Shops are there for people who don't have time or the knowledge to do these repairs themselves. Everything is a trade-off. You order the parts, watch the videos, and then attempt the repairs. You could ruin your clothing, break a nail, get a sunburn, and / or cut yourself. It might be the wrong part, so you have to reorder and take the mower apart again. How much is your time worth, anyway? If you make a descent living just take it to a shop. They might tell you the crankshaft is also bent, and the blade is dull, and the oil needs changing and the air cleaner is a solid block of dirt and the pull rope is about to snap and the brake cable is about to go out next. If you are not already very mechanically inclined and knowledgeable, then don't try to beat a man at his own game. Take it to a shop. Spend your time relaxing on the beach, or thrifting on Ebay, which would pay for the repairs and be far less physically demanding.

Why is it when I search for "Desk Refinish" this video is the second one on the list? Does this guy pay to have his videos come up first no matter what people are looking for? This happens all the time here and with internet search engines like google. I am tired of these junk results. It used to be when you searched for something, there was some relevancy to the results based on what you plug in.

So what scratch cover did you use? Also I was hoping that you would redo the cushions. I have some similar chairs that have the wood on the side. I would like to have a more comfortable seat than the wood plank with the old cotton batting on top. Do you have a video or a suggestion on what else to use knowing I have limited space on the sides where the seat meats the wood?

Wow love your skills and videos. Just discovered your channel and will be enjoying seeing all your projects. I just took a restoration and finishing class where I was introduced to many of the techniques you use. So great to see many examples of the practice. Question - what brand / where did you find andover maple stain? Thanks Adam

Just changed mine thanks for the info. Additional info. The one inch that you used to set the cable is adjustable(a bit like brake cables on a bicycle). So just set and tighten where it engaged the drive shaft. Thanks again mate!

How much money went into the restoration? Did the sewing machine itself have any work done on it? I recently got ahold of my grandmother's 1910 singer and all parts need a lot of love. I'd like to get it running again. The machine needs a new paint, the legs are rusted, and the table tops veneer is chipping off...

Thank you for sharing! Question--why did you start with the chemical stripper instead of handstripping with sand paper or using an orbital sander?

Thanks so much for all the information! I am enjoying re-watching this series as I tackle repair jobs to my great-great grandmothers machine (bought in 1894). The wood has all kinds of damage. The cast iron has some rust and some paint 'rubbed off' (but not chipped). As I live in a small space where I can't ventilate or take it outside, I am looking for a way to cut some corners with the cast iron so that I can just remove the rust and maybe seal or treat it in some way to prevent future damage, without using toxic products or spray painting, not necessarily going for a picture perfect look. Haven't found any easy solutions yet, but any info much appreciated.

What’s funny for me is that after I did it all and replaced it, I started it up and tested if the wheels would spin. And sure enough they did spin, without me pulling the bar, and then I let go of the bar so the engine would stop so I could loosen it up…. The engine wouldn’t stop.

We just got an antique treadle sewing machine similar to the one in this video. Seemingly, someone had reassembled it incorrectly and put the sewing machine underneath the spring up foot. Watching this video really helped us understand how to fix the problem! Thank you so much!

Dear Larry, During the last month or so I watched all your videos from the very first one upto this last one. I learned a lot from you and I also enjoyed your style and your humour. Quality of picture or sound doesn't matter that much as long as it is enjoyable, and believe me it was. The only way I could say thank you was giving a thumbs up to each and every video of yours, which I did. I really hope that this wasn't your last video, so I keep being subscribed to your channel. Thank you again and hope to see you on screen some time! Best wishes, Peter from Hungary

I rescued a Lane coffee table that someone had put on a curb. Two corners had been chewed by a dog. One is worse than the other. Can the table be saved?
