  Great news Candy, being born and raised in Manly 50;s,60'sand 70's that pool is part of my DNA,I lived at Fairlight Crescent so spent half the time at Fairlight pool and the other half at Manly pool and remember the day vividly when we lost the old boardwalk to that storm. Such a good idea for Manly,maybe you can do away with the exorbitant fees for parking, I went back to Manly a year ago for a bit of nostalgia and mainly to send my dear old Mum's ashes'out to sea from Fairlight,I couldn't park anywhere at Fairlight without the wrath of a parking police car with all the technology on the roof. There are plenty of expats like me that would like to visit there old home now and again without being held up and issued a parking bluey. Candy what about issuing temp. parking exemptions for Tourists Oh and paying $60 a night to park your car in a council car park is ridiculous

  Nahhh these ferries are the best seats are confy the boat is very clean well managed fun during swells honestly my favourite ferry if u want to hate in these get the manly fast ferry those blue and yellow boats can’t handle it either or get a bus

  But just think if you had a wheelchair. I’ve been on an emerald, and it’s an absolute PAIN, even without any mobility issues. Think more of other people that aren’t as fortunate as you may be.

  @@Sfc23 And no more options? People with disabilities have used ferry models like the first fleeters and freshwaters for decades, and maybe think that people don’t have to change their style of transport after it being the same for years.

  It's Sydney, our heritage, icons , memories, the whole world knows about our Famous Manly ferries , it should be put to a vote by the people of NSW , they have been an outstanding success for many decades and its one of the main reasons why people head down to Circular quay, just leave them alone .

  Couldn't agree more. I'm able bodied person, but the emerald class are very noisy and uncomfortable compared to the Freshwater ferries. Feels like I'm a third class passenger. 🙁

  As of now some progress has been made. Freshwater, Narrabeen and Collaroy have been announced that they will be retained. Hopefully the final one will be saved.

  Narrabeen is gone, and will most likely be cut up for parts. Collaroy might be retired because they are using an incident that happened over 20 years ago as an excuse to retire her. Freshwater is fine for now, Queenscliff might come back. They don't know what they are doing. I'm just so happy there are other people who love and care for these ferries #savethemanlyferries

  It helps people slow down and not to be subjected to the vibrations on hydrofoils. It allows more time for city workers to jettison city intensities and return home a more gentle person. The thrills for young children when the waves are happening are one of the cheapest available?

  I am Now 82, But Really Enjoyed The Manly Pool Swam There Many Times, Even Holidayed there from Dulwich Hill, Dived for Money Thrown from Ferry Passengers, GOOD LUCK, I HOPE IT IS EVEN BETTER THAN WHAT IT WAS. IT WAS WONDERFUL !

  There is no reason for these to be replaced , they were very well made and are well serviced. They are truly iconic for Sydney Harbour . Sydney has lost many things over the years , not everything that comes in new and modern is better. San Francisco kept their famous street cars , a true tourist drawcard , Queenstown in New Zealand kept their famous TSS Earnslaw steamship running , there is NO reason why the NSW state government can't keep these in service. The only thing that needs to be replaced is the closed mind of the government , they need to listen to the public who use and love these ferries. There is already a fast ferry service on the Harbour for those who wish to use it . The 30 min ride to and from Manly is probably the most relaxing and enjoyable thing anyone can do .

  I’ve taken the ferry twice to Manly and arrived back into Sydney Harbour at night time it is truly one of the most magical things to do when staying in Sydney .Every time I visit I make sure I take time to make this journey . Please do not get rid of them they are an iconic part of Sydney and Manly life . You have an amazing ferry system it’s a great cheap fun way to get around Sydney.

  This, too, is a part of my life. Growing up as a kid and to share the experience with my children. It's sad with the prospect of this iconic journey threatening to come to an end. What's worse is I have moved interstate and cannot sign the petition to help save the fleet!

  Loved Riding the Manly ferries when i was in Sydney, keep 'em running cause there is no better way to Manly. Lets hope i get to ride them again when the Corona pandemic is over.

  I am Victorian and I come to Sydney twice a year and the main reason to ride the Manly ferry and enjoy the beautiful harbour . It is absolutely ridiculous to replace these graceful ferries with catamarans.The people of NSW own these ferries not the Government or the bean counters from Transdev .The minister says the people want faster ferry ,what I have read I have not seen one comment from anybody who wants the present ferries replaced .
