I saw that you use a app or a software to find all the modes in a key note, can you tell us what the name of this app. thank you

Thank you for what you're doing - you put things over very well and clearly! I recently bought a nanoKontrol 2 with the intention of using with my Mac Studio and my Vienna Instruments library via Vienna Ensemble Server and Logic Pro. Do you happen to know whether the Korg will actually operate successfully with this setup? I have followed your excellent video step by step including erasing all traces of any previous installations, and seem to be getting random results! Within the Korg Editor, I am assigning all the sliders to match the control sliders in the Vienna Synchron Player - but strange things happen. I tried an experiment by recording on a blank track and moving the various sliders. I then had a look at the control changes in the Event List to see if they matched the ones that had been assigned, and they just didn't - yet the assignments look correct in the Korg Editor. Another strange thing was that is listed channel 16 and the receiving channel for all the Control Changes! I accept it will be through lack of knowledge on my part; I've spent many hours over many years troubleshooting midi issues, but I'm at a complete loss to know what to do in this instance - I'd be grateful for any advice. Many thanks again!

Thanks a lot, I understand now how the EQ works, I usually adjust the EQ by ear to sound "nice", but I will start applying this kind of logic aswell.

What if I want to use the NanoKONTROL as a mixer, and be able to control the volume of the first 8 channels I have on Logic?

Great work David. I enjoy your sound. My composition style preference is quite similar, sort of a melancholy Nordic as well. Art is never good or bad, it just is what it is for those who enjoy it. This helps me avoid perfection paralysis which has always hindered my productivity. Keep making great music.

This makes me irrationally angry. Why TF would they not make C4, C4??????? I've gone down this rabbit hole before too, and the more I read the more I rage. I dont give a flying F*** what explanations people make for why DAWS have made C3 C4... it's very confusing, and there's really no reason for it... it's a DIGITAL WORK STATION, they could design it anyway they want to... so WHY make a mistake common and the standard. Pisses me the F*** off!

Hello! Thank you! But... your instructions worked perfectly when I set it up on my old MacBook Pro laptop a year ago. FANTASTIC! Then I switched to a Mac Pro tower running Ventura 13.5 and Logic Pro 10.7.9 and Logic Pro keeps forcing the NanoKONTROL 2 into "native mode" which prevents me from writing or receiving scene data. I've used the same versions of the Kontrol Editor and Logic Pro plug-in you used. I also tried with the newest versions. I keep getting the same error message... "Korg Kontrol Editor cannot communicate with the device while it is in Korg Native Mode." I know you're not KORG support and have much better ways to spend your time, but if you have any clue what I'm doing wrong, I would be very grateful. Thank you!

And to keep the NanoKONTROL 2 from constantly being automatically added as a control surface, go to the Control Surfaces Setup window, pull down on the New menu in the top left, and uncheck Automatic Installation

In REAPER the option is called "MIDI octave name display offset" in Preferences > Media > MIDI. Middle C being C4 is also called the Scientific pitch notation -> en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Scientific_pitch_notation Another logical explanation: On a full 88 keyboard the first C is C1 -> middle C is C4

So beautifully written and thank you for sharing your piece for Basco. My wife and I lost our two dogs a free years ago and now we have Aiya who is in our life and never thought of writing music like this with so much emotion. You are truly inspiring and I want to continue learning from your videos🙏🏾

So sorry to learn of the passing of Basco. We have always cherished and loved all of the dogs we have had during our lifetimes. When our dogs passed away, a piece of our hearts went with them. We now have a cute, little Pom named Luna that we love dearly. She is our awesome travel buddy. This music in memory of your beloved Basco is deeply heartfelt with intensely touching emotion. Our condolences go out to you during this difficult time. ❤

My beloved big brown hairy dog (Basco) has passed away. He was our family friend. Gave us so much love. Enjoyed being on adventure with the family. No mountains too high, no distance too long. He was always with us. Sadly we had to let him go. Cancer got him. A battle he could not win. Rest in peace, you always will be in my heart ❤

I've just used this helpful video to set up my nanoKONTROL Studio controller on Mac Ventura & Logic X 10.79, and all of David's instructions work for that too. Curiously, the Korg manual undersells the product; tying it too much to track control. Fortunately the capabilities unlocked by the video are much more general and helpful. Thank you.

This is actually a great video - my best advice is always check the frequencies. Examples of middle c changing - autotune and melodyne and phaseplant - depending what instrument you choose changes the octave. It can really confuse beginners
