What's In The Box - Episodes of Horror
What’s in the box?
In every episode, we hope to unpackage something unique and important to the world of horror. We want to deep dive into the favorites, the classics, the indies, the hits, and the misses.
Let’s pop them open and see what’s inside. What makes them important to the genre? And what impact, if any, do they have on us as consumers of the genre?
We will look at the books, the movies, the shows, and the people who help make the genre not only enjoyable but important. While we will showcase authors, we also want to shine a light on the unsung heroes of horror - the behind-the-scenes creators who help make Indie Horror Shine.
Buckle up and get ready to see what’s in the box!

Thanks for letting me hang out with y'all for a while!
So when does Donna watch Rogue 1?
Season 2 of TWD is fire. utterly love it. So underrated
thank you. really appreciate it and glad you're enjoying it.
Loved this thanks xx ❤
Great Discussion. I really liked the movie. I've never read the book. I agree with almost everything you both said about the movie. Yes Ian McKellen did play Magneto but He really made his mark as Gandalf in The Lord Of The Rings 😉❤️
Hard to argue with that. His portrayal of Gandalf is iconic.
Great discussion and I agreed with everything you both talked about. The Shining is the only Stephen King book that I've read twice. Approximately 20 years between readings. As with any book or movie you notice your perspective changes. Remembering some things and forgetting other things, then having "Oh that's right" moments. As Donna talked about Tony, I remember I really wanted to know why the name Tony? When it's finally explained, I thought well that makes sense. I'm looking forward to the movie and mini series discussion. I especially liked your guest appearance by Kittle. Very brief shot of Totoro. 😉❤️ Over All I Rate: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
This was an intriguing and compelling discussion. I saw all the movies except the Italian one. My favorite will always be the 1931 version. I have read Mary Shelley's book. I love Young Frankenstein. I've watched it countless times at it's absolutely brilliant in every way. Didn't like the 90's one at all. Robert De Niro just wasn't believable. The Hammer film was good because I really like Peter Cushing. Interesting discussion and I enjoyed your different perspectives. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Peter Cushing is always a joy to watch
Great discussion about a Classic Book. I think I saw the 1931 movie when I was 8. I felt sorry for the creature. Reading the book as a kid, I didn't understand a lot and immediately thought the movie was nothing like the book. Reading the book as adult, I had a different perspective and got so much more out of the story. I have a lot of respect for Mary Shelley, writing the book at age 18. I still have sympathy for the creature. ❤️ Your Discussion ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Other than the Movie Monster squad and seeing Lurch on the Addams Family and Herman Munster of the Munsters, the 1994 Frankenstein movie with Robert DeNiro is what I know about Frankenstein. I won't say it's book accurate, but De Niro has the monster is worth the run time. 41:57
Great Episode! You 2 had a great discussion and I enjoyed this one. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
This was a great interview. I like getting an introduction to authors I haven't heard of before. Learning about them personally and the type of stories they write.
Interesting episode. It's always fascinating and enlightening to listen to different people and their interpretation of a book. The first time I read Dracula I was 11 years old. I have read the book numerous times throughout my life, different stages and ages. Each time I would take away something different or feel differently about the book. I still believe it is a classic novel and without it the genre as we know it today would not exist. ❤
for sure. I have to believe when this came out it was mind blowing.
Awesome interview. I loved it xx ❤️
Whole heartedly agree with Eric on First Person. I want to see Amsterdam and London are fairly close. I had a teammate that would go over the weekend
WOW! I LOVE THE NEW INTRO ❤️ I really enjoyed this episode Eric, you were fantastic, informative, honest and brought back some special memories for me. It was fun to see how many books you showed that I have read and have in my bookshelves. I finally had to start writing down books I want to find and read. I know you love The Alienist by Caleb Carr like I do. Maybe in your Part 2 ? I loved this whole format of listening to you share your love & passion for books. Looking forward to Part 2. I would also love it if you did episodes of your favorite Movies. I liked when you gave some background of your childhood, teen years, right into adult years. How certain books & authors impacted you. I'm definitely going to watch this episode again. You are absolutely fascinating. Thank You A Bazillion Times ! ❤
Yeah, maybe I'll do a run of books set in that time period in the states.
RJ is awesome. ❤
❤
Wicked interview xx 💚💚
This was a good segment. I love Ray Bradbury. RJ Roles was great, it was good to see him again. He's a fantastic author. ❤️🎃
I have never seen the Rob Zombie movie. It was interesting listening to you talk about it but I'm still not going to watch it. I don't like remakes. The first thing I love about the original, the theme music, John Carpenter wrote it and it's absolutely brilliant. ❤ Of course I watch original Halloween every year on Halloween. I won a Halloween the movie trivia contest about 10 years ago. I knew the name of the guy that Laurie had a crush on. While Annie was driving them to school, they're smoking a joint and Annie is teasing Laurie about if she ever thinks about guys or who she has a crush on. Laurie finally admitted she did have a crush. His name was Ben Traymer. 😉
Unfortunately, he never lived through that night. In Halloween II, Ben was mistaken for Michael Myers by Dr. Loomis and ran into the street getting hit by a car and dying in the explosion.
Fantastic Interview/Discussion I have not heard of Angelique Jordonna and because of this, Im definitely going to check her out. Well Done Eric and Donna ❤
She's one of our favorite people.
This was interesting to listen to because I've never read any of the Howling books. I have only watched the original The Howling movie.
Fascinating and Interesting interview/discussion. Well Done 💛💛💛💛💛
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ I still believe it's the best transformation scene Ever. ❤
