This is so relevant!
I keep hearing I need to transcribe. Okay okay, I’ll do it. Where to start? Thanks for the video.
I just watched this and tried all of the exercises, and I couldn’t get a sound out using any of them. I know my embouchure has gotten lazy over the past year, how much and how often should I practice these to eventually be able to play with them? Just feeling a little discouraged
I really needed this.
For brevity of terminology and better understanding of context, I prefer to refer to a dominant 7 with a natural 13 and a #11 simply as a Lydian dominant (provided your listener knows what that means). That and the altered dominant are tritone substitutions of each other using different modes of the same scale.
How do you play the high notes f# to g# and bak again, on te tenor
How cool is watching you playing with nothing less than the legendaty Incognito! Thanks for the video!
Hit like button in advance 😊
kzread.info/dash/bejne/a5x3xZWBaK3QpNo.htmlsi=fQ4M5fAqbVw0cBPG In this video I did the same thing "venting" the first couple overtones, briefly opening a key the get the right note to start. This can sound cool in solos to alternate between the overtone note and the regular fingering.
Really interesting hear how the volume of the sound changes
Hello do you still teach classes now
Yeh! www.getyoursaxtogether.com/teaching
I've been looking for a channel like yours for a long time! Today I started following your advice and I can see improvement immediately 🤩 no more lower lip pain 😫
That's great!
love the lecture! but... i understood the name as " Gay Sax together"....😜
Hi Jamie with the normal fingerings you break your fingers on the tenor sax. Is there another way to play this lick more comfortably with other fingerings?
thanks for sharing! Ive found these help students progress, especially when they hit a wall
Great!
Good stuff! Is it possible there are two popular versions of the song with one in Bm and perhaps the Remastered one in Cm?
Nearly the only overtone I needed up to now playing in a brassband was the altissimo G, which I couldn‘t match up to now on my Tenorsaxophon , and there seems to be no easy cheat for that 😔
This video hit me like a truck! It's gonna change the way I play woodwinds!
Awesome!
erm what are the fingerings if there are any/how to play altissimo f
watch my videos on altissimo.
@@GetYourSaxTogether ok
Thanks, Jamie!!! I tend to hit overtones by accident 😳 Cheers!
Sure 👍🏻

I’ve seen him, since then I cheating too ,if I have a problem not getting mainly the fourth overtone out.
Ok thanks.
@@GetYourSaxTogether Does it cause any problem for the future ? The bigger tip opening helps to get easier overtones out.
It's just like using an octave key. You still have to be able to achieve the overtones without the additional venting or you haven't really achieved anything.
These cheats are simply training wheels. Once you feel the overtone this way it will help you get it without the extra help
Once you can produce the overtone using these crutches, continue to produce the overtone back on the Low Bb fingering without the crutch addition. This is training for your brain to get a sense of where everything needs to be in your throat, tongue, embouchure to produce the note. When you stop playing the overtone, breathe thru your nose while trying to not move any of the throat, tongue, embouchure parts and try to immediately go back to the overtone (without using the crutch) by starting the overtone note with breath only (no tonguing, which might shift something critical in the setup). This helped me start producing all 4 overtones.
Some good answers here.
Dig it
Ta!
Thanking you big time, kind Sir! Crutchtastic. We should all certainly sign up for the Inner Circle soon! 💯❤Hugs. ~Anywayz, we don't need to be 'space oddities' with our neighbours anymore (or even alienate 'em) coz soon enuff they all gonna start pounding on our doors! ooh ya and sings Men at Work, Who Can It Be Now ? #ThanksSoFundamentallyMuchJamie
Love it!
Thanks Jamie, I was waiting for this since you mentioned it in the comments some Sundays ago about this was coming. I cannot wait to try this but my neighbours are still sleeping. 😂
No worries!
Just did 5 of thes blind tests with nice headphones and everytime picked cane first, American 2nd, signature 3rd.
There you go!
Saw Jamie last night at Ronnie Scotts playing the music of the Crusaders and the great Wilton Felder. Absolutely awesome playing and a real joy to watch and listen to. The Fife youth jazz band and Richard Michael/Richard Ingham have produced some awesome players. 🎷🎷
Oh wow, cool! Loved that gig. 😀
I have been playing for years with the incorrect embouchure, shredding my bottom lip. This video changed my life. 😭Thank you🙏
Happy to help!
Played for nearly 9 years and that’s the first I’ve ever seen inside someone’s mouth while playing, disgusting but interesting and educational none the less 😂😂😂
Yup. It wasn’t my mouth btw! 🤣
Eres punto y aparte. Contigo rompieron el molde!
🙏🏻
B for sure
Thanks 🙏🏻
Ipanema is everywhere. The most famous appearance is, of course... in the elevator the Blues Brothers take up to the assessor's office at the end of the movie.
Ha! Yes.
I can barely get out the normal altissimo c
🤣
A big difference made by such a simple thing !..
👍🏻
when the sax wants to be a trumpet
Or higher!
mkVI looks better (I love that matte look) and sounds perfect and doing job, no reason to buy expensive new horns
True
I practice few days and I got this "easy" feeling embouchure instead of hard blowing! So I think first things first I'll try to catch and keep this feeling while playing notes along with slow metronome and tuner as well!
Awesome 🙌🏻
The famous Parker lick in ms. 65 is from the march “High Society”.👍😉
Thanks 🙏🏻
This is great stuff
Ta
YA CRACKED MY COMPUTER MONITOR... 🤣😂
🤣
Massive THANK YOU for this! I've wanted to learn this for a while, and how you formatted the video with the transcribed notes is super helpful! Challenging key for Alto, but I have a direction I can go now :D
Glad it was helpful!
I prefer A.
Thanks 🙏🏻
What dose the bis key do
Makes B into Bb.
I'm finding it hard getting a good sound out, I'm a complete beginner lol
Yeah. Go back to my beginner playlist!
@GetYourSaxTogether I've watched it over twice I just have to make the time to practice without annoying my wife 😅
wow
🙏🏻
I've recently broken into altissimo after overtone work starting to pay off. Will try the crook thing. Bit worried about neighbours. Tips welcome.
Talk to them. Get an iso booth!
If there were one musical instrument I would choose to play it would be the sax.
Cool 😎
In this part of Canada where I live, if I did overtones on the neck like Jamie does then every bull elk within a 10 mile radius would come running my way with love in his eyes. 😂😂😂
Ha! 🤣
