My goal was to set a wood turning aboard the catamaran. Well that day has arrived. With much thinking and debating if it would even be possible. I have created the worlds smallest workshop and probably the only full turning channel aboard a Catamaran.

OMG 2 HOBBIES AT SAME TIME. HONEY GUESS WHAT I SOLD THE HOUSE BUT ..........
I have been searching many videos for instructions how to make this jig. Your video and instructions are the very best. I now feel confident to make my own jig. Thank you.
Marabilloso
Thumbs up!!! You're the best turner on youtube. Wish you were on more often!! Clark
Thumbs up!!! AMAZING! Clark
Thumbs up!!! The amazing thing about this piece of wood is the way YOU turned it! Thanks for making this video so I could watch you do the art! Clark
Thumbs up!!! In my opinion you are the best (even if I have to watch your videos 3 or 4 times!) Clark😊
That's the best idea I've ever seen. I baught myself some months ago a wedgie plate and wedgie and it cost me a lot of money (Rand/ Dollar thing). So I figured out the gap angle and drew it out on cad both the plates and wedgies. Got my wedgies last week lazer cut and now after this video I can try and make my own wedgie plates. Thanks AL...Oelie from South Africa..
Thanks for watching I am glad it helped you
Very nice piece, and a very enjoyable video. Thank you for sharing
Glad you enjoyed it
Wish you were back on regularly, Thumbs up! Clark
Someday. I miss my friends and wood turning of course
What scrapers would you recomend? Thumbs up, Clark!!!
You know I'm not big on brand names. My go to scraper is a Harbor Freight
Why the terrible background noise
De TODOS foi o MELHOR TORNEADOR QUE JÁ ASSISTI......CORAJOSO 😊 ..! TRABALHAR COM GALHOS ..TRONCOS..E RAIZ ..NÃO É PRA QUALQUER UM....
I watched the whole video 👍🏻
and you servived? Wow great job thank you.
Good job considering the limitations iyou are faced with. It has been years since I saw you do a turning.
Thanks for watching this. I will be doing something very shortly
What a pleasure to be with you in the shed again. I truly miss you Al.
Thank you my friend.
👍👍👍
Lovely!
Thank you
Thanks for sharing your thought process. Ive often stared at a chunk of wood and could not decice what to do with it!
Glad to help I stare at pieces for long time as well and at times I just put it aside than suddenly it comes to me
Wow! Thats fantastic. Its so good to find you again.
Welcome back!
yos
I have been turning some recently, the crotches have amazing figuring and chatoyancy.
So, I have a vintage Duro Metals Product CO. lathe (@1959ish) and I was looking for the original equipment pillow blocks. This is a great alternative way of doing the same thing. Thank you for the work around video. I will definitely be trying this way of doing the lift. The only thing I need to figure out is the rise on the tool rest 🤔🤔🤔
I made a couple of mods to a couple of my tool rests. on one I inserted a pipe sleeve that fit tight onto the post and added another section of post on the bottom. on another I made an S shaped post to accomidate for the distance on larger turnings than the banjo allowerd. You will see it in use on many of my videos but I did not focus any video on it.
This is a nice idea Al thank you for sharing
Sir... that is stunning. The concave is not a flaw, its a success. That takes amazing skill to keep a branch like that. Well Done!
Hi AL a long time viewer here It is so nice to see you turning again. I have missed you work. Your current workshop sure is tight and it looks like you are making the best of it.
did you consider doing an epoxy pour for that piece?
It's amazing to see what you can create with just a small space to work. Great job, you're an inspiration!
Great video. As a beginner and needing an economical way to keep my chisels sharp, I really appreciate the demonstration you've provided here.
I love it and I love the background music a good lesson to thanks
You da man
Fantastic! Gives me some new ideas for crotch peices.
Soon my friend. Take care
Glad to see you on the lathe again. For dust control, you might want to look into a “bench top” dust collector. They make them for people who do power carving and wood burning. Oneida Air Systems has a benchtop mini that might be just the right answer for your work area. Maybe Santa can help out.
Thanks and that is a great tip. my problem is power consumption as I run things off my batteries
@@AlFurtado They may have AC/DC/recharge units. My LED lights are all recharge battery units now.
Hello my friend. Been watching you for what seems like lifetime lol. It's been years and you never fail to impress. I know I don't comment much but I'm here ,👍
Wow, thank you. glad to see you comment I really appreciate you taking the time to do that. Not so sure what to make out of "feels like a lifetime" but glad that is in a good way LOL
@@AlFurtado it's definitely in a good way lol. I just mean it's been a long time lol.
Great droop sided bowl Al.
Thank you my friend. Glad you liked it.
WOW!! Surprise to see you turning. Glad you found some time to turn. Always learning from you. Happy sailing. ⛵️⛵️
More to come! Thank you for watching
Very well done Al! Adapt and overcome🤣👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍😎😎😎😎😎
Glad you enjoyed it my friend.
That's nice, Al. It looks like you haven't lost your touch. Bill
Thanks I guess it's like riding a bycicle huh? LOL
Hi Al It's been a long time but I see you haven't lost your touch with your signature turning! It's great to see you at the lake again turning this beautiful piece! Tom
Thanks, you too! Glad to see you here
Beautiful, my friend. Now I get to see the cat plus turning.
Thank you! Cheers! now if I can get the darn cameras to record huh?
Hi 👋, Rebel , I just remembered something I was watching something on KZread a few months ago where a guy nearly lost his workshop due to leaving rags screwed up with finishing products on it. It appears it can spontaneous combust so please be careful, Phil from the moulin France.
Good point but I am sure that was with a gasoline powered boat right?
Hi 👋, Rebel , great to see you getting your hands in the closet 😂, things must be turning out well again 😂, and you are not to hangover, you’re turning too much, 😂. That was great to see you again coming out of the closet after a year, sorry I could not help myself I just after dropping a few little jokes here and there, glad to hear and see you’re all safe and Sound, Phil from the moulin France.
HA HA HA. I don't think I came out of the closet. I just moved in to it and refuse to come out LOL
Yea, your back. Hope your wife and family are well. Now Woodturning on the high seas, that's an experience not to miss.
Yeah she is fine. be sure to keep watching all adventures LOL
Al, glad to see you back. Nice piece.
Many thanks!
Great job, my friend! You might try sanding with a mixture of mineral oil and bees wax, Al. No sanding dust.
Thanks for the great tip and normaly any sane person would jump on that idea, but, you do know I am lazy and no sanding sounds a lot easier that your method right? I am trying to perfect the cut to where no sanding is needed LOL
A good one again...
Yeah I know. You're just being nice or want a payment LOL
@@AlFurtado Or both lol😇...
Nice to see neither your skills nor your tools got rusty!
Not sure about the tools though. I am sure I had a 20 min chat about the rust in there but didn't quite make it into the final cut LOL
So excited for a turning video! It turned out fantastic Al!
Thank you my friend. just happy to see you here as well.
I watched again Al. Carrotwood! I so enjoy watching you work. Great skill hollowing with the bowl gauge. Did you use a different tool hollowing just at the end? Man, what a workhorse that old lathe of yours was! Don't forget to gather some interesting little pieces while you're on land to turn in your new home All the best, Gary
Not sure as this is an older video butI sam sure I did LOL Yeah I misss that old lathe and the shop for sure. I do have a few pieces to turn but been busy prepping and visiting
Today I enjoyed this visit with an old friend.
It sure looks like walnut and not mahogany
