeving all the cards, the box for this is perfect. Has the best insert I've ever experienced in gaming.
Would love to know if youve had the chance to plag Medieval Academy and what you thought of it in comparison to Hadara as they are the same with the drafting and racing in the field of your choice but with a few small differences mainly the theme.
Hey Naru, I haven't played MA -- and older game that this does kind of remind me of in ways is St. Petersburg. Not the same, but similar! N
@@eNVyBoardGaming thanks for the response =)
Lock up and Goblin Vaults are also in that universe. I have everything but Adventures.-M
I would like to try Adventures even though I haven’t played original Role Player. - A
@eNVyBoardGaming I want to get it but it's just so expensive. -M
I think the cover art is evocative! There’s a minotaur and a construction crew so you’re presumably building his labyrinth. The stonespine thing is not evocative of anything for me though. It sounds like something from a roleplaying game. Thank you for the review.
Thanks for stopping by! - A
You're not wrong - Stonespine Mountains is the name of a location in the World of Ulos in which our games take place. It's mentioned extensively in Roll Player Adventures, our campaign story-driven board game. :)
I mostly agree with you. It's lucky (dice rolls without very much mitigation and many random card draws), its long (our first 3 player game took 3 hours to teach and play!), its unbalanced (some of those items were borderline game breaking). But dang it, we had fun! We REALLY enjoyed the wacky story events and enjoyed reading and laughing at them even when they burned us. Those made it for us! We did get the deluxe with the expansions and it at least doubles all the card piles. It's not going to be a game we are going to play very often, but it's so beautiful and still FUN! (Fun enough anyway). I'd probably round up to a 7. Also, we really hated the take-that type cards and buried them at the bottom of the deck when we drew one.
Nice! We missed out on the story events portion that you enjoyed. When we played it wasn’t too long, I tended to rush game end with reputation thanks to some items and those other feature cards that got you additional rep. Plus, as I said, we weren’t reading the story stuff on events either. We didn’t get any use out of the “take that cards” either. They’d actually help your opponent typically as they’d simply turn those into positive points with a feature. N
@eNVyBoardGaming we came across one that was something like "steal a plant from the person on your right's warden case". And we were like....nah.
I have beem thinking about adding metallic gold highlights to the buildings (the edges maybe) with a metallic gold marker, but I am scared of messing it up lol
That’s a good idea. I unfortunately don’t have a steady hand and would definitely mess it up 😂 A
I wonder how they would look just dry brushing it with metallic gold.@@eNVyBoardGaming
Maybe house rule having the panorama cards as your secret objectives? Lol
So glad to see you both enjoyed it. Cracked open my copy to inspect, but haven't played a game yet.
excellent overview. thanks!
Thank you! Do you have a favorite of the trilogy? -A
@@eNVyBoardGaming I've only played Tikal, so that would be it.
Great unboxing! I appreciate it, looks great!
Haven't played hardly any this year ☹ New to me game i am learning presently is Deus.Mainly because i keep tripping over it in my games room. Just shows if you haven't a games group anymore you are stumped. Plus if you mention you into board games to a girl you get the feeling it ain't gonna' be your night. Then again maybe it's just me 🤪 Nick, keep hold of Vik,she's a keeper.
Haha, thanks Dan! Hey, I just bought Deus yesterday because it was marked down to like $10 US. Do you have Facebook? I met several people through the marketplace buying/selling games. That’s actually how we met Andrew & Sam too! N
@@eNVyBoardGaming Let me know what you think of Deus? I like that you can use tiles differently each time although not sure if that changes too much.Finding the rule book a bit challenging in places, maybe i need to concentrate better. Nah,no to social media for me,i only just learnt to use a mobile phone 😂
@@eNVyBoardGaming Hey buddy did you and Vik have an opportunity to play Deus? I watched a runthrough which resolved a couple of issues i had. Was on my own so had to play with myself (no laughing at the back, you know what i mean) It's a bit more 'thinky' than i expected as you trying to group cards (buildings) to maximise points/resources etc. Know you say you picked up a copy but have you played it previously?
