I know there’s a time and place for these but not all of the time. Too much steel on steel. We run 535s and only get 1 1/2 years out of our ring chains. That’s 10,000 $ for all four every year and a half for just chains. These things have to be double that price I would assume.

When is the best time to harvest trees?
@Delabeled Жыл бұрын
As a Forest Harvester Operator I will never understand the use of Skidders in thinning jobs. They destroy all the new growth and make the thinning useless. Might as well just clear cut everywhere a skidder is used. Harvester heads and forwarders would be so much more efficient. Sure some places might want full length trees but you would have so much more timber to work with if you didn't destroy all the new growth. Granted this is coming from someone who has been working in a country that actually tries to preserve it's forests.

Careful operators and proper trail layout can make a world of difference. In my opinion the worst problem with rubber tire skidders is soil compaction.

I like the tracks for ground pressure and traction. That grapple works great with a feller buncher other wise cable and chokers would have a lot less damage to the woods.

yes sure but it should tailor suited tracks because this machine is huge and they have measure it then do a little calculation on this one concerning mass pressure on the ground this may take a little but it is possible

Y'all should put a set of tracks on a 948l2 or a 632 tigercat and see what they will do! Probably have to put a wider set of tracks on a skidder that big!