@@danpalmer7676 nah, we haven’t played it.. not expecting to get it played for a while!
Hey guys! Congrats on 1,000 Subs!! Let me take a whack at this: Favorite New-to-Me Game: - Guards of Atlantis II Favorite Game. period: - Brass Birmingham Game on the Rise: - Lost Ruins of Arnak Falling Game: - Clans of Caledonia Favorite Experience: - Broom Service - Defence of Procyon III And I’m adding a category 😁, ‘Shelf of Shame Game Most Excited to Try’: - Argent the Consortium
Very nice. Glad to see Lost Ruins climbing. I loved the latest expansion! Sad to see Clans falling. Hopefully the expansion coming out will help that. I’ve always wanted to give Broom Service a go! N
The Lost Ruins expansions really elevated that game to the next tier for me. I’m a huge fan of Terra Mystica, so assumed Clans would hit the sweet spot but didn’t… I purchased it years ago, played a few times then sold it, re-purchased it and played a couple more times… still didn’t sing for me, not sure why. Side note: would be fun to do a list/video collaboration sometime. Just have to brainstorm for a good Top 5/10 topic!
For this quarter Favourite new to me game: Planet Unknown. Best game: 51st State Game that keeps getting better: Sea Salt & Paper Best experience: Massive Darkness 2-M
Massive Darkness 2 is one I really want to try. I have not played 51st state yet. Happy to see Planet Unknown and Sea Salt and Paper make the list. - A
I will take The Bloody Inn off your hands, for you. I've been searching for a copy of this for awhile.-M
Been to Snakes n Lattes yet? Could meet you for some games in Toronto sometime and hand that one over to ya. I know it’s like three hours from ya, but if you wanna check it out sometime, we’re in! N
Algorithm messing with you, i never saw this in my feed yesterday! I had 101 plays of 55 different games in quarter 1! Most played - Harrow County with 8 Fave new - Harrow County Fave game period- Harrow County, played one on one games with 3 different people and loved it every time. Looking forward to trying the 3 and 4 player games soon! Rising - CoraQuest, its a very simple dungeon crawler for families/kids, but we went through one of the campaigns in the expansion and it was fun leveling up and carrying over equipment between scenarios. Falling- Sagrada Artisans, ever so slightly. I do really enjoy playing the game but i stopped caring about the campaign. We only have 2 games left now. Experience- Froathaven! After playing every-other-week(ish) for over a year we FINALLY retired a couple characters! Exciting!!!
It was posted yesterday but I had to unpublish because we didn’t have a thumbnail up. You blew past us with Frosthaven. We still haven’t even retired a character in Gloomhaven yet! N
I am still waiting on my copy! Without the wash but I think will still look beautiful… Roxley always ace on the production front
That's beautiful, I'm kinda regretting not paying extra for the wash now. My copy is arriving this week.
where the gold building number ?I heard should have..
They decided not to do the foil around the numbers since it negatively affected the legibility of the number. They talk about this in their Kickstarter update #43. I also mention this in the review that will be coming later this week. - A
Great video dude, showed off all the details and components without going off on tangents as some do and you also showed it all back together and how the deluxe pieces fit it, that is great! Waiting for my copy eagerly, thanks for the vid!
Thank you! I’m glad you enjoyed the video. - A
Sublime unboxing with great focus on the details. Thank you!

I would love to try World Wonders👍
I'm super curious about Stonespine Architects, same designer as Cartographers! If you get so bored with Fast Sloths that you want to get rid of it....send it my way!
Haha I’ll keep that in mind. Stonespine Architects review will be coming next week. - A
great video! I subbed! considering getting this but worried not enough player interaction?
The player interaction is mostly the race to claiming islands and capturing animals. Usually if there are large islands there can be a good amount of interaction to make sure you have the most influence on those high scoring islands. - A
